《The shy boy from math class》Chapter 38| Acceptance

"Ready when you are." I slowly breathe out, watching Grayson scroll through all of his emails.

"I have five to open, and hopefully at least one school accepted me." His voice comes out shaky as he clicks on one of the letters.

"I'll save my reactions for the end." I stand behind him, looking over his shoulder at the screen.

Two in-state schools

Two out of state schools

And an ivy league

I opened my letters last night and have already made my decision. I chose Colorado state. Grayson spoiled there too and I haven't told him my decision yet. I want him to pick his own school and not the school we could possibly be going to together.

"The first one is UCLA." He nervously double taps the mouse pad and waits for the results. "Everyone gets accepted into there, right?"

I bite down on my lip as the answer pops up.

Accepted.

He doesn't give himself a second to even process it. He moves on to the next email as I stand there in slight shock. Even if it's the most popular school in California I'm still so proud of him. I know I said I'd save my reactions but I just want to jump up and congratulate him so bad.

He moves on to the next email which is from Berkeley. He doesn't hesitate to open the email and clicks again.

Rejected.

He slightly sighs and I furrow my eyebrows. "That's bullshit! How did you not get-"

"It's okay," he cuts me off, "I didn't even want to go there that bad."

He scrolls to the next email which is the school I chose.

Colorado state.

Half of me wants him to get accepted so we can go there together but the other half of me doesn't. I want him to do his own thing after high school and not following me to the same university to be together.

He clicks the email and I quickly read the email.

Accepted.

He got accepted to Colorado State. The school I'll go to. He quickly moves onto the next school as I still stay in my moment of bliss. The slight chance of us going to the same school is small but still possible. But I need to think about him and his future and not just me.

He gets accepted into the University of Illinois and then he takes a deep breath.

The last letter.

Yale.

"Do you need a moment?" I sit down next to him, reaching for his hand.

He bites the inside of his cheek as he stares at the screen.

"I have to rip the band-aid off one day. I just know it's rejection but there's still an urge in me to open it." He mumbles.

"Open it," I say. "Who cares if you get rejected? You have three other schools to choose from. Yale is a good school but so are the other three. We're here for you no matter what."

We exchange a quick kiss and he looks back to his screen. He anxiously clicks on the email and reads the letter.

"Waitlist." He whispers.

"Holy shit," I mumble. The realization hits me and I start jumping up and down, "holy shit! Grayson, you're basically accepted!"

He doesn't react at all. I stop jumping and sit beside him again. "What's wrong? You should be jumping up and down. You have a chance to get into Yale!"

He gulps, "I guess I'm just in shock."

I nod as I sit back down. He stares at the screen with no emotion. I wonder what's going through his head right now? It basically feels like I got accepted myself! If he gets into Yale we'd be almost across the country from each other.

I can barely wrap all of this around my head. I notice his left leg bouncing up and down which means that he's nervous. I've learned it over the months.

I place my hand on top of his which breaks his gaze from the screen. He looks at me and I smile at him. I try my best to put all of my words into my eyes and smile and he seems to understand it. He smiles back then takes a deep breath.

I gently close his laptop and say, "How about we take a break from all of this college stuff."

I slowly make myself onto his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck. He looks up at me, running his fingers through my hair.

"I love you, you know that right?" He says lowly.

We've probably said 'I love you' a hundred of times but I still feel the butterflies in my stomach every time he tells me. I feel my face heat up, my heart starts to beat like crazy, and chills run through my body every single time.

"And I love you." I blush.

Our lips collide as the waves of heat fill our bodies. Every time we kiss I still feel the electricity run through my body. As he starts kissing down my neck I feel the pit in my stomach tighten.

He roams his hands through my body which sends chills down my back. His fingers trail down my chest and landing on my breasts. My breathing starts to get heavier as he trails them down even farther.

I pull away, nearly panting for air. Our foreheads touch as we both look down. Our heavy breathing is nearly in sync and I'm sure I can hear his heart beating.

The silence between us speaks a thousand words.

We start to catch our breath when the front door bursts open. I gasp as I quickly get off of him.

"Mom? I thought you were working all night?!" He tries his best to make his voice seem normal.

His mom drags two paper bags filled with food into the kitchen. Her eyes light up once she sees me and I smile at her.

"Selena! I haven't seen you in ages!" She walks over to me, wrapping me in her arms. I hug her back and she hums a little.

We pull away and her eyes are shining like diamonds.

"My shift ended earlier than expected," she breathes out. "So I bought stuff to make us dinner! Selena, are you staying? Because I can definitely make a third plate."

I glance at Grayson then back to his mom who's eyes gleam with hope. "You know what? How about you and Grayson have a mom and son dinner night? I'll join next time."

She hugs me again, catching me by surprise. "Grayson picked a good one." She says lowly enough for me to hear.

My heart melts at her kind words as we pull away.

"I'll walk her out." Grayson smiles at his mom. I wave at his mom and she waved back. I slowly start walking to the front door and feel Grayson press his hand against my back.

He opens the front door and steps outside. He closes the door behind him and I immediately feel the cool breeze hit me.

"Are you going to tell her about the schools?" I ask.

He shrugs, "I don't want our dinner to revolve around my acceptance letters. I know my mom, she'll go on for hours."

I chuckle, getting on my tippy toes to kiss his cheek. "Call me later."

We exchange a quick kiss and feel the same electricity when our lips touch.

"I love you," I murmur.

"I love you more." He hums.
