《Last Chance✔ (Completed)》Chapter Nineteen

Pierson's POV

I take my dad's advice and head down to Elena's office with twelve long stemmed roses and a box of chocolates.

When I arrive outside the door I start to over think my plan. I look at the contents in my hands. Isn't this to Valentinsey?

Before I can turn around and back out I hear a small voice behind me, "Pierson?"

I turn around and am met with those gorgeous blue eyes.

"Hey Elena. I was just looking for you."

She looks to my hands. "I got these for you," I tell her while handing each item to her.

I scratch the back of my neck nervously. She looks a little confused, but I can see her small smile. "Thank you. That was very sweet of you."

"You're welcome." She sniffs the roses.

"So I was wondering if you wanted to go get something to eat with me?" I ask her.

She stops her action and freezes. Now she looks nervous. Her mouth opens once and closes.

"We can just go as friends if you want. Just a quick bite, that's it. It doesn't have to be a date," I add.

She looks at me, contemplating whether she should take my offer or not.

"Please," I say hopefully. I give her my best puppy dog eyes. She laughs at my attempt to get her to agree.

"Ok just as friends," she gives in.

Yes! Inside I'm smiling like a lunatic and celebrating, but on the outside I try to play it as cool as I can.

"Ok that's great. Do you want to go now?"

I can see she wasn't expecting it to be at this very moment, but to my relief she nods her head anyway.

"Sure, I'm about done here anyway."

She removes her white lab coat and stethoscope and places it on a chair in her office along with the things I got her.

We then walk quietly out the house. It's a little cool outside today. The sky is covered in gray clouds and the scent in the air hints at the chance of rain. It's a wonderful smell. I quickly open her door to my black sports car and then step into the driver's seat.

I turn my head towards her. "Where to?"

She keeps her head looking forward not even glancing my way.

"I could go for some pizza," she suggests.

"Perfect. I know just the place." I face forward and take off.

Elena's POV

I don't know why I agreed, but I did. Those green orbs of his make me say yes. Why am I such a sucker for beautiful eyes?

I wring my hands together nervously. Calm down Elena. We're just eating something together. Nothing more.

Before I know it we arrive at a small place called Luca's Pizzeria.

We exit the car and walk in. We look around and find a booth in the back to sit at.

"Would you like some wine?" Pierson asks me.

"No, water is fine," I answer remembering my blabber mouth the night of Noah's party. I definitely don't want a repeat of that.

The waiter writes it down and Pierson goes ahead and orders us a large pepperoni pizza.

"This place is amazing. The best pizza in town," he says excitedly.

"I'll take your word for it."

His eyes roam my face taking in every detail. I shift in my seat nervously.

"Sometimes I still can't believe your here. Back in Seattle after all these years," he finely says.

"I can't believe it myself sometimes. I always told myself that I would never step back here. That I would be happy anywhere else," I say truthfully.

Noah tried really hard to get me here. He told me that he was in desperate need of doctors, but that wasn't what convinced me. It was the fact that Pierson's father, Kris, was dying.

That was what made me come back. He didn't even mean to bring it up. We were having dinner one evening and he started mentioning all the patients he had to check up on. When I heard his name I felt sick. I had no idea. How was it even possible for him not to heal?

My mind starting racing and then I thought about his wife. How she must be dealing with this hard situation. And then I thought about Pierson. How broken he must've been. I hadn't even thought about him in months till that point. I tried to push the feelings down about the family in command, but my heart wouldn't allow it.

I cared deeply for them. No matter how much I hated Pierson I didn't want them to be going through this. I wanted to be there and help find the solution. I did well in school and I knew I had a chance to find out why this was happening to him.

Noah was elated when I told him I was coming back with him. Upon arrival I went to see Kris. He looked nothing like the man I remembered.

We talked and I told him I would do my best to help him, but he said whatever happens he's ok with it and that he's lived a good life. He said his son was a fool for not coming after me, but he had good intentions. I never knew what he meant until now.

"I'm glad you did though. You have no idea how happy I am that you're here."

It's still hard to believe his words. Even though he explained what he did I still feel skeptical about the words he says.

I don't reply to his statement.

At the perfect time the waiter sets down our pizza preventing any awkwardness from my silence to settle in.

I grab a slice and take a bite.

"Mmmmm," I moan as the pizza settles on my taste buds. This is so good. He was right this pizza is amazing.

Pierson let's out a small chuckle.

"What'd I tell you."

I gobble the slice quickly and grab for another. In no time, the pizza is demolished. I'm stuffed and I let out a full, satisfied sigh.

"So, I'm guessing you don't want dessert," he teases.

I laugh lightly at his comment,"you would guess right."

He chuckles.

"Ok then let's get out of here. I want to show you something," Pierson says as he throws money on the table. He grabs my hand and leads us out the door.

We get in the car and in no time were heading down a narrow dirt road. Huge trees run along each side of the straight path. With their shadows they cast and the cloudy sky, our surroundings are even more darkened.

Soon enough Pierson brings us to the middle of nowhere and gets out of the car. There is literally nothing but trees and dirt paths that surround us. Pierson hops out, but I stay put.

Is he trying to kill me? There is literally nothing around us but nature. A loud knock sounds from the car window beside me startling me.

"Are you coming?" He asks looking at me strangely.

This is your mate Elena, he wouldn't kill you. Stop being stupid. Besides you learned a little taekwando while in college if that does happen to be the case.

I open the door and stand in front of Pierson. I look around again totally puzzled.

He gives me a cheeky grin. "Come on it's this way." He grabs my hand and pulls me towards one of the dirt paths.

During the walk Pierson's eyes glance to me repeatedly. His hand is still holding mine and I'm trying to ignore how the simple touch sends a fire throughout my body.

"Here we are," he announces after a few minutes.

I look forward to see what he's addressing and come to see a beautiful log cabin. It's small structure is tucked away and hidden between the trees. Two large windows above the door overlook the trees and paths. Wood is piled outside the door, hinting at a fireplace inside. The house looks breathtaking.

"This is my little secret place. I go here when I need to think or just want to be away from everything. I built it myself," Pierson explains.

"It's amazing," I say. He smiles at my statement.

"Come on let me show you inside."

We enter through the wooden door. I look around. A red couch and recliner is set in the center of the open room with a flat screen tv hanging in front of it above the fireplace. In the back a small kitchen is placed with the essentials. I look up to see a large chandelier set on top of the ceiling. My eyes then wander to a small door placed on the west wall, probably leading to his room, and a glass door on the north wall that leads to the back of the cabin.

The place is simple and cozy.

"Wow," I whisper. I can see why he comes out here.

"Yeah. This is not even the best part. Follow me." He walks towards the outside door and holds it open for me to exit.

We walk out and he covers my eyes. I tense immediately. Oh my god he is going to kill me!

"Relax, I want it to be a surprise," he says into my ear. Chills run down my spine and instantly my nerves vanish.

We walk a little ways before he stops.

He uncovers my eyes and my eyes open and try to adjust to the light.

I cover my mouth and gasp. We are near the edge of the cliff and before us lies a view of the Emerald city. You can see everything from here. Below I can see the twinkling of the city lights and the hustle and bustle of the people. It seems everybody is in a rush to get somewhere, but I'm frozen in time watching as the world goes by. The view of the skyline can also be seen in the distance. The gray clouds cover the night sky as the moon tries to peek through. It's a relaxing and comforting feeling being up here.

"It's something huh? It's one of the reasons why I chose to build the cabin here. I can't get enough of this sight," he says.

"I found this place on accident after the last time we talked in high school. I couldn't handle the pain I saw on your face so I ran. I kept running till I got to this cliff. I sat here for hours clearing my head and just thinking. I started to come here so often that I decided to build the cabin. It's become my favorite place."

I look at his profile as he talks. His eyes are fixed on the sight and his eyes have a twinkle in them. He looks relaxed and at ease.

"It really is stunning," I express.

His eyes land back on mine. "Yes it is," he says huskly.

His voice sends shivers down my spine in a delicious way. I don't know if it's just me, but the way he said that, it's like he wasn't talking about the place.

I start to notice our close proximity. We're only a foot away. My eyes wander across his face and land on his inviting pink lips before looking back to his darkened eyes. Pierson notices my eye movement and takes it as a sign to step closer to me. After another beat he places a hand on my waist. The heat seeps through my now trembling body.

My heart begins to beat erratically. I know what he wants. Do I want it too? When he starts to lean in I know the answer. My eyes flutter close and I lean up on my toes.

In an instant his lips meet mine and the fire erupts between us. Shots of electricity run down every vein in my body making it feel like it's going to explode. His lips are warm and firm as they move along mine. It starts off slow and tender before his hands move to tangle in my hair as he deepens the kiss.

I grab the hair at the nape of his neck and pull him forward closing all the space between us. Our lips move in a perfect rhythm. My wolf is howling from within with joy. Our hands move everywhere not knowing where to settle. It's like we can't get enough. When we finally break apart we both gasp for air. Pierson leans his forhead on mine and his hands that made their way to my face stay their holding me in place.

His lips are red and swollen. He looks gorgeous. He looks into my eyes once again before leaning in again, but before our lips meet again the rain that's been stored in the clouds all day falls. The small droplets that hit our face turn into big ones and soon it's pouring. Pierson grabs me and we both run towards the house before either of us can get soaked.

We run in and Pierson shuts the door closed.

He stands at the door as I stand near the kitchen island.

We stare at each other not saying a word as the air around us continues to buzz. Pierson makes his way towards me, but before he can get any closer I take a step back and look to the ground.

"I really need to get home. I have work tomorrow and it's already late," I tell him as his face falls.

I really just need to process everything that just happened. That kiss was amazing. It was better than amazing it was mind-blowing. My emotions and thoughts are going crazy right now and I can't think my feelings through when he's this close to me. Especially after what just happened.

"I understand. We'll head home as soon as the rain let's up," he says his voice now void of any emotion.

The mood does a one eighty and I know I'm the one that caused it by choosing to leave.

As the rain goes through its process, Pierson lights a fire and turns on the tv. He goes and grabs us a few towels to dry off.

Before I know it the rain has cleared up and we head home in silence both trapped in our own thoughts.
