《The Lilly Within the Ashes》Ch 3

I wake to light blinding my eyes even though they are closed. I try to move to go to the bathroom like I do first thing in the morning, but I'm stopped. A weight is wrapped around my hand and I can't seem to move it. I turn around and see a figure of a man. He looked similar to the man from yesterday that killed my parents. Not knowing what to do, my first instinct kicks in and I start screaming on the top of my lungs. The mystery man shoots up from his position and stands in front of me rapidly looking around. He pulls out what looked like an outline of gun...
Oh god I'm not ready to die! I had to escape a fire and defeated death once, I know I will never survive a gun. I start to scream louder and run to the corner of the room. "Princess? It's ok, I'm only protecting you!" he says moving closer to me. Protecting my ass, he still has the gun in his hand. He kept trying to reassure me that he is only protecting me and that everything was going to be alright.
My throat is still sore from inhaling the smoke and I start coughing. I'm now in tears and coughing my brains out. While I'm hacking up a storm, another man and a woman enter the room. "Jason, lets give her a minute. Okay?" the new man states. "Angel?" my attacker asks me before coming closer to me reaching his hand out to touch me. My throat still being sore and giving out on me, all I can do is cry and whimper.
Why would my parent's murder want to protect me? He told me that he would kill me. So many questions are going through my mind that I don't realize that the woman that entered the room earlier is trying to talk to me. "Miss. Devon? Can you listen to me please?" I shakingly nod my head for that's all I can muster to do. "I'm going to take you back to the bed. The men in here are gone." I just nod my head again and let her help me to the bed.

The women says something but I'm not paying attention. I hear her leave the room and I quickly wipe away the tears. It has become a pain for me not being able to see clearly. Everything has become a blurry blobs. I can see outlines and shapes but I can't see detail making me more vulnerable. I tried to evaluate my surroundings, but became annoyed and frustrated very quickly since I can not see anything.
The woman soon returns and places a tray of food on my lap. "You must eat. Ordered by the boss." she states in a calm but stern voice telling me that I will have to eat whether I want to or not. I again nod my head and eat the bowl of fruit, waffle, and wash down the orange juice to take the millions of pills I have to consume for my injuries.
The room is quiet for awhile, but the woman soon speaks up. "My name is Maria. I know you can't see me very well yet, but I'm the house maid." she speaks in a kind voice. "I-I'm Lilly." I rasp out. "Well Lilly, I'm going to dress your wounds and put those eyedrops in for your eyes. Is that alright?" I whisper a yes.
Within twenty minutes, I have new bandages and my eyes no longer feel scratchy. "Th-thank yo-you." I whisper. "Oh no problem! Now what do you want to do?" We ended up just talking for a long while. Well she mainly talked since I couldn't talk long without coughing up a storm. She took care of me and kept me company all day, almost making me forget about my killer.
Almost...
-----------------------------------------------
Seeing her quivering in fear broke my heart. She's supposed to feel comfortable around me. No, I NEED her to be comfortable around me. Last night took every muscle in my body to not crawl in bed with her and cuddle and breath in her intoxicating floral sent. I just want to ask her about herself and listen to her voice. God her voice. Although quiet and raspy now, it makes the heaven's sing.
Anthony takes me out of the room and leads me to my office. The moment I enter the office, I loose it. I start throwing chairs, swiping everything off my desk, breaking everything in my sight. I pull out my gun and shoot out my windows. I need to kill someone right now. Mainly that bastard that ruined her and my deal with her parents.

She's scared of me. Terrified is more of a better term. Why? I haven't done anything to her but tried to help her and show her love. I'm now pacing my destroyed office running my hands through my tangled hair after dropping my now empty gun to my feet.
"Boss?" I completely ignore Anthony as I'm trying to think of a plan to make her understand I won't hurt her. Screw this! I need to see her to make sure she's okay. As I take long strides to the door, I'm stopped by Anthony. "Jason." he sighs. "She needs time. She just went through a traumatic experience yesterday that not a normal person goes through." I try to shove him off. "Jason." He grits through his teeth. "Give her time. A man killed her parents and right now she needs to be away from the opposite sex." I stop pushing him because I know he's right, but I still give him a worried look. I use to never show emotion. Just a blank face since showing others what you're feeling shows weakness. But now, I don't care anymore. I just want to see my Angel.
"She's alright Jason. I have Maria watching her for the day and to come in every few hours to inform you what's happening with her. Alright?" I nod my head and he leaves my office.
I resort to downstairs in the living room so I can stay far away to not get the erg to see her. I also destroyed my office and it's the only other place I can work. While on my fifth file on our auto pistols shipments, I see Maria enter the room. I have never been so happy to see her until now. I stand up forgetting about my laptop, that is now on the floor, to shake the information out of her. "Calm down sir. She ate her breakfast and her wounds are dressed as well as her medication has been taken. She is listening to an audio book right now." Knowing she is alright and has calmed down, a small smile forms on my face. Realizing this, I wipe it off my face and clear my throat. "Thank you Maria. You a free to go back to her." With the look of shock on her face, I know she saw my smile, but because I know she enjoys her life, she would not speak a word about it.
The rest of the day continues the same way. I would bury myself in work to not think about her and Maria would come down every three to four hours to give me an update on her.
"Hey Maria?" I ask her before she leaves for the last time for the day. She just finished informing me she has finally gone to bed. "What is her name?" She goes to open her mouth but I quickly interrupt her before she speaks. "Nevermind. I will ask her myself." She nods and walks off. I know I can easily get her name by a snap of my fingers, but I feel like it would be more special if I hear it from her lips.
I try to get to my room as quick as possible without making noise. I probably look like a lunatic, not a feared gang leader, but I don't fucking care. I can feel like a pathetic teenager in love if I want to.
I slowly open up the bedroom and see her fast asleep on my bed. I bring up my reading chair to the side of the bed and resume the same position I was in last night. Sitting next to her while I stare at her like a creep. I gently remove the hair from her face and kiss her forehead. "Goodnight love." I whisper to her with my lips still connected to her forehead. I grab her hand and lay back in the chair, falling fast asleep now knowing my Angel is right next to me.
