《The Lilly Within the Ashes》Ch 6

I am finally returning home. In the beginning there really wasn't anything for me to return too but more work that needed to be handled. Now I have my Angel to see.

This week has been the longest week of my life all because I couldn't see her. But by now she should have her sight back and her angelic voice that I have been craving to hear completely clear. Even when her voice was raspy, it sent tingles down my spine, soothing me into pure bliss.

"Sir we have arrived." my driver announced. I grunted as my responses and quickly got out of the car. The urge to sprint into the house was overbearing, but I had to control myself in front of my men that were guarding my property. The moment I opened the doors, I heard laughter coming from the kitchen. The laughter was so beautiful that I automatically knew it was her, making a small smile form on my face.

Quickening my steps, I went straight towards the sound. When I rounded the corner, everything stopped. She was sitting on one of the barstools with a smile and a happy glint in her eyes. Seeing her happy should make me feel overjoyed. In fact hopeful that she would want to stay here forever. But it didn't make me happy, in fact her smile made my blood boil. Not her smile itself, but to whom it was for.

Anthony.

He was smiling down at her, speaking to her so freely and causing her to laugh and smile. She needed to do that to me, not him. She is mine. Only mine. Not his.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing talking to my girl?" I gritted out through my clenched teeth. So clenched, that I think I heard them crack. "Oh hey Boss!" Anthony spoke cheerily. But I wasn't focused on him, I was focused on her.

I noticed her bottom lip started to quiver and tears brimming her eyes. Well fuck. I've made my entrance only moments ago and I managed to scare her again. Taking my eyes off of her for a moment and sending a glare towards Anthony, I asked him in the calmest tone I could muster, "Why are you talking to her?". Anthony's smile quickly dropped from his face and a look of realization crossed his face. "Sorry Boss. I was just asking her how her day was going." he spoke, clearing his throat a few times.

I lost it.

I shouldn't have knowing that I was going to scare her again. But while I'm working my ass off across the country constantly worrying about my baby, he has the audacity to get comfortable with my girl behind my back.

I pulled out my gun and aim for between his eyes. A scream is heard echoing through out the kitchen. "Maria, take her back to my room." I command. In my peripheral vision, I see Maria quickly grab my Angel and take her out of the room. "Jason it's not what you think it looks like." I could tell he was holding in his fear by keeping a calm face. "Oh really? Cause to me, it looked like you were kissing up to MY girl!" By this point the safety is turned off on my gun. "I was trying to make her comfortable around men again! And I don't see her that way. She reminds me of Ruby, okay?" he states. By the look in his eyes, I can tell he is not lying.

Ruby was Anthony's sister that was killed in a hit and run. The fact that he even said her name meant he wasn't lying if his face wasn't convincing enough. It also meant that he didn't see my girl anymore then a sister figure. A sigh escaped my mouth and I placed my gun back into my waistline.

"I didn't mean to make you bring her up." I mumbled, knowing that by making him talk about his sister would put him in a dark mood all day. Although I didn't like to admit it, Anthony was my best friend and like a brother to me. Our relationship, although not normal, worked for both of us and allowed us to have some sort of social interaction outside of family.

"It's fine. I was only trying to make the process of her accepting you easier. She's fragile and innocent but I know she will warm up to you quickly. You just might want to tone everything down." I quickly nodded towards him. "Well go talk to her!" he stated motioning with his hands towards the exit of the kitchen. I nodded again and walked out of the room. I could of sworn I saw a smirk on his face.

While walking up the steps, my mind kept running through what I was going to say to her. A simple "Hey" was beyond stupid and a "How are you doing" would just remind her that I just scared the living shit out of her. I was thinking of my introduction so much that I didn't even realize that I was already in front of our bedroom door.

I took a deep breath and before I could back out, I slowly opened the door. The moment I stepped into the room the first thing I saw was her. She was sitting Indian style in the middle of my bed. She had her hair up into a cute messy bun and had a book shoved into her face with a look of pure concentration. One word I would describe her right now would be beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

I closed the door, turning the knob so it wouldn't make a lot of noise once it closed. But a creak came from the wooden door, causing the beauty in my bed to look up. The moment she realized I was in the room with her, her eyes grew wide and her breathing started to quicken. I'm going to have to get this damn door fixed.

"Hey. Hey. Hey. I'm not going to do anything to you." I say calmly as I noticed her scooting to the furthest end of the bed. When I see her stop and just look at me, I noticed she wanted me to carry on. "I do apologies for what happened downstairs. I just want you to know that I will never hurt you. I will only ever protect you." I saw her nod her head slowly but the look of freight still was on her face. I grab the chair that was behind me and took a seat in it across the room from her. Once I noticed her shoulders and facial features relax, I ask her the question I have been wanting to be answered for the week and a half since I've known her.

"What is your name sweetheart?" The moment the question flew out of my mouth, her guard instantly went back up. As I thought, I didn't get a response. "Okay, I get it. You're still hesitant around me. That's fine." She quickly nodded her head. "Why don't I tell you a little about myself then?" She hesitated but slowly nodded her head yes.

I have never talked to someone about myself for so long before. But for my Angel to trust me, I would do anything for her. I talked about my childhood, to how Anthony and I met, to how I became the Boss, and to even my family. She knows more information about me then my own enemies do. More then Anthony probably. But for some damn reason, I just wanted her to know everything about me. At some point I was telling her about my day. I didn't do that to anyone one. Not even my own mother. As I was ranting my ass off about literally anything and everything, I was surprised to see that she was actually listening intently.

"Well I've been talking about a bunch of nonsense to you for almost two hours." I shyly smile at her. I wasn't embarrassed that I told this women literally everything about me, I more felt bad that she had to listen to me for the time length of an entire movie.

"Um I guess I will see you later?" I didn't receive a response. So with a sigh, I head over to the door. "Lilly." I hear a soft whisper. I turned around so fast with my eyeballs the size of fucking Pluto. "What?" I questioned barely above a whisper wondering if she actually spoke. "My-my name i-is L-Lilly." she stuttered. I couldn't tell exactly what my facial expression was at the moment, but I'm sure it was a mix of shock and pure happiness. It took me awhile to talk, but seeing she was becoming uncomfortable under my stare, I decided that it would be best that I leave. "Well Lilly, it's nice to put a name to such a beautiful face. It fits you well." I smile over at her. A small blush flushes across her shocked face.

As I walked out the door, only one thought kept crossing through my mind. She is absolutely perfect.
