《Beyond The Walls | ✔》Ch 59: The Ceremony

She looked beautiful. Utterly beautiful.

We stood there, with our jaws on the floor as Emily walked down the aisle followed by Isabelle right behind her.

To say that she had my entire attention didn't do justice to the truth. An ocean of emotions came rushing to me when I saw her entering through that door.

It seemed almost as if she were walking down the aisle for me...

A slender waist, whistling down from her bust, as smoothly as the water from a waterfall. The bends of her hips and the fullness of her bosom, reminiscent of the idea of perfection.

As she was fixing her hair, with those long slender arms, her navel naked for the world to view, her dress hung so comprehensively, that the cuts of her body became unmistakable by the red and dark dress which supplemented her clear cream-based shading. The glistening skin, strikingly balancing the redness of her dress, was enough to make my heart stop for a few seconds as I drank her in, her being completely oblivious to the things she was doing to me.

Her eyes met mine and she smiled, once again causing my heart to ache in my chest.

I never knew you could love someone this much.

I tried to smile back but I couldn't, it was as if I was paralyzed—paralyzed by the thoughts swarming in my head. I was hyperventilating. I'd never felt this way before.

The fear of losing her, the hopes of making her mine, the past, the future.

I saw Isabelle. In everything, I saw that one face that made my insides churn.

And in that very moment, I made my decision, I knew what I was going to do next.

I was waiting for a reaction. Something, anything but he just kept staring. A lost look on his face—Ace just kept staring at me.

He did not seem okay.

I noted in my head to ask him what was up as soon as the ceremony ended.

Emily looked back at me one time last before smiling and taking the steps up to where Noah was.

I couldn't believe it but NOAH BLACK WAS CRYING.

His eyes were glistening and it was so obvious that he was trying his best not to break down. I never knew my best friend was such an emotional person.

It was time for their vows and I handed the paper to Emily but she lightly shook her head in no and smiled at the audience before taking a deep breath and averting her eyes to Noah.

"Noah, you came into my life at exactly the right time; when I wasn't ready, and yet, when I needed your love the most. In the past seven years, we've encountered incredible triumphs and literal disasters together. These trials have pushed the limits of what we figured we could suffer, and eventually, I feel all the more unequivocally associated with you in a purpose to get up and attempt once more. I love you beyond a reasonable doubt for all that you are. I am amazed by the small attempts you do for me and tickled by the sense of protectiveness you hold over me. I may not want to admit it, but I even love your awful puns."

There were tears in both of their eyes as they lightly laughed along with the small chuckles that erupted from the audience.

"As your better half, I guarantee to cherish you with a similar assurance that certainty you've given me. I vow to support you through more ups and downs. I pledge to invest in our family and the great I realize will develop from it. I promise this all to you until I am no more."

I didn't want to admit it, but I too was trying my best to hold back my tears. They were just...magical.

Noah laughed a little as he shook his head and wiped his eyes before looking heavenwards, taking a deep breath in and diverting his attention back to Emily.

"Emily, I love you with all my heart. I cannot begin to explain how thankful have I been for these past seven years for that one fateful day when I saw you naked through your window."

Everyone laughed as Emily playfully smacked Noah's chest.

"When we started dating, I gained a family, a girl who loved me— whom I adore with all my heart. You make me a full person. Committing the rest of my life to you is actually pretty easy because without you I am nothing. I vow to wake up every morning and thank God that he gave me you, my perfect woman, and I vow to be your steady rock in turbulent times. I vow to put your needs before my own."

"I promise to take care of you even when you get food poisoning on Thanksgiving. I promise I will unclog the shower even though only one of us has long hair. Cupcake, I love you unconditionally and always will."

Everyone clapped in awe as I brushed off a tear that had managed to escape. This was my favorite couple...ever.

Time passed quicker than I thought and finally, it was time for the best man's speech.

Everyone cheered as Ace jumped onto the stage again. He had rolled his cufflinks and loosened his tie just a little bit and to say that he looked hotter than any other man in the entire room was an understatement.

"So..." he coughed and took the mic off its stand. "Introductions first I guess... My name is Ace for those of you who don't know me, well firstly you should and secondly, I'm Noah's long-suffering friend and fortunately for me and unfortunately for him, his half brother too," he gave Noah a tight-lipped smile and winked. The smile on Noah's face said it all.

"Well on my second birthday, I really wanted a puppy but William here—" he signaled towards William who was just sitting there with a grin bigger than America "—brought me this shithead instead. Not that there was any difference but you get the idea."

"Although I didn't get to spend my childhood with him, I've always known that Noah's a reserved person. All my life, I've watched him act all tough while being sensitive like a little bitch. He didn't commit. Never. Noah and commitment couldn't even come in one sentence that much of a scaredy-cat he was but, Emily, ah. When she came I watched everything change in front of my very eyes.

I couldn't be more grateful to her for finally being able to bring him out of his walls and cope with his annoying ass for the past seven years.

Now for Noah, I remember the time when we used to be alone at home and he cooked and it was my job to go from room to room taking out all the batteries from the smoke alarms. Don't worry Noah, I won't tell about the time when back in middle school you got into a fight and literally pissed your pants when they showed up with their brothers. And definitely not of when your seventeen-year-old ass called me the day Emily agreed to be your girlfriend and you quite literally damaged my hearing screaming like a girl. That's between you and me bro. Don't you worry."

Everyone was laughing while patting Noah's back as Ace continued speaking. He mesmerized me. His way of speaking, like he owned everything he walked on. His confidence. It drew me more towards him.

"Again, Emily, I'll never understand how you cope with him. In the end, I'd like to congratulate and thank the beautiful couple on behalf of all the bridesmaids who might I add, looked stunningly breathtaking today—" his eyes caught mine for a second and I bit my lip as I saw the slight smirk on his face. "—we're really glad you let us be a part of this beautiful ceremony. Cheers to Noah and Emily!"

**************

The ceremony ended and I came out of the dressing room as my eyes roamed all around for the one person I was craving to see right now.

It seemed as if Ace was avoiding me and the fact that he looked ravishingly handsome today made it worse.

"Hey, have you seen Ace?" I asked Joaquin, Noah's assistant and he shrugged and shook his head no.

When I had looked for him for an entire eternity I slumped down on the chair with a long face.

He couldn't do that to me.

I put so much effort in dressing up for him just to see his reaction and his reaction you may ask; first, he freezes when he sees me enter, then he avoids eye contact the entire ceremony and then he ditches me and disappears into thin air.

What a boyfriend.

After ten more minutes when I had finally given up wandering my eyes here and there for him, Zachary came from behind and flicked my ear.

"Ow, what is wrong with you?" I said, annoyed.

"Pretty much everything," he shrugged with a sweet smile. "Ace is calling you at the backside of this hall."

He informed me and I frowned, "Um...everything okay?"

"I don't think so. He seemed pretty serious and well...messed up."

It was safe to say that I was freaking out now.

First, he acts that way, and now this. Did I look that bad that he was thinking to break u— no it couldn't be. I shouldn't think nonsense. We were adults. He ought to be worried about something else.

I stood up as my eyes fell on Noah and Emily dancing in the middle of the dance floor. Both looking at each other with so much love that I had to tear my gaze away because it seemed as if they were sharing an intimate moment and I was intruding.

I wearily made my way out towards the exit.

It felt as if something was about to change.
