《Beyond The Walls | ✔》Ch 58: Brothers

The big day was here, and it was safe to say there wasn't a single person in this house who wasn't losing his/her mind.

Except Ace, of course. He was as calm as one could get.

"I said WHERE THE FUCK ARE HER EARRINGS?!" Zach screamed towards us into the living room.

"DON'T CUSS IN FRONT OF THE BABIES YOU STUPID—" I controlled myself and stopped mid-sentence.

"OH COME ON IT'S NOT LIKE THEY UNDERSTAND SHIT. HER EARRINGS, NOW!"

"Fine, I'll look," I said and handed Zoe over to Ace, who was apparently way too busy figuring out the difference between turquoise and teal.

"Here hold her I'll be back," I said to him and was about to turn around when he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him so that I almost fell on him on the couch.

The keyword being almost.

"When are you gonna get ready?" he asked gently and tucked my hair behind my ear.

"Soon. I just need to do a couple of chores then I'll dress up real quick," I said with a smile and he frowned.

"Ask Zachary to handle the chores," his voice was like that of a five-year-old that made me chuckle.

"Everyone's busy, Ace. Besides, it's fine, it's Emily's big day and I want everything to be perfect so I'll make sure to handle everything myself."

"Fine then. Do you think you could take out a few minutes for us to have se—"

"Oh for Christ's sake Ace," I gently smacked his chest and turned around, furiously blushing like an idiot.

As I exited the living room and made my way towards the stairs, I bumped into Noah on my way.

Who was still in his sweatpants, might I add.

"I see someone's dressed up already," I said sarcastically and he looked down at himself and shrugged.

"I have two hours woman. I'm sure I can dress up four times in that much time," he replied nonchalantly.

"Make sure you don't go in front of Emily like this. Just a friendly reminder," I patted his shoulder and walked past him towards the stairs.

As I was climbing up, I saw Alex coming down in his suit fixing his cufflinks with his hair styled to perfection and his attire practically screaming 'I'm sexy and I know it'.

You see, two types of people right there.

"Getting laid tonight, aren't we?" I said as we crossed each other on the stairs.

"Can't let 'em be the only ones having fun tonight!" he winked and yelled after me and I chuckled to myself.

I swear we had all types of people in this house today.

When I stepped inside Emily's room, I gasped as I saw her standing in front of the mirror wearing her wedding dress.

"Oh, my God," I whispered to myself as she noticed my presence behind her.

"How do I look?" she asked, she wasn't wearing makeup yet because her stylist and Zach were apparently busy fighting over something on the other side of the room but even without all that, she looked magical.

"You're the prettiest bride I have ever seen," I stepped closer to her and held her hands in mine and she bit her lip in nervousness.

"It's happening," she whispered so low that I ought to have missed it if I wasn't paying this much attention to her.

"It is. And it's gonna be perfect—I promise you," I hugged her as she rested her head on my shoulder.

She stayed there for a little while and I felt her sighing heavily like something was bothering her so I asked her what it was.

"It's nothing. I just...miss someone," she gave me a sad smile and I frowned and nodded my head, telling her to continue.

"Chris...my brother. I just wish he were here to walk me down the aisle," her eyes became watery and she lightly chuckled and turned around to grab a tissue from the dressing table.

"Hey, it's okay. Come here," I hugged her again as she sobbed gently.

Emily lost her brother at a very young age and we all knew how much she missed him even after all these years.

"I'm sure Alex would kill him himself if he'd take his place to walk you down the aisle," I joked and she chuckled before parting from me and giving me a smile.

"Why aren't you dre—

"You guys sure I'm the only one who's gay here?" Zach came towards us, nodding towards Emily's and my hands intertwined together and Emily smacked his shoulder before both of them started bickering again and I stood there shaking my head.

I came out of the room, dressed for the ceremony and I saw Alex and Noah all dressed sitting on the couch talking about...well I didn't know what and it wasn't like I cared anyway.

"So...I'm assuming you're done with the speech, huh?" Alex asked while putting down the magazine he was previously holding.

"What speech?" I plopped on the couch beside Noah.

"Dude, the best man's speech. What, you high already?" he quirked an eyebrow leaning a bit forward to look at me.

"Nobody said a word about any speech!" I reasoned looking at Noah for help while he just shook his head in disappointment.

"Should've fucking known," I heard him mumble underneath his breath while I helplessly looked around for help.

"What else do you think the best man does? Just stand on the stage checking out the bridesmaid's ass?" Alex chirped in, his voice laced with sarcasm on which he got a good smacking on his head by Noah.

"Fine then. I'll do a speech. How hard could it be, anyway?" I rolled my eyes in annoyance as I stood up to look for Isabelle.

When I couldn't find her anywhere, I started advancing towards Emily's room, hoping I'd find my girl there.

"Woah woah woah. Where do you think you're going?" Zach asked, one hand on the doorframe.

"Uh—to find Isabelle?"

"You can't go in there," he shook his head and I rolled my eyes for the gazillionth time today.

"Fine then, call her outside."

"Not happening either," he gave me tight-lipped smile and I frowned.

"What now?" I groaned in annoyance.

"You can't see the maids yet either. Shoo shoo ponyboy, we'll see you in half an hour," he slammed the door shut on my face, and I cursed under my breath.

"Knew I hated you from the beginning!" I yelled while going back downstairs and I could practically hear the 'yeah fuck you, too' from the other side of the door on my way down.

************

"I hope you don't kick my ass after I screw this up," I sweetly smiled at Noah while we walked towards the hall where the ceremony was supposed to take place.

None of us had seen how did the girls look yet and let's just say we were pissed and excited at the same time, to say the least.

Even Alex, who by the way, was supposed to walk Emily down the aisle hadn't seen any of the bridesmaids or the bride herself.

"Hey, assholes!"

Speaking of the devil.

"Yes?" I turned around and so did Noah, who was starting to sweat like crazy and I could have sworn I saw his hands shaking.

"The girls are here, I'm going backstage to get Emily and everyone. You both—" he pointed to us and then towards the stage, "—on the stage. Right now."

We walked towards the stage as everyone took their seats and I could see Noah getting even nervous every passing second.

"Man I'm losing my shit," he whispered to me as we took the steps up towards the stage.

"I can see that. Well I'm not sure how to console you right now, but eh Emily's a great girl, I'm sure you'll survive," I waived it off and he looked at me with disbelief in his eyes.

"Why am I friends with you again?"

"Brothers, my man. Brothers."

This was the first time I had openly admitted to it without making a disgusted expression and I swore I saw Noah's eyes shine as he took a second glance at me.

He hid his smile, the slight expression that was anything but disgust and I winked at him as we saw the audience standing up and looking towards the entrance.

"Well Noah, here goes everything."
