《Alpha and His Luna》Chapter 3

Laura pov.
I kept staring at the man on top of the stars. I still was shocked from what Scarlett, my wolf, told me. This man on the top of stairs was my mate.
My mate was Alpha Ross of Black Night pack. He had one of the strongest packs ever. And he himself was a strong Alpha. He was ruthless. He didn't spare rogues that crossed his border line. There were a lot of rumors that he would kill everyone that disrespected him. He wouldn't even bat an eye for them and that scared me even more.
I heard that one time there was a family with two kids that all were rogues. They crossed his territory to get away from hunters. Alpha Ross took them to the prison and killed the parents and the children became omegas in his pack. Everyone treated them like dirt.
But again, they all are rumors and the only ones who know if they are true are him and his pack. So I can not judge him based on rumors.
I could see that his wolf was on the edge just like mine was before. Ross was looking around trying to find somebody. But lucky for me he started to look on his left side but I was on the right side of the ballroom.
While he was looking for something that was me, he was slowly walking down the stairs with his Beta and sister behind him. His dad and mother arrived a little later so they were now on the top of the stairs.
My mate was about to look in my direction so I pulled Emma with me and turned around. She looked at me confused and so did the others but I just shook my head at them. I couldn't let him see my face. He would recognize me as his mate immediately.
''Laura, what's wrong?'' Molly asked me.
''Is he still looking at us?'' I asked her and she looked back at my mate, ''and don't look at me while talking. Act normal.''
''Yes, he is looking in our direction'' she said, ''now at you''
I took a deep breath and pointed something in front of me, ''Emma act like we are talking''
''Why?'' she asked me, ''What's wrong?''
''He looked away'' Molly said and I nodded at her. I was about to turn around but she stopped me, ''Wait! He looked back at us''

I stopped and turned back so my back was faced towards him.
''Laura?'' Emma asked again but I just put my finger in front of my mouth and waited for Molly to update me on what's going on with my mate.
''Okay, he walked all the way down. He can't see us now'' she said and I slowly turned around and checked if she wasn't lying to me, ''now please explain to us why you don't want him to see you!''
''Yeah Laura, please explain!'' Emma said and I looked at my friends and then towards where Ross should be.
''He...he is my mate...'' I answered them.
''And you don't want him to see you because...'' Luke started.
''Hey it's better if he doesn't see her!'' Jackson said to Luke and Molly punched his arm.
''I don't want a mate right now.'' I answered.
''Why?'' Molly asked me confused and came to stand next to me while taking my hand.
''I mean he is from another pack so he will take me with him! That's for starters!'' I said and Jackson just nodded while the others frowned at me.
''And?'' Molly continued to ask after she glared at Jack.
''And...I am scared!'' I said and looked down ashamed.
''Oh Laura!'' Dylan said with a laugh, ''there is nothing to be afraid of!''
''Yeah right! I don't know how to be a mate!'' I said with a glare.
''Hey! None of us do!'' Luke said with a smile. I looked back at where my mate should be with his pack.
''Hey, it is going to be okay'' Emma said and I looked at her, ''Let's just enjoy the night and if something happens we will be there for you!''
''Yeah!'' Dylan and Luke said together. I gave them a small smile and we all went into a group hug. This is my family and I do not want to leave them.
''I still think she should pack her bags and run!'' Jack said and Molly punched him again. We laughed and Jack rubbed his arm, ''What was that for?''
''For being an idiot'' Molly answered with a smirk.
''Hey Luke! Don't you have to go talk on the stage?'' Emma asked to change the subject. Luke shook his head.

''No not yet, there is still one pack missing.'' Luke answered her and I looked at him confused.
''What do you mean?'' I asked him and he looked at me, ''I heard all of our neighbor packs being introduced by the man.''
''Yes, but I invited some other packs as well.'' He said and I mentioned him to continue, ''I invited some packs that we have as allies from all around the country.''
''Are you kidding me?'' Molly asked.
''Nope, there are 7 packs here right now and one coming soon.'' Luke answered.
''You mean you invited 4 more packs?'' I asked him and he nodded, ''Oh my god''
He let out a laugh. And just then the man introduced the last pack. We watched as the pack walked downstairs. It was the pack that helped us two years ago with some rogues that were attacking us.
''Wish me luck'' Luke said and walked away with Jackson and Dylan by his side. We gave him and thumbs up and waked in front of the stage where our other pack mates were.
I kept an eye out for my mate as well but I couldn't see him anywhere. I knew he was somewhere on my left because of his scent but I didn't see him. I looked back at the stage still nervous about him finding me but I knew that I shouldn't hide from him but I will not walk to him as well. He needs to find me first.
I put my mate at the back of my mind and looked at Luke who walked up to the stage with Dylan on his right and Jack on his left. They all had a serious face on.
I always had to laugh a bit when I saw Jackson being serious because I knew he was not like that. That dude can not stop smiling. All the time when all of us were together, he was smiling. He would make jokes and do silly things. He was the biggest joker out of all of us.
Luke walked behind the microphone and started to talk, ''Welcome to The Moonlight pack! I am happy to see you all here to celebrate with my pack the creation of The Moonlight pack!''
Everybody in the audience clapped at him and Luke gave them a small smile, ''The Moonlight pack was formed 60 years ago by my great-great-grandfather Robert Beck on this day with the full moon shining on us. I am proud to be the Alpha of this pack that was created on such a beautiful time.''
I smiled at him when he looked down at his pack. My packed clapped and so did the other packs.
''We have made some great friends and allies over the years and I am happy to see you all here with us!'' Luke said and again the crowd clapped.
''I hope you all enjoy the night! And thank you to my pack mates for helping me plan this night. Thank you Dylan, my beta, Jackson, my third in command, Molly, my sister, and thank you Laura and Emma, my dear friends, as well. Can you 3 come up here please?'' Luke asked us and I paled. If I walk there my mate will see me for sure.
I shook my head at Luke but he just nodded at me and I felt Emma and Molly pulling my hand. No, no, no...not yet. He can't see me yet! He should not find me like this!
I was trying to pull my hand away but so other people won't see what I was doing I couldn't really get away from them. I am going to kill them later for this!
When we were in front of the stairs I gave up and walked with them. I put on a fake smile on my face and walked towards Luke.
''Thank you all!'' Luke said with a smile and looked at us. We gave him a smile and the boys nodded at him, ''Enjoy the night!''
I was standing with my back towards where my mate was so I knew he didn't see my face but when I turned towards the other packs and my face was showing, there was a loud growl from my left.
I gulped and looked towards the growl. And like I thought, my eyes met the eyes of my mate.

Artemis
"Let them go, Dante." I whip my head to see a small boy standing the clearing with blonde hair and a green cloak hanging from shoulders. He isn't very tall however he holds his stance well. He doesn't seem to be more than Cassandra's age. Maybe 12 at most. I abruptly turn my head back hearing the man holding a sword to my throat chuckling with a sinister grin. "Oh, poor boy, what are you go to do about it?" The yellow teeth gleam as he begins stalking towards the boy who does not look the least bit fazed. I look around at the other men who are following the leader. I pull Cassandra tighter to my back as I take small steps back. I keep my eye trained on the men but also fear for the naive boy. "Do you really want to test me Dante?" He asks raising a single eyebrow. For a minute the men stop their movements. I see their hesitation for fear... Fear of what? I take the moment to stick Cassandra behind a nearby tree. She crouches down while I pull my sword out from its place. "How do you know my name?" The scoundrel raises his sword challenging towards the boy before taking a final step towards him. Then the unexpected happens. The young boy chuckles so darkly. It sounded almost... demonic. All the men instinctively raise their swords. "Oh Dante, I didn't know your name... but you know someone dear to me." "Spit it out boy!" The once grinning man is now looking around frantically. I continue my eyes scanning the small boy. He looks directly me and gives me a small nod before saying one word that caused all hell to breaks loose. "Artemis." Artemis is not an ordinary girl. She grew up in the wilderness after being shunned due to unique abilities and her different physical attributes. Blessed with an ability that scared others, she roams the wild with only her guarded one. That is until she stumbles into a situation that brings her in front of a prince.
