《The Diner Girl》CHAPTER 10: Unfamiliar Feeling

I didn't expect for things to go as they did last night but I'm glad and hope she doesn't do that again.
When I woke up this morning, I had noticed she had already gone off to the diner as did my dad but my sister on the other hand ended up having to stay behind cause she was sick and knew that would leave my dad short handed.
Since it was a holiday weekend, it meant that it would be packed and I know that other than my sister and Korah, the other teens that work there wouldn't be much of a help so I decided since I had nothing going on this morning that I would go and help them out.
After pulling up in the back of the diner, I got off my bike and then walked in through the back door and into through kitchen where I saw my dad going as fast as he could cooking and doing more than one order at a time, I hurried and put one of the extra cooks aprons on and walked up beside him.
"Hey old man! Whatchya need me to do?" I ask.
"Oh thank god. I need your help in catching me up. I am behind on two orders." He says.
"Alright no problem." I laugh a little.
I turn the wheel that has the food order tickets on it and start in on the two orders he is behind in.
Then after cooking the two orders, I notice Korah hurry up and say out loud the orders she just took and put the ticket on the wheel.
When she looked and saw me I winked and smiled at her and she stopped for a moment to smile and blush a little before turning back around and continue working. I bet it surprised her to see me helping out.

After getting all caught up and once the crowd started to die down, my dad sent the two teen waitresses home which I think he should personally fire because it was all Korah doing everything and she even had to tell them a few times to do their jobs. Which I hate people like that.
While Korah was cleaning up the tables and putting things away there was only an hour left for the diner to be opened, I told my dad that I would close up tonight. So he left and now it was just Korah and I.
I was getting ready to say something to her when this kid who looked to be around eighteen or so and looked like a jock, came walking in laughing with a few of his friends and sat down at one of the booths, I noticed him looking at Korah and giving her a 'what's up' nod. She looked at him rolled her eyes then I saw her turn to face the milkshake machine and take in a deep breath while closing her eyes and letting it out not knowing I had noticed then started making her way over towards the table.
Wait a minute! I thought to myself, is that the fucker she was out on a date with the other night? I started to get tensed up and create fists with my hands while restraining myself from jumping over this counter towards him and beating the shit out of him.
I don't know what he did to her, but since he's the reason I know as to why she cut herself, he's dead in my book.
I try not to make it too obvious that I'm eavesdropping while noticing her walk up to them to ask for their order.
I can't hear exactly what their saying but the way she is moving and the sound of her voice, I can tell she isn't comfortable. So I decide to make my way over to him and his friends.

"Is there a problem?!" I ask as I see Korah breaking her wrist free from her the guys grasp.
"Oh great the bad ass biker dude is here." The guy says in a disrespectful and a mocking tone of voice.
"I think it's time for you boys to leave." I tell him. As I promised my dad I wouldn't fight in the diner ever.
"Or what? You're gonna have one of your guys cut me or something?!" The guy says as he stands up.
"I don't need my guys to do anything for me. Besides, there's really no need for you to act all tough and shit when we all know you can't fight worth-a-damn." I tell him.
"Oh yeah? How about you and I go right now?" He threatens.
"Pff, please. I ain't gonna waste my time on someone like you." I try hard not laugh.
He laughs and looks back at his friends then turns back around and tries to take a swing at me but I catch his fist then grab his shirt collar and start pulling him harshly towards the door.
Once out the door, I push him down to the ground and then all of his friends come running out to help him up.
"Now you listen to me. You and your friends are never to come in this diner ever again and if you ever come near Korah again, I'll skin you alive along with your friends." I threaten him through clenched teeth.
Just like I thought by calling his bluff him and his friends start running off scared shitless. Fucking amateurs.
When I walk back inside, I see Korah standing by the door. I was afraid of what she might say. Then something happened that I didn't see coming but yet at the same time.....is comforting?!?
She hugged me.
"Thank you." She says.
I don't say anything and just accept how amazing it feels having her in my arms.
