《The shy boy from math class》Chapter 44| Best night of our lives

I lightly spray setting spray over my face and letting it set in for a second. I fix up my hair then spray a light mist of perfume over me. I tried my best to do a full glam look without looking like a different person. Jimmy put my hair in an updo with two front strands of hair falling near my face. I put on a gold necklace with pearl earrings that belong to my mom.
"Selena! Hurry up I think Grayson's here!" My mom shouts up the stairs. I quickly grab my mini backpack, gently placing my bra and underwear in there with a couple few things.
I haven't talked about getting a room with Grayson but if we don't get one we'll probably go back to his house.
"Coming!" I yell back. I apply one more coat of lipgloss then slowly make my way down the stairs. My mother gasps once she sees me. She fans her face with her hand and chokes out, "You look so beautiful!"
"Don't cry, Ma." I giggle.
The doorbell goes off and we both shoot our heads towards it. "And I think that's your date!"
My dad goes over to open the door as my mom brings out the camera.
I finally see Grayson walk in and his eyes speak for himself. He quickly looks me up and down with a big grin on his face. "You look gorgeous!"
We decide not to kiss with my whole family watching so we go outside where my mom starts to take our pictures.
A few minutes later I hear Genevieve cheering from afar. Grayson and I look over to see her sticking out of the limos rooftop. She hollers as the limo gets closer and we cheer back.
"Get in bitches, we're going to prom!" She cheers. "Oh hey, Mr. and Mrs. Rojas! Hey Cora!"
Grayson helps me get into the limo which is lit up with colorful lights with a side table that has plastic champagne glasses and a few drinks.
We greet Everett and Genevieve turns up the music.
We sing along to the songs that blast through the speakers and drink who knows out of the plastic cups. I'm pretty sure it was just sparkling water.

After half an hour the limo comes to a stop.
"We're here!" Genevieve squeals, looking out the window. The limo parks right in front of the entrance which is surrounded by balloons.
Genevieve's makeup is full glam and her hair is just like it was at her parent's anniversary party. Big curls that compliment her face.
The driver opens up the door, immediately letting the cool air stream in. Genevieve and Everett go first then Grayson and I. Genevieve thanks the driver and we walk inside. Grayson wraps his arm around my torso, "You look so beautiful, Sel."
I blush, whispering back, "You look so handsome, Grayson."
We finally get inside the banquet hall theater filled with many people on the dance floor. We dance to a few songs before sitting down to eat dinner.
"For our school's budget, this food is amazing!" Genevieve moans as she shoved another spoonful of food into her mouth.
I laugh at her as she keeps stuffing more food in her mouth.
I lean back on my chair once I finish my food, immediately feeling bloated.
I grab Grayson's hand and drag him to the photo booth to get a picture before my makeup gets ruined. We take photos in the traditional prom pose with bright smiles on our faces.
☆
"A slow song!" I grab Grayson's hand making him stand up, "Let's go dance."
We make our way to the dance floor with Genevieve and Everett behind us. He rests his hands on my waist and I wrap my hands around his neck. We sway along to the slow song, savoring the moment.
I rest my head against his chest, feeling this instant warmth.
"I hope you don't mind but I got us a room, and before you freak out, we don't have to do anything. I know you'll be tired and I know how much you treasure your sleep." He says low enough for me to hear.
Thank god he can't see my eyes widen. My heart starts to beat faster. I know I bought all that stuff last night but part of me didn't actually expect it to happen.

"No, I um," I fumble around with my words. "I think I want to."
He gently pushes me away, grabbing my hands in his. He looks me in my eyes almost as if he can't believe it. "Are you serious? You know I would never pressure you into anything you don't want to do. Seriously we can just go and knock out."
I kiss his lips, catching him off guard. "I'm sure."
He tries his best to hide his instant excitement yet I can see it.
"Genevieve's throwing a goodbye party the day after graduation and we're going."
He nods, "How do her parents not care?"
I shrug, "Her parents are rarely ever home. They have all the money they want and go on vacations by themselves."
"Alright, everyone! I hate to interrupt but we have a few announcements." One of the head presidents of the student council speaks into the mic.
We walk back to our table as a teacher hands her a few envelopes.
"Welcome graduating class of Greenview High!" She cheered and the room erupted into claps and whistles.
"This is one of our last celebrations as seniors before we head off and start the careers we've been dreaming of!" She grinned.
"Now, let's announce our prom king and queen!!" Everyone starts clapping as she fumbles with the envelopes.
"And your prom queen is," she holds out the slip and says, "Genevieve Cordova!"
The light shines on her while everyone cheers. I give her a nudge as she gets up and starts going up to the stage.
One of the students on the stage places a crown on her, handing her a bouquet.
"And your prom king is," She opens up the second envelope. "Cameron Hudson!"
My eyes widen, immediately darting to Genevieve. She looks like a deer caught in the headlights.
"Oh no." I gulp.
Cameron smirks as he makes his way up the stage with his friends cheering behind him.
Genevieve and Cameron were on and off during junior year. It ended with Cameron cheating on her with a senior at the time named Tiffany. God, I can still remember her platinum blonde hair and the thick coats of lipgloss on her lips.
"Whats oh no? What do you mean by oh no?" Grayson leans in and looks at me with concern.
Once they have their crowns on they wave to the crowd. "And now for their first dance!"
"That's not necessary-" I overhear Genevieve tell her.
Another song starts and Cameron leads Genevieve to the dance floor. He says something to her which results in her storming out of the room. Grayson nods at me to go after her which makes me immediately stand up and rush over to her.
She disappears into the bathroom so I follow behind her.
"Gen!" I sigh in relief once I see her leaning against the sink. She looks down but I can hear her small sniffles.
"Genevieve," I softly say, "I know that was hard out-"
She looks up at me with her mascara running down her cheeks.
"Hey, don't cry!" I quickly grab a paper towel then start dabbing off the mascara before she ruins her makeup.
"He dumps me for a stupid blonde bitch, and when I'm in a happy relationship he tries to hit on me?!" She sniffles, "What a fucking asshole!"
"He is not worth your tears, Gen. I know you loved your makeup today, and your one more tear away from ruining it."
I manage to fix her makeup without ruining anything.
"Now let's go back out there and enjoy the last hour we have left," I tell her.
We wrap our arms around each other as we make our way back to the banquet hall.
"So...you and Gray-"
"He got us a room." I cut her off. "I'll tell you everything tomorrow."
She tries not to react as we finally get back to our table.
"Let's go dance a few more songs then we can go upstairs," I say in his ear.
He takes my hand as we make our way to the dance floor.

Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
