《Beyond The Walls | ✔》Ch 5: Same Flavour

After giving the policy paper back to Mr. Rhodes, I was currently setting up my cabin with Daniel - the mentor that Mr. Rhodes appointed for me.
"So is he like....like this all the time?" I asked as I put the files in the drawer.
"What are you talking about?" Daniel chuckled as he seated himself on the chair. His expression clearly stated that he knew what I was talking about.
"Oh, come on, you know what I'm saying," I rolled my eyes and sat opposite to him on the chair that was supposed to be mine.
"Well, pretty much, yeah. He acts like an ass all the time," he whispered the last part and I chuckled, shaking my head lightly.
I was right about Ace Rhodes. He was an A-class asshole.
Almost everyone in the office preferred to be out of his line of sight. He didn't give two shits about your looks or your family background. He would fire you without giving it a second thought if he wanted to.
Just like I said, an A-class asshole.
"Well, I guess I've done a great job at mentoring you. Now I'll leave before Mr. Rhodes finds me here and decides that I'm not worthy enough for this job anymore," he chuckled and stood up from the seat and I nodded my head and mouthed a 'thank you' to him before turning my attention back to the desk.
A MacBook Pro was sitting right in front of me on my desk and I was having a hard time not drooling over it. I mean, just look at that apple logo — ahh.
I turned it on, logged in to the e-mail account they just gave me and started doing the work that was written on the paper provided.

*********
My eyes were stuck to the wall clock right in front of me.
And it was 6 pm.
I got up from the chair and did a little victory dance as I picked my bag up from the couch and started making my way out of the cabin.
Hallelujah! I survived the first day.
I pondered over whether I should bid a goodbye to my boss and let him know that I was leaving or just escape out of this hell.
The former seemed like a good option.
I knocked on his door and opened it as I heard his 'come in'.
"Good evening, Mr. Rhodes, I just wanted to let you know that I was leaving," I murmured and almost took pity on him when I saw his face.
He looked tired and drained as hell.
He looked up from his laptop, "It's 6 already?" He rubbed his forehead and leaned back on the chair with a worn out look on his face.
I just wanted to scream at his face to leave the goddamn work and sleep for a little while. He would get sick if this continued.
"Yes, Mr. Rhodes. You look tired, can I help you with something?" I asked because no matter how big of a bitch I was, I certainly wasn't this heartless to leave the poor soul all alone.
For the first time since I entered his office, he brought up his eyes to look at me with an unreadable expression on his face. He looked at me for a good five seconds and then said, "Actually, I'm good, but I'd really appreciate if you'd check out if the café is still open and ask somebody to fetch a cup of coffee for me."
I smiled, "Of course."

As I entered the first floor, I realised that the café was closed and there was nobody around here.
Great. Just great. Here goes my useless attempt to impress him.
I whined and tapped my feet on the ground like a five year old.
What? I was tired, okay.
A total of wasting my two minutes and thirteen seconds on thinking for something that I could do for my boss, I came up with a really pathetic idea.
But hey, Isabelle was always down for pathetic ideas.
************
I knocked on his office door with one hand as I held the cappuccino in the other. I went all the way to Starbucks, wasting my twenty-three minutes, just to fetch a cup of this coffee for my grumpy, very sexy boss.
"Come inside," I heard him say as I opened the door and saw him buried in a shit ton of papers.
"Here's your coffee Mr. Rhodes," I said as I put the cup on his desk and took a step back. I started fidgeting with my fingers nervously as I waited for his reaction.
"You're still here? And what took you so long?" he finally lifted his head up and picked the cup up his hands.
"I..." I started, but as always I didn't know what the hell was I supposed to say.
"Wait, this is not our café's coffee -
he started and then looked down at the cup in his hands,
- you went all the way to Starbucks just to get me coffee after your office time?" realisation dawned upon him and he looked at me with an expression that only said one thing 'Are you kidding me?'.
"Um....yeah..?" I murmured and nervously bit my bottom lip as he leaned back on his chair and looked at me in a way a predator would look at his prey.
I took a step back as he stood up from his chair and circled around his desk and stood right in front of me with at least a one arm distance between us.
"Well, Miss Reinhart, I really appreciate what you did, but I'd like if instead of working extra hours, you'd just go back home, yes?" his voice dropped down to a whisper as he spoke and I had a hard time not falling on my knees right in that precise moment.
"O-of course, Mr. Rhodes. I'll leave now," I stuttered and internally smacked myself for being a pile of hormones in front of my boss.
I took a step back from him, then another, turned around and held the door handle to open it and run at the speed of seven hundred and fifty three kilo metres per second when I heard him say my name again.
"Yes, Mr.Rhodes?" I turned around, while clutching the door handle hard in my hand.
"You're going to bring me coffee every morning from tomorrow onwards," he smiled sweetly at me and I almost shit my pants with nervousness.
"Of course. Anything else, Mr. Rhodes?" I said through gritted teeth as I tried my level best not to lose my composure.
"Same flavor," he looked at me and smirked like he knew very well what he was doing to me. I nodded my head and muttered a goodbye before flying out of his office.
