《Beyond The Walls | ✔》Ch 60: Surprises

As I stepped outside, the cool rush of wind made me shiver and I tugged at the shawl draped on my shoulders.
I was slightly tipsy, so I was hoping I wouldn't have to go much farther because let's face it, I was tired as hell right now.
I saw Ace standing in the alley right behind the banquet hall, and I frowned as I made my way over to him.
What the hell was he doing there all alone?
I approached him, "Ace?"
He didn't say anything, which concerned me even more. I had no idea what was going on in his head and it freaked me out, to say the least.
"Ace?" I tried once again.
"Hey Princess..." he whispered with his head hung low. At least him calling me Princess was somewhat comforting.
"What's up..." I asked, taking a step closer to him I fixed his tie as he watched me with a calculating gaze.
"I want—no, I need you to come with me," he tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my ear and I frowned.
"Sure, but where?" I asked
"Do you trust me?"
"Yes," I said without a moment of hesitation.
"Then come along," he smiled at me. A genuine smile and I chuckled as he grabbed my hand and started walking away from everyone.
"But we didn't even get to danceee," I whined like a child and he rolled his eyes with a smile on his lips as he looked back at me.
"Shut up and come."
******************
Two hours later I was sitting on an airplane going to God only knew where in my bridesmaid's dress.
Should've freaking known.
"Ace I'm tired," I said yawning as I watched him typing on his phone furiously.
"I know. Me too," he said nonchalantly without lifting his head up from the phone which pissed me off even more.
"What the hell are we up to?" I tried once again while getting comfortable on the bed.
"Nothing much," he replied nonchalantly yet again and God I wanted to break that phone of his.

Angry at him and somewhat at my curious ass too, I turned to the other side and closed my eyes before I let the darkness of a slumber consume me.
************
"Princess..." I felt someone nuzzling in the crook of my neck. I smiled and opened my eyes.
"Hey.." I whispered as I looked at him hovering over me.
"Wake up sleepy head."
"Mhm," I yawned and sat up on the bed as I looked around and noticed that we weren't on the plane anymore.
"Where are we?" I asked as Ace circled around the bed towards the dressing table and rolled his sleeves while taking his jacket off.
"Somewhere," he winked at me in the mirror and I groaned in annoyance while standing up from the bed.
"Get ready. I'll be back soon," he said as he came nearer to me and tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my ear.
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere," he smirked and kissed my cheek before skirring away leaving me all alone in a room.
I looked around and took in my surroundings. We were in a penthouse that I was pretty sure I hadn't even seen from afar.
I stepped out on the balcony, taking in the cool breeze as goosebumps rose up on my entire body.
I didn't even have clothes with me. How did Ace expect me to get ready, anyway?
I rolled my eyes and walked back into the room as I stretched my arms and entered the bathroom.
As I stepped in I saw a box lying there on the countertop. I frowned and moved towards it and saw a note stuck to its lid.
I smiled and opened the box. There was a dress in it and let's just say my smile widened when I saw the note inside right on top of the dress
I took it out of the box. It was a simple red knee-length dress. It wasn't that formal neither it was very casual which told me that wherever we were going it wasn't a party with shit tons of millionaires so I didn't have to be anxious.

I quickly washed my face and stripped out of my clothes before putting the dress on. I was already wearing red heels so they went perfectly well with the dress, because knowing Ace, he probably forgot to buy me accessories.
I brushed my hair and put on some light makeup before running back to the room. Looking at my reflection one last time in the mirror, I hurried downstairs.
I frowned when I realized that the place was hanging with the smell of food.
I thought we were having dinner outside.
Following the smell, I led myself to the kitchen and found Ace standing on the stove with his back turned to me.
I leaned against the doorframe and drank him in. The way he moved, the aura of authority—confidence he radiated, it had mesmerized me from the very beginning, and still whenever I saw him working like that, I could just lose myself in him.
After two minutes of creepily staring at my boyfriend, I decided to sneak up on him.
I very quietly made my way over to him on my tiptoes so he wouldn't notice another presence in the room.
"Whoo" I said right into his ear when I was so close to him that I could practically smell his cologne.
He turned around and rose his eyebrow at me.
What the...
I couldn't even scare him enough for a teeny tiny gasp.
"Hey.." he wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me into his chest and I immediately drowned myself in his scent.
"What are you doing?" I asked, running my finger along his jawline.
"You'll see," he said with a slight smile and although I hated surprises, I didn't know why I couldn't bring myself to be anything but excited about whatever Ace was planning on doing.
"Go sit on the couch. I'll be there in some time," he said and removed his hands from around me and I immediately missed his warmth.
"How long are you gonna takeee," I whined like a three-year-old and he shook his head and chuckled lightly.
"Just a few more minutes, Princess. I promise," he pecked my cheek and practically pushed me out of the kitchen as I went to sit on the couch opening my Instagram feed.
After a few minutes of getting lost in the pictures of Noah's and Emily's wedding, I felt someone put their hands on my eyes and I was about to scream before I realized that the cologne was Ace's, of course.
"Almost got you," he whispered in my ear.
"The keyword being almost," I said proudly and felt him chuckle behind me.
"Don't open your eyes yet," he instructed as he removed his hands from my eyes and I heard him circle around the couch so that he was standing right in front of me now.
"Stand up," he said and I obliged.
I didn't know if this was just my mind, but the way he kept ordering me sure as hell was turning me on right now.
I felt him intertwine our hands together before we started walking to God only knew where.
For heaven's sake, I thought I was gonna get food now.
"Careful," he said and placed one of his hands on the small of my back as we passed I don't even know what because I was so not familiar with this place.
After some time I felt us standing in the open air but I didn't say a word and waited for him to continue leading me.
"Now, my darling, open your eyes," he whispered in my ear in his husky voice.

RE: DEVTHOR
From a certain author's perspective, the world he lived in had always been a boring uninteresting place. If asked if he could name one good thing about it, he probably couldn't. Up until forty, he lived in complete isolation and solitude, but he never once regretted or felt dissatisfied about the kind of life he lived. But despite being content with such a lifestyle, it seems some god... or perhaps some busybody devil galavanting about playing pretend god was immensely dissatisfied with the way he lived his life and wanted to play a sick joke on him by sending him back to his first day in high school after he died a mysterious death. Approached by a suspicious red-haired girl shortly after awakening and recognizing where he was, he's abruptly given a second chance at a youth filled with romance. But what does this forty years old man turned sixteen do when confronted with youth? He flips youth off and tells it to take a hike, he's having none of it. If there was some sort of godly existence watching over him from somewhere unknown, their only natural reaction would be to facepalm and question what was wrong with this incompetent romanceless idiot who knew nothing of love. Low fantasy only really starts to appear around volume 3. Presently there are 7 volumes for this series totaling about 850k words.
