《The Lilly Within the Ashes》Ch 5

I stayed up most of the night frightened that the man who has been terrifying me would come in and hold my hand again. By three o'clock in the morning, my body gave up and I passed out from exhaustion.

When I woke up to see that that man was not there, I was surprised to find myself a little disappointed. Maybe because his hand always felt warm and comforting, or the idea that, even though I couldn't see, he always seemed to want to care and worry about me. I haven't felt someone give me those emotions in a long time. I was an only child, and don't get me wrong, I knew my parents loved me, but once I moved out of the house, they went on with their lives while I went with mine.

I got up from my bed to the bathroom. While I was brushing my teeth after my quick shower, I noticed that I was able to make out my face in the mirror. Although I really had to focus, I could really see the details in my face. Excited about this discovery, I waited as patient as I could be for Maria to come in.

"Good morning Lilly. How are you doing?" I quickly jumped up from the bed and grabbed her face. "You are beautiful." And I wasn't lying. The friend that I had made was absolutely gorgeous. It slightly made me jealous of her looks, but I quickly erased it from my mind and just enjoyed that I got most of my sight back.

"Well I can see that you just got your sight back." she smiled. I quickly nodded my head while my stomach started to groan. "Alright I brought you breakfast and once you're done, I can give you a tour of the mansion." I started to shake my head yes until I realized I might see the man. Maria must of noticed my hesitancy and quickly reassured me that her boss was not here today. I started to relax and quickly told her I would love a tour.

The mansion was massive. I knew mansions were big, but this place is more of a castle then a mansion. According to Maria, there is twenty-five guest rooms. Ten of which have their own bathrooms that are for special guest, while the other fifteen share a communal bathroom. There is two master bedrooms and a total of twenty-three bathrooms. There is two kitchens, a theater , game room, gym, indoor and outdoor pool, two living rooms, and three offices. By the end of the tour, I was out of breath from all of the walking we endured.

We finished in the smallest kitchen in the house. "Do you mind if I have some water?" I asked. Within seconds, a glass of ice water was placed in my hands. "So do you like the place?" Maria asked with a look of hope on her face. "It's very big but it is nice." I smiled at her. "Oh good. Boss would really like to hear that." she exclaimed while slightly bouncing up and down. Before I could ask her where her boss was, a man came into the room. I knew he wasn't the man that I woke up to every morning, but he was the one that came and took the man away from me.

The kitchen was enveloped into silence. "Hello Anthony." Maria speaks, breaking the silence. "Hello Maria, and hello regina del capo (boss's queen)." He does a small bow and leaves the room after grabbing an apple from a basket on the counter. "Wh-what did he just call me?" I stutter in a bit of shock after the exchange. Maria quickly grabs my hand, leading me out of the kitchen. "Oh nothing bad, but I do not feel like explaining it right now." she smirks over to me.

The last couple of days flew by since I had more I was able to do besides sitting in a bed all day long. Every night I did go to bed very late since I was too scared to ask Maria when her boss would be back. But surprisingly I woke up every morning without him there. My nerves started to ease themselves.

I started to eat breakfast every morning in the kitchen, and every time Anthony would come in and say hi. In the beginning I was unsure about him, but I started to grow comfortable with him to a certain extent and would do a small wave back. This particular morning was a little different. He actually sat down with me. "Good morning regina del capo. How are you doing?" I was a bit shocked that he was trying to start a conversation. I had to inform myself that he would not harm me since all he has been was kind these last few days. "I-I am fi-fine. Th-thank you." I stuttered. A small smile crossed his face. "Glad to hear that. If you ever need anything, do not hesitate to ask. I will help you in anyway I can." I nodded my head with a small smile on my face. "Well I have some work to do for the Boss. I will talk to you soon." With that he got up and left.

Anthony did keep his word. He started to visit me every meal and we would have small talk. He mainly talked and I just answered with short responses or just nodded my head yes or no. As the rest of the week came to an end, I grew more comfortable that I didn't stutter when talking to him and he quickly became a brother figure to me. The best part of the week, I got my sight completely back and I was able to talk.
