《The Diner Girl》CHAPTER 12: Last Job....!?!?

Wow! I hadn't expected her to say yes to be honest last night but I'm glad she did though.

I already gave my dad the heads up of her not coming in and he said that of course she can have the day off but that he'll break my neck if I break her heart. In which I guess I deserve that since I haven't really been in a real actual relationship before, I guess that's fair judgement.

Now I'm not saying that this is gonna be anything serious but who knows. I'm getting at that age anyways not to mention that I have been kind if thinking about finding someone for a little while now since I see Neko and Brie together and see how happy they make each other.

Today, I needed to take care of some things and while Neko and I were in the office at the clubhouse as we went over the income for all of our businesses and discovered that there were a few we needed to sell off that weren't bringing us in much money.

"So what do you think about stop investing in the bars back in Ohio and Virginia?" I ask Neko.

"Yeah. Damn, what the hell were we thinking when we opened those?" He laughs.

"I'm not sure." I laugh.

We share a brief moment of silence between us before he gets ready to say something it seems when my cell phone goes off.

As I look down to see what caller ID says, it doesn't say a name but shows just the number. Curious to see who it was, I picked up.

"Yeah?" I answer.

"Is this Abe Evanhall?!" An older man's voice says.

"Yes. Who's this?" I ask.

"This is Mr. Carusso. My guy here tells me you're still interested in doing business with me." He says.

"That's right. I heard you're busy though." I point out.

"I'm just dealing with personal family matters at the moment. However, I do know how to separate business and personal. So I'm intrigued and very much interested in how you plan to make me a lot of money." He explains.

"Yeah well, that works both ways Mr. Carusso." I tell him.

"I agree. So why don't we meet up in a few weeks?! I'm gonna be back in the states and I can make sure to stop by somewhere close to you and we can discuss a plan." He suggests.

"Alright. Sounds good." I tell him.

"Good." He says. "I'll be sure to keep in touch from now until then."

"Fine." I tell him.

He next laughs and then we hang up. Right as I set my phone down, I look and see Neko looking at me both curious and confused.

"So is Mr. Carusso coming to meet us soon or what?!" He asks.

"In a few weeks. He's out of the country right now but will let me know in a few weeks when and where to have us meet up at and also said we'll make a deal." I tell him.

"That's good. At least he's willing to meet with us. That'll be even better for us money wise." He says sounding a little less interested than before.

"Yeah." I replied. "Is everything alright?" I ask.

"Yeah. Why?" He asks me.

"Well it's just you don't seem as interested in doing business with him like you were a week ago." I laugh a little.

"I know. To be honest, lately I've been thinking about all this." He says.

"What do you mean?" I ask thinking I know what he's talking about.

"About what we do." He tells me.

"I know what you mean." I admit.

"Really? Since when?" He asks sounding relieved.

"For a while. In fact, I was thinking this could be our last job. I mean, it isn't like we really kill people or anything like that, unless in self defense and I know though that a lot of our businesses are illegal for the most part but I don't know. I start thinking that maybe we're in too deep." I confess to him.

"I know, me too. That's why I haven't said anything." He admits as well.

"I think we should make this our last deal and think about how to get out of this and tell the guys. We need this last deal but we can make it for only one time transaction. Figure out what he wants and then that's it." I tell him.

He nods his head in agreement.

"Alright." He tells me.

"Good. Well, I better get back to the house, I've got plans tonight." I tell him while getting up and ready to leave.

"Oh that's right. Brie told me you were going out with Korah." He smiles.

"That's right and no I'm not telling you guys anything." I tell him.

We both laugh and start to head out. Meanwhile, before tonight's date, I need to get what all just happened moments ago to make sure I focus on Korah and I tonight and make sure that I don't fuck things up.
