《Last Chance✔ (Completed)》Chapter Thirty-Three

Elena's POV

"Make sure you stay low," I whisper.

Rachel nods and ducks further down. Since I stitched her up she seems a little more fired up.

She's still extremely feeble and I know there's no way she'll be able to shift into her wolf if need be. Especially since that powder could still very well be in her body and making its way through her system at a rapid rate.

Let's just hope we both can get out of here unscathed before the effects get any stronger.

I move along the length of the wall listening to any movements or voices near by. So far, we have moved down from the third floor and now are trying to find the way out of the second floor.

Wherever we are, is massive. Doors upon doors line the hallway and every time we turn a corner a new hallway appears. Considering the fact, that we have no idea where we are or how to get out of here, I think were doing pretty well. We've managed to avoid running into anybody, so that's a win in our books.

"They'll be here soon, so be ready," someone bellows from around the corner.

I stop my movements suddenly and hold up my hand to Rachel. She stops in her tracks. I put my finger up to my lips signalling her not to make any sounds. She nods once at me in understanding.

"Don't worry we are ready," comes an answer.

I peek around the corner and see a few men in front of my father receiving his orders.

Once he's done talking they disperse, but one man stays behind. He looks in my direction and I move quickly hoping I wasn't just caught.

I try to calm my racing heart by taking deep breaths in before peeking around the corner again. He's gone. I let out a breath of relief.

The feeling only lasts a second before we hear a large number or footsteps descending the stairs from the floor above us.

Rachel and I look at each other wide eyed. I look around us before finding an empty closet and pull her in with me. I close it softly and place my ear against the door listening for the sound to cease.

After no sound is heard for a minute I open it back up. We both move towards the spot my father had just occupied. In the distance we can see the men and women walking away in a large group.

"Where are they going and what do they have up their sleeves?" Rachel voices apprehensevely.

"I don't know, but we need to figure it out before somebody gets hurt," I say.

Pierson's coming and I need to get to him before they do something that may take the love of my life away. The thought feels like a dagger right through the center of my chest.

"Let's follow them," I say to Rachel and head in their direction before giving her the chance to answer.

Pierson's POV

I check the screen and estimate that we're about ten minutes away from the site.

The adrenaline starts to kick in. I hope Elena is okay. A surge of guilt shoots through my chest at the though of her not being.

I should've took more precautiouns. I should've been by her side constantly. I shouldn't have let her father inside of the house. I should've done more.

Victoria places a hand on my shoulder and I turn to look at her. "She's going to be okay. From what you told me about her she's a fighter," she expresses.

"She is. She can handle herself Pierson," Noah says from right beside her.

I look at the both of them. They decided to come along after hearing what happened. They wanted to help and I took them up on their offer. The more people the better.

I nod my head at them. My girl is a fighter. She has proven time after time again that she can get through anything and come out a stronger person in the end.

Satisfied with my response, Victoria leans back and into Noah's side. His eyes widen in surprise and as he glances down at her they soften. I smirk. I don't know what happened with these two, but I'm just satisfied that he seems to be over my mate.

We turn a corner a few miles down and the screen tells us we have arrived. I look through the window and see nothing but tall trees. The rest of my pack pulls up in their cars.

I exit the passenger side and look around me. I focus on the space between the trees for movement or sounds, but nothing can be seen or heard. I look back at my screen. The small triangle icon beeps over and over. "This doesn't make any sense," I say into the still air. "It says she's right here."

Everybody has stepped out of their cars now and are looking around for any sign of the girls.

My eyes move downward toward the ground, where the screen is incorrectly telling me the location of Rachel. As I'm about to look away a small gleam catches my eye. I squat and push the dirt away with the tips of my fingers and grab the object.

As it rests in the palm of my hand the hairs stand at the back of my neck as a cold wash goes down my back. My heart begins thumping painfully. In my hand lies Rachel's chip. "It's a set up," my mind screams inside my head.

Everything slows down and when I move to tell the pack to get back inside their cars the startling sound of gunshots echo throughout the forest.

Dirt flies in the air as the bullets land in the ground with an unforgiving force. One pounds into the windshield of my car shattering the glass. The loud sound vibrates painfully through my ears and produces a ringing sound.

"Take cover," I shout. I can barely hear my own voice over the sounds of gunshots, objects breaking, and voices calling through the cool air. I move and dive towards the car taking cover and look around frantically, trying to find where they are coming from.

I can see men and woman surrounding us in every direction. Two pop out in the east, five more in the west. More and more appear as I turn in every direction. There's so many of them. My pack is looking to me for orders. Just as I am about to command them to shift the gunshots come to a sudden halt.

I look around cautiously. In the distance I can see Joe sauntering towards our direction. He's in the middle of his pack, and my eyes scan them looking for Elena. When I come up empty I don't know whether to be relieved or concerned.
