{Angelina}

"Oh, this is so good," I said as I licked at the ice cream in my hand.

"Whats good is watching you eat it. You're turning me on sweetheart," Jake said, his eyes on me.

I stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and Jake bent over laughing.

"I'm joking," Jake said.

I narrowed my eyes as him before I continued walking, cautiously licking my ice cream cone.

"This is so much better than resting," I said. Jake chuckled.

"Really?" He asked. I nodded. It was so much better. I looked up at the darkening sky and sighed. Alpha bane would be worried.

"Maybe we should head back," I suggested. Jake glanced at me before he smiled.

"Race ya!" He said suddenly before he took off running. I stared in shock at him before I tossed my ice cream in a nearby trash can and took off after him.

I watched him shift just up ahead and I growled. He wanted to play now did he?

I shrugged out of my shirt and kicked off my jeans. Just as I hit the outline of the woods, I jumped, shifting mid-air.

I raced through the woods, following Jake's scent.

I seemed to be getting further and further away from the pack house. Maybe I should turn and go back.

jake said.

I growled when I caught sight of him just up ahead. I dug my back claws into the ground and shoved off, watching the trees fly by with a blur.

One moment I was chasing Jake and the next, I was flying through the air. I slammed into a tree and fell to the ground, my wolf growled at me and I got to my feet, my eyes searching the shadows.

I was outside of the silver falls territory. How had I not noticed that?

I sniffed the air, but all I smelled were roses. I turned and rolled, a large wolf landing right where I had just been.

I growled, shaking out my fur.

I shot forward, faking to the right before i went to the left. I sank my teeth into the wolf's back leg and it howled in pain.

I felt a sharp pain in my side and I let go of its leg, turning my attention to the wolf that was digging its teeth into my side. I twisted, grabbing hold of the wolf's neck and yanking. I heard a snap and then the other wolf was on me, biting and scratching.

I went up on my back legs, fighting for an advantage. I found it when the wolf turned its head to snap at me. I went in for the kill, sinking my teeth deep into the wolf's neck. I yanked back and I heard a loud snap.

Angrily, I turned, licking at the wound in my side. I turned and felt a weight crash down on my back. I felt like the air had been knocked out of me. I bucked but the wrigt didn't move.

Teeth sank into my shoulder and I whimpered when I felt the wolf connect with mine. I felt something hard against my butt and fear claimed me.

My wolf went on a rampage, bucking as hard as she could. The wolf lost its grip on my shoulder and I bucked again, sending it into a tree.

I cried into my mind, but all I got was static. I was alone. No...no Jake was out here. Jake was here.

I called out into my mind, my eyes never moving from the wolf that looked unconscious in front of me.

Jake's voice asked.

I turned my head, catching sight of Jake, limping out from behind a tree. My eyes took in the blood that soaked his fur. Poor Jake.

I said.

---------------------------

"Is he okay?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.

Justin sighed and turned to face me.

"Angelina, Jake is going to be fine," Justin said.

"Thank god-"

"Angelina. I mean, seriously. Jake is going to be fine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him. There's not a scratch on his skin," Justin said.

"What about all the blood that was on him?" I asked.

"Not his own," Justin said.

"What about the fact that he was limping?" I asked.

"I don't see why he would be limping. There is nothing to even support that. No broken bones, no claw marks, no bites. Compared to you, Jake is squeeky clean," Justin said.

"That can't be. He had blood on him, he was limping," I said.

"What were you guys even doing out there?" Justin asked.

"I was chasing Jake," I said.

"Outside of the territory? Alone?" Justin asked.

I nodded and that was when it hit me.

"No...you don't think...No," I said, shaking my head. Justin sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"There is no other explanation. Aren't you the least suspicious?

He lied to you about being the person to find you, he took you out into the middle of nowhere. He came limping out covered in blood that's not even his. There are no broken bones, he's in great health. You said yourself one of them tried to forcefully claim you. Where was Jake?" Justin growled.

"No. I'm not standing here and listening...wait what was the first thing you said?" I asked.

"That he wasn't the person who found you," Justin said.

"What?" I asked.

"I heard Jake tell you he found you. James was the one who found you and he got twenty-five lashes for that," Justin said.

"Where's James?" I asked.

"Lockup. He's doing ten days down there. For leaving the pack to come and find you," Justin said.

"Lockup?" I asked, my wolf growling.

"There are rules, Angelina. High ranked wolves aren't allowed to leave the pack without permission from the alpha or for probable cause. He left the pack when he shouldn't have. You aren't a member of his pack, Which means you are not his responsibility," Justin said.

My wolf stared pacing, growling in anger and fear. James could did down there....hold up, wait. Why do I care?

Because you love him still my wolf said and even if I wanted to deny it, it was somewhat true.

"Give me....give me some time," I said. Justin nodded and left, closing the door behind him. I turned to look through the glass that revealed Jake sprawled out on his bed. Was this all his fault?

I sighed and shook my head. Jake loved me. Jake wouldn't lie unless he had a very good reason. I just had to ask. Until then....I had to keep my mind off of...James.

James was locked up because of me. What was I supposed to say to that?

"Hey sexy," a voice said from behind me. I jumped and turned around, claws at the ready.

"You're a bit late sweetheart. If I was here to kill you, trust me you would already be dead," a boy said.

He was leaning in the doorway, one ankle crossed over the other and his arms crossed over his chest. He also happened to be shirtless.

"Who are you?" I asked.

He looked shocked for moment before he quickly recovered.

"Well....I'm a bit offened but I'm-"

"Chase," I said as I finally remembered him from my dream.

"So you do remember me," Chase said, his eyes narrowed.

"You were in my dream," I said.

"Really?" He asked.

"Yeah you snapped my neck," I said.

Chase sighed and scratched the back of his neck.

"Yeah....about that-"

"That was real?" I squeeled but threw my hand over my mouth to prevent from waking Jake.

Chase nodded, his eyes wondering past me.

"So...is that you're mate?" Chase asked, disgust flickering in his eyes.

I shook my head.

"No. That's my boyfriend," I said.

"So where's the bastard who rejected you?" Chase asked.

I stared at him for a second. Trying to figure out why he looked so...angry. Maybe brotherly love did exist.

"Well...he's in lockup because he came looking for me," I said as I plopped down into a chair.

Chase didn't move from the doorway.

"That's not your fault that's ours," Chase said.

I heard him move and before I knew it, he was crouching down in front of me.

"Listen...if the bastard rejected you, forget about him. He forgot about you didn't he? You have a boyfriend in there that loves you," Chase said. I sighed and looked down.

"That's the thing...his brother believes that Jake deliberately took me into the woods to be attacked," I whispered. Chase's eyes turned white and I looked up in time to catch a sliver of Orange and green pass through them before it was gone.

"I'm going to look into this. Okay?" Chase asked.

I nodded.

"If what you say is true...don't provoke the guy okay?" Chase asked.

I nodded.

"What are you doing here?" I asked after a moment of silence.

Chase pursed his lips.

"Charlie sent me. He was afraid that something might happen to you," Chase said.

"Why would he be afraid?" I asked.

Pain and guilt flashed in his eyes before he sighed.

"You're the last born child of his. Only you can take the thrown," Chase said.

I could tell he was lying. How I don't know, but I could tell.

"Tell me the truth," I said.

Chase looked shocked but he quickly recovered and smiled as if I was being funny.

"Chase," I said.

He sighed and was about to open his mouth when I heard footsteps approaching the door. I looked away for only a split second but when I looked back, he was gone. How?

Before I could even begin to answer my own question, alpha bane was standing in the doorway, his arms crossed over his chest as he took me in.

"I heard," alpha bane said.

He walked closer and sat down beside me.

"I'm thankful that you are okay and the people responsible for this will pay. I have heard Justin's theories and I will of course, hear my son's side of the story. Honestly, it seems far fetched. Jake is in love with you and would never willingly put you in harms way. The boy is harmless himself. He's sweet and you yourself know this," alpha bane said.

I nodded.

I didn't think Jake was capable of planning an ambush on me either. It just wasn't him.

Alpha bane sighed and looked down.

"As alpha of the possibly largest pack in the world...I have responsibilities and expectations to live up to. I have rules to follow and live by...and as much as it pains me. You are my third in command, Angelina. I gave you the position and you were entrusted with the safety of this pack and you jeopardized that. In many ways. I was waiting for you to recover from your return and now that you have...You understand what had to be done don't you?" Alpha bane asked.

I nodded.

I understood perfectly.

Alpha bane stood and stuck his hands in his pant pockets.

"Angelina sky falls, you are hereby froze. Do you understand that?" Alpha bane asked.

I nodded, fear eating at me.

I had heard stories of this but I couldn't believe it was happening to me.

"You are to report to the trial room at sundown," alpha bane said in his alpha tone before he turned and stormed out, the door shutting behind him.

I stared at the door for a moment before I let my face fall into my hands.
