MATTS POV

I felt bad.

I shouldn't of pushed her in the lake.

Of course it was just fun and games but she was right. It was f**king freezing in the water.

I'll admit she was pretty smart with that give me your hand tactic

I get home after we went our separate ways after the lake. I shower then put on maroon sweats. I sit down on my bed doing a homework assignment that I definitely did not want to do but I was procrastinating it too much. The thing is I never actually read the book for this essay so that was going to be a problem. I love reading classic novels and al that but coach has been on my ass the past week and I never had time to read the book. Jane Eyre. Yup that's the book. I know I know. You say you like classic novels but you haven't read that? My answer is I haven gotten around to it.

But I think I know who has. This person just so happens to live next door to me.

I look out my window to se her sitting in her bed reading. I open my window and hers is already open.

"Watcha reading?" I ask leaning out of my window. I could literally climb into her bedroom and there would be only a 0.1% chance of me falling. She looks up startled and then closes her book. She has wet hair and is wearing black shorts and a long t shirt. She looks down at my shirtless body and blinks a few times. Who knew I had such affects on girls. I smirk, yes the all knowing boy smirk.

"Wuthering Heights, for the 13th time." She responds sitting crisscross apple sauce on her bed. Her hands are under her chin and her elbows are resting on her knees. I smile at her and she returns it with a small smile of her own.

"I actually needed to ask you if you've read Jane Eyre?" I ask being hopeful. She lays back down on her bed laughing. I furrow my eyebrows at what she is laughing at.

"Is that a serious question?" She asks now sitting at he edge of her bed.

"Uh yeah."

"Of course I have. Why?"

"I need help with an essay,"

"Oh, um, I'm not really good with helping people out in that stuff." She says a little nervous.

"It's fine I just need a summary of the book," she looks shocked.

"You haven't read the book but you're writing an essay on it?"

"Yeah I didn't have time."

"Mhmm," She says grabbing something from a part of her room that I can't see.

"Here." She says placing the book Jane Eyre in my hands. I look up to her and we both smile. "There are a lot of sticky notes for my favourite parts and most important parts of the book. Unless you don't want any spoilers for it you ever decide to actually read it, then it would be best to just search up a summary." She says backing away from the window.

"Thanks! I actually like books being spoiled just so I know what to expect." She smiles which makes me smile.

Damn this girl is always making me smile!

"No problem," she says in a low tone.

It's currently been 1 week since I have talked or seen Bella. I'm not going to lie I miss the extra smiling. I finished the essay and the decided to read the book. I was planning on giving her the book but I couldn't find the right time.

When I said I didn't see her that wasn't exactly all true. I saw her at school and through the window but I never started a conversation. But now would be a good time.

It's Friday night and I just finished football practice. I'm wearing grey sweats and a blue muscle tee. I look through my window and surely enough she is reading in her bed crisscross apple sauce. She is wearing a grey Carleton University shirt and black shorts and her golden brown hair is in a bun. Adorable.

I knock on her window from my open window. She looks up from her books and walks up to open her window.

Those shorts are really short...

"Hey!" I say holding her book.

"Hi," she says smiling.

"Haven't talked to you in a while,"

"Uh yeah." Well this is awkward. She looks down at the ground and I scratch the back of my neck as a nervous habit.

"Uh here," I hand her, her book and she smiles.

"Thanks. Did you read it?" She says whilst taking the book.

"Yeah. I didn't like it as much as other classics." She frowns a little then smiles.

"Ya know if you ever need a book just ask. I have a lot."

"Well can I see?" She like nervous for a second but she recovers quickly with a small smile. I start climbing in through her window but she stops me.

"What- What are you doing? Are you not coming in through the front door."

"Nah. Too lazy." With that I climb into her bedroom and she back up nervously. I have already seen most of her room but when I turn around to the corner I couldn't see before I nearly choke on my own saliva.

She has a f**king library in her room. Well not exactly but there are hundreds of books sorted out on a very large white cabinet.

"They are sorted by authors, and trilogy's. Then I have paperbacks without any series that belong to random authors. Then I have my hard covers belonging to random authors. I have the classics on. The top here," she says pointing to all of the books. "Then I have the books I have 2 or multiple of in this drawer." She says opening a drawer to different novels.

My mouth is still open wide which makes her laugh.

"Wow." Is the only word I can think of.

"Yeah. I'm sorry but I actually have to go." She says abruptly.

"Oh. Um. Okay. Where are you going?" It's none of your business Matt!

She smiles a little, "Work!" She says rather enthusiastically.

"Do you need a ride?"

"Uh if it isn't to much for you?"

"No, I don't really have anything else to do anyways." I shrug and she smiles which makes me smile.

"Okay, I need to change so could you wait downstairs please?"

"Yeah of course." I walk out of her bedroom and close the door.

5 minutes later she comes downstairs and she looks so beautiful.

A tight black skirt, vibrant red lips, thick black tinned glasses, black heels, and a white collared button up long sleeve shirt that is rolled up to 3/4 length. She looks a little embarrassed when she sees me but it quickly vanishes.

She suddenly looks annoyed at something behind me. I turn my head and see her mom taking a picture and smiling.

"Mom!" Bella says rushing down the stairs.

"Oh honey I never get the chance to David the moments I see you in your work costume! And hi Matt!" Mrs Snow says winking at me.

"Hi Margaret." I say smiling at her.

"So you take my daughter to work?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Alrighty then! Let's get going!" Bella says walking out the door.

"Bye Margaret!" I say exiting the door.

Once we get to her work I walk her inside. It was a very classic cafe. I thought it would be a civilized restaurant but it's defiantly not.

"Scarlet!" Bella yells waving her hand.

Scarlet waves back and then waves to me. I return it with a small smile.

She signs something I don't understand.

"He drove me here." Bella exclaims.

"Wait, what do you do at the cafe if you can't speak?" Was that a rude question. I probably shouldn't have asked that. Scarlet just smiles. Then she sighs something once again and I don't understand. I scratch the back of my neck.

"She makes the food and rings the bell once the food is finished rather than calling it out." Bella explains to me.

"Oh, that's fun?" Sounds pretty boring to me.

"She says that it's the most boring f word, job in the whole city." Bella says skipping saying the actual f word.

"Don't like swearing?" I tease.

"Not really, no."

I check my phone and look at the time.

"I gotta run. I'll see you?"

"Uh yeah." Bella replies and I wave goodbye to both of the before getting into the car.

"Well I gotta gotta go and finish the assignment. See you," I close my window and she waves bye.
