•Mara's POV•
I stand up when I see him approaching, "Cam."
He inspects me, "Are you alone?"
I frown, "Of course I'm alone, do you think Ryder would be able to stand still if he were here right now?" I ask.
"True, but I don't know if I fully believe you." He replies.
I sigh, "Fine, but I want to know what you were talking about before. What did you mean by 'you will get her back'? Are you talking about Claire?" I ask.
He growls, "Right now, that's none of your business."
I hold my hands up, "Fine, what do you need?" I ask.
He lets out a breath and visibly relaxes a little, "I just need you to make sure none of Ryder and his friends get in my way. Can you manage that?" He asks.
I nod, "I'll do my best."
"I don't need you to do your best, I need you to prom-"
"Mara!" I hear Ryder in the distance.
Cam looks behind me and quickly looks back to me, "Just do you're best, whatever."
Then he runs behind a tree.
I turn around and see Ryder coming towards me.
"There you are, I've been looking everywhere for you." He frowns.
I shrug, "Sorry, just went for a walk."
"Were you talking to him again?" He asks.
"Him?" I reply.
"You know who I'm talking about Mara." He says sturnly.
"If you're referring to Cam, then no. Ryder, you already told me to stay away from him, I would never go behind your back, you know that." I say.
I sighs, "You're right, I'm just on edge. That guy shouldn't be anywhere near you." He frowns.
"He's gone, I'm sure of it." I reply.
"But how do you know?" He asks.
I shrug, "Mostly because he hasn't come to see me the last couple of days, but also because there hasn't been any rouge sightings or even that weird scent you usually smell."
He nods, "That's true."
I smile, "See all good."
I start to walk away, "Wait, did you just say 'he hasn't come to see me the last couple of days'?" He asks.
"Uh, um yes?" I reply, but it comes out more like a question.
"You mean that wasn't the first time you had a run in with him?" He raises his voice.
"Well, it depends on-"
"It's a yes or no answer Mara!" Ryder shouts, interrupting me.
I bow my head, "No, it wasn't."
Ryder growls, "I'm ashamed of you! You went behind my back! My own mate!"
"Calm down, it's not-"
"I'm not going to freaking calm down Mara! Do you not know how much I detest that guy!"
"Just hear me out for a second." I plead.

"No! Why should I? What have you been talking about with him?" He yells.
"Nothing." I reply quietly.
"Bull crap! How could you Mara?" He shakes his head and starts to walk off.
"Ryder, wait." I reach out to him.
"Don't. Just don't." He sighs and walks off.
I feel a tear run down my cheek and I sniff and wipe it away. I start making my way back out of the forest and finally get to my house. When I walk through the door, I go to the back door and open it.
I walk back into the kitchen and start cleaning the dishes that are in the sink.
Suddenly two hands wrap around my waist and I feel warm breath tickling my neck.
"Nice acting." Ryder whispers.
I giggle and tilt my head back to lean into him, "It actually felt real for a second."
He lets out a breath, "Lets just hope that's the only fight we'll ever have."
"That doesn't really count, it was fake." I add.
He chuckles, the action making his chest vibrate, "I think it was believable enough though."
I laugh, "I'll just remember that you are very stubbern when in a fight. You would actully let me speak if we were in a real one, wouldn't you?" I ask.
"We'll never be in a real one, so we'll never know." He replies.
I finish cleaning the dishes and let them dry by the sink. I turn around in Ryder arms and press my lips to his.
He instantly takes control and slips his tongue into my mouth, not even asking for entry. I twirl my fingers in the locks of his hair while he moves his hands up and down my back.
When I feel the kiss deepening, I jump up and wrap my legs around his waist. He moves his hands from my back to under my thighs to keep me up.
He backs me against the fridge and squashes me, not that it hurt, between the fridge and his body so that he could moves his fingers through my hair.
I hook my ankles behind him and run my hands down his muscular chest. He shivers and moans in delight, the sparks creating fireworks off my fingertips.
Suddenly I hear a throat clear and break away from Ryder to see mum standing in the hallway.
I blush madly and hop off Ryder, yet he makes no move to step backwards, keeping me tightly against his body and the fridge.
"Well, I'm glad you two are having fun. But maybe tone it down a little when in the area that we prepare our food in." Mum smiles.
"Mum." I groan, pushing Ryder out of the way.
She giggles like a teenager, "Don't worry, I don't think you're as bad as your dad and me. When we were teenagers, we-"

I hold up my hand, "Don't need to know, thanks. Now we're going to do some homework." I say and grab Ryder's hand, pulling him along.
As we climb the stairs I hear mum, I expect her to say something like 'keep the door open' or 'no funny business' like a normal parent.
But instead, she says, "Use protection! I don't need grandkids yet!"
"Mum!" I groan loudly and open the door to my room.
Ryder chuckles and pulls me to him, I smile and wriggle out of his grip.
"What are you doing?" He asks.
"Homework." I reply in a 'duh' tone.
He pouts, "But-"
I hold up a finger, "Na uh, homework it is mister."
He sighs and slugs over to my bed, where I am sitting cross-legged with my biology book spread in front of me.
"Where's yours?" I ask.
He shrugs, "I didn't bring it."
I roll my eyes and reach under my bed, pulling out his biology book, "This says otherwise."
"How did you-"
"I know you too well." I grin and flick his nose, which he flinches away to.
"You suck." He says.
"But you love me." I smirk.
He sighs, "Unfortunately I do."
I lean in and kiss his cheek, "It's a good thing I do too then."
He shakes his head and starts writing answers on his notebook.
•Ryder's POV•
"So it worked?" Josh asks as he swings around in circles on his desk chair.
We're in the pack house, finishing off some paperwork before school starts in half an hour.
And when I say we, I mean me. Josh lost interest about twenty minutes ago.
"I'm honestly not sure, I guess we'll just have to wait and see." I shrug.
My phone rings and I pick it up, "Alpha Ryder."
"Hello Alpha, this is Alpha Kyle from the Blue River Pack." The other voice replies.
I remember Mara mentioning him, when she followed Cam.
"What can I do for you Alpha?" I ask.
He sighs, "I need to let you know that your Luna was seen on my territory the other week."
"I know." I reply.
"You do?" He asks.
"Yes, she told me the other day." I reply.
He sighs in relief, "Oh good. I just had to let you know because it seemed like she was watching some serious business."
"Yes, did you know that cabin was occupied?" I ask.
"We didn't, but when we went to check it out, the whole house was empty. Like nothing had been touched, it didn't look like anyone had been there. Not even a scent." He replies.
"Strange." I comment.
"Is there something I need to be aware of?" He asks.
"Not yet, if I find anything further I'll be sure to let you know." I say.
"Thank you Alpha Ryder." He replies.
"And I'm sorry for my mate trespassing on your land, she was obviously in the moment." I smile a little, thinking of Mara.
"I noticed she was human. But that's fine, she was a nice girl. My mate and I would love to accompany you and Mara to dinner sometime." He says.
"We would love to, how about tomorrow?" I ask, tomorrow being Saturday.
"Sounds great, I'll contact you for further details." He replies.
"Thank you Alpha Kyle." I say.
"Goodbye Alpha Ryder."
I hang up the phone and write down the dinner on one of my sticky notes.
Someone knocks on the door and I call for them to enter.
Dad leans on the door frame, "Hello son."
"Morning Dad, what can I do for you?" I ask.
"Just wondering if you're still up for this Sunday?" He asks.
I look down at one of my sticky notes that Josh and Trent decorated, it says 'Alpha Ceremony' in bubble writing and pretty flowers and love hearts around it.
I grin and look back to dad, "Yep, all good."
He smiles, "Great. That's all."
He walks out and closes the door.
I shake my head and chuckle, then look to Josh, "Oh Josh?"
He looks at me, "Yeah?"
"Love what you and Trent did to my sticky note."
He just smirks.
••••*••••
When I walk down the school hallway, I see Mara talking with the new werewolf, Torah.
I walk up to them and grip Mara's waist, "Torah." I nod.
She bows her head a little in respect, not really making eye contact.
"Good morning Alpha." She says.
"I'll see you in maths." Mara smiles.
"Okay, bye." Torah smiles back.
"Hey babe." Mara kisses my cheek.
"Morning." I smile.
"I'm so happy it's Friday." She sighs.
I chuckle, "Oh, Alpha Kyle rang this morning."
"What did he want?" She asks.
"He told me about your run in the other week." I grin.
She narrows her eyes, "I told him not to tell you."
I shrug, "But anyway, we have dinner with him and his mate tomorrow night. Is that okay?" I ask.
She nods and smiles, "Awesome."
The warning bell rings and I start walking to my class, "I'll see you after?"
She nods, "Yep, bye."
I walk into into the class and sit down in my usual seat. I feel someones eyes on me and turn my head to see Torah staring at me, when I make eye contact, a small smirk forms on her lips and she looks away.
Well thats, interesting.
