《Loveless Marriage》Chapter 4

He nodded, swearing to secrecy.

"I have a problem."

Those words alarmed him, his eyes widening.

"I have Androphobia. I get scared when I am near men. Especially if they are taller than me. I figured it out a few years ago." I whispered to him.

"Wait, so you love your husband but you are scared of him?!" He shouted. " Shhh!" I shushed him. " Sorry. But I just can't put my head around it." He held his head low.

"And the thing is, I am a doctor." A gasp sounded from him, loud enough to make a few heads turn around. I sighed, placing my head in my palms.

"Is something the matter, Lance? Is this woman bothering you?" A new voice boomed behind me. I turned around to face the bouncer from the entrance, but much closer. He was threateningly close to me.

My lungs started to disfunction. My breathing became sloppier. I started shaking slightly, out of fear.

"Sean! Move away from her. You are scaring her!" Lance shouted and placed his hands on my shoulder to calm me down. But that only worsened it.

"Shit!" Lance's shout faded through the fast beating of my heart. As my panic attack set in, I tried to think of something that would make me smile. Soon a memory filled in my mind, easing me.

I was reading a novel sitting on the sofa when I heard a sound. "Fuck!" His voice bounced off the kitchen walls, reaching my ears.

I rushed to the kitchen, throwing my novel away. My feet pulled to a stop when I saw his finger dripping with blood and the knife on the floor.

I immediately took out the first-aid kit from the cabinet and placed it on the polished counter. Turning the tap on, I pulled his finger under the running tap to wash the blood.

"I can handle it." He said, gruffly. I sighed before turning the tap off. I opened the first-aid kit and picked up the anti-bacterial cream.

Smudging some of it on his wound, I took a plaster out and pasted it on his cut. I threw the rubbish away before washing my hands.

He picked up the knife and continued cutting ham slices. "Just go and sit down. I will make it for you." My words did not seem to affect him.

Plucking the knife from his hands, I pointed to the living room. He left the kitchen without another word. I sliced the ham as I peered at the heating skillet.

I sighed before spreading one side of each slice of bread with butter. Placing one slice, butter-side down in the hot skillet below with Swiss cheese and ham.

I spread the unbuttered side of the second slice of bread with mayonnaise and mustard placing it butter-side up on top of the sandwich. I cooked it until the sandwich was golden brown and the cheese had melted, 3 minutes per side.

Sighing once again, I placed the sandwich on a ceramic plate and walked toward the living room. He was sitting on the sofa typing something on his phone. I placed the plate in front of him on the glass table and walked back into the kitchen.

After washing the utensils used, I dried my hands before walking back to the living room. I picked up my book from the floor and was walking to my room when I heard something.

"Thank you," I halted, my heart beating rapidly. I turned to him before replying.

"It is fine."

My breathing had slowed down, my chest moving up and down slower than before. I blinked a while looking around at my surroundings.

"Hey, are you ok?" Lance waved his hand in front of my face. "Yeah, I'm alive," I muttered, turning back to him. He had a worried look on his face but his gaze kept flicking to beside me. I turned to see what was there to see Sean standing, beside me.

As my eyes widened, he immediately started to move behind till there was an arm's length spacing in between us. I released a puff of breath out of my mouth.

"Sean, you better keep your distance between the both of you!" Lance threatened but ended up being cute.

Sean's lips perked up at the sides as he nodded. But as soon as his gaze landed back on me, they turned into a grim line.

"Care to introduce your friend to me, Lance?" Sean asked, placing his arm on the counter.

Knowing that Lance did not know my name, "My name is Hannah."

Sean's eyes went into slits. "Your full name, may I ask?"

"Umm, Hannah Moore," I lied. "Your actual full name, Hannah," Sean altered his statement.

I sighed. "Hannah Young," A gasp sounded from Lance.

"You are married to Mr Young?! As in Daniel Young?! Why didn't you tell me?" Lance's hand rested on his chest.

"I am sorry Lance but I didn't feel like it," I replied. "Aren't you supposed to be with Mr Young?" Sean asked, pulling on his shirt.

"Well this is what happened," Lance started to explain my situation to Sean, against my will.

I can't be bothered at this time. If everyone knows then good for me.

Sean's facial features had softened after the explanation given by Lance.

"Well, I didn't expect this from him. The magazines and the interviews he had given made it seem as if he was a great husband. Even the events the both of you attended made it seem as if you had a really good relationship." Sean stated.

"If you had seen her, why refer to her as a woman?" Lance questioned, propping his elbows on the counter.

"I couldn't quite recognize her without her face caked with makeup." He answered. I sighed, remembering the one-sided fights I had with him just because I didn't want to wear so much makeup.

"This is the fifth time you are sighing since you came in here with your friends. You aren't some saint to continuously sigh." Lance argued.

"I think I should be kept in the museum," I uttered, without thinking. Lance's eyes widened.

"What do you mean by that statement of yours?" Lance inquired.

"I...umm, I still have yet to get my first kiss stolen."
