《The shy boy from math class》Epilouge

"Five minutes!" Genevieve rushes into the room. She closes the door behind her, rushing over to me. My heart is beating out of my chest right now. I take a deep breath as my mother fixes my hair behind me.
Genevieve stands next to me with a bright smile on her face. Her eyes trail down my dress. She quickly fixes something behind me the steps aside. "And here's your lovely bouquet."
She places the bouquet in my hands. My palms are too sweaty. I feel like the bouquet will slip out any minute.
Cora walks in, closing the door behind her with a grin on her face. "Grayson looks like he's going to puke any minute!"
"Him and I both." I breathe out slowly.
Genevieve pulls out two strands of hair on the sides of my hair. "So he can do that hair thing."
She moves aside to let me look at myself in the mirror. My mom comes by me, kissing my cheek. "You look so beautiful, Selena."
The wedding music suddenly starts playing and everyone in the rooms slightly gasps.
"We'll see you out here." Genevieve waves as she takes Cora outside with her. I breathe in and out slowly each second. I've been with Grayson for years yet my heart is still beating out of my chest when I think about seeing him for the first time as a groom.
My mother links her arms to mine, leading me to the door. "Ready to see your groom?"
I breathe out again, feeling my legs start to tremble. "Yes."
She opens the door to reveal my dad waiting outside. He smiles at me, linking my other arm with his. Then the big doors to the church open slowly. I nearly gasp out loud when I see all the people looking back at me. My parents walk me down the aisle that seems to have gotten longer than the last time I saw it. I haven't looked at Grayson yet. I'm scared if I'm being honest. If I stare at him I just know my knees will feel weak.
We're halfway down the aisle when I decide to bust. I look up to lock eyes with Grayson. When our eyes meet everything seems to calm down. Everything's perfect. His eyes are shiny with a few tears streaming down his face. He quickly pulls out his tissue and wipes away the tears. I always imagined our wedding but this moment doesn't compare to all the fantasies I created in my head. This moment's better.

My parents stop at the end of the aisle, handing me off to Grayson. "She's all yours."
We stand in front of each other as everyone sits down again. He mouths a 'you look beautiful' that makes me blush. He still makes me blush after five years together. The officiant starts doing the introduction to the ceremony and I get lost in Grayson's eyes.
I never imagined that the teenage girl crying because her boyfriend cheated on her would be marrying the guy that was just teaching her how to do math better. Her soulmate was right next to her without even realizing it. He was in the same classroom as her when she thought her soulmate was someone else.
Grayson and I got engaged right before graduation. We moved back to California and got an apartment in Santa Monica. We don't know where the hell we're moving to next. But we know we aren't staying in California forever. We want our kids to grow up in a state that gets all 4 seasons and in the suburbs.
"We now ask to share your vows." The officiant smiles at us.
"You can go first." I smile at Grayson. He digs his hand into his front pocket, pulling out a folded piece of paper. His hands slightly tremble as he unfolds the paper.
He licks his lip then sucks in a deep breath. "Selena Rojas, the girl I was just supposed to tutor for a short period of time during our senior year of high school. I didn't think I'd find my soulmate in high school, I always thought it was an unrealistic thing to happen. I didn't expect myself to fall in love that quickly until I met a girl who had a different side to her when you got to know her. She brought out something I didn't even know existed in me. You've been by my side for five years and every year I feel more closer to you. Our relationship was far from perfect on some days but we always found our way back to each other. I still remember the first day I realized I loved you. We were slow dancing at an anniversary party, and you snuggled close to me while we were dancing. At that moment I knew I never wanted to let you go. I wanted you to be in my arms forever. From this day forward I promise to be the best husband I can be. I promise to be your shoulder to cry to and the person to tell all the gossip to when your best friend isn't available. Like I always tell you, it's you and I against the world. After today it'll be Selena and Grayson against the world."

When he finishes his vows he wipes away a few tears from his face. I warmly smile at him, already feeling my eyes getting watery. I look back at Genevieve who holds out a folded slip of paper. I take the paper from her hands then unfold it. I clear my throat, glancing up at Grayson.
"That day I walked into my third-period math class, I didn't think that guy with the big square glasses that my teacher introduced me to would be my future husband. You looked out for me before we were even dating, always making sure I was home safe and welcomed me with open arms every time I showed up to your house in tears. I didn't want to admit to myself that I was falling in love. Yet every time we had a tutoring session I always noticed everything about you. Your eye color, which way your hair was flipped to that day, the way you held your pencil, everything. I knew I was in love with you during your coma. Not speaking to you for a month straight was the hardest thing ever. I couldn't imagine never hearing your voice again or never seeing that smile of yours. Every day I saw you I'd wonder what color your eyes would be. Would they be more green or more brown? Today they're more green. I can't wait to wait up next to you every day, seeing what color your eyes will be every day. I've loved you for five years and plan to love you for as long as I live. It's you and I against the world, Grayson Taylor."
I fold the paper back up and hand it to Genevieve. My eyes have definitely let out a few tears but I don't both wiping them.
"It's now time for the ring exchange." The officiant announces.
I turn to Genevieve who passes me the wedding band while Grayson turns to his college best friend and also his best man, Carson.
"Grayson, you make now place the ring on Selena's finger." Grayson takes the wedding band in between his fingers and slides it down my finger. It fits snug and looks so beautiful yet simple next to my engagement ring.
"Now Selena you may place the ring on Grayson's finger." I do the same thing as Grayson, trying my best not to let the ring slip out of my hand.
"Do you Selena Rojas take Grayson Taylor to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for better and for worse, through sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live?"
I smile widely, "I do."
"Do you Grayson Taylor take Selena Rojas to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better and for worse, through sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
He claps his hand together with a proud smile. "By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife! Grayson, you may kiss your bride."
Grayson pulls me closer to him, cupping my face with his hand. Our lips collide, sending shocks through my body. I smile into the kiss as everyone around us starts cheering. We pull apart, looking into each other's eyes with bright smiles.
"I now present Mr and Mrs Taylor!"
I didn't think those words would make me so happy. My cheeks almost hurt from all the smiling.
I'm married.
Married to my high school sweetheart. My shy boy from my math class.
A year later Grayson and I welcomed our son, Sage. We moved to Maine where we welcomed our daughter, Gianna, a few years later. Genevieve moved with us to Maine with her husband and kids.
I became a veterinarian and Grayson became a math teacher at the local high school.
Looks like our story got a happy in the end after all.
After everything we've been through, it's still him and I against the world.
