《The shy boy from math class》Chapter 33| I don't

"Wow." I gulp as I stare at myself in the mirror. "I look hot."
"It's a gift I was born with." Genevieve dramatically flips her hair over her shoulder.
I run my hands through my hair that almost seems fluffy to me.
Genevieve chose a black dress that stops mid-thigh. It's skin-tight but still comfortable for me to move around in. She chose some tan sandals with gems on the many straps. She gave me a black string necklace with a single pearl in the center.
She tosses me a lipstick tube and I catch it at the last second. I pull off the lid and roll it up. My eyes widen once I see the color, looking at Genevieve in confusion.
"Red? Are you kidding? I can't wear this."
"Relax! It's lipstick! It's not poison." She takes the lipstick from my hand and starts moving it towards me. She puts her free hand on my head and puckers her lips for me to mimic.
I feel the creamy lipstick spread around my lips. She looks concentrated on applying the lipstick on me, being careful when she goes around the edges of my lips.
"Now do this," she rubs her lips against each other and I copy it.
She takes a step back looking at my face. She claps her hands together, letting out a small squeal.
I walk over to my mirror being hesitant to look at myself. I finally look in the mirror and lightly gasp at my makeup.
I didn't expect the red lipstick to suit me so well. Genevieve grins proudly as she grabs the clutch from my bed. She holds it out and says, "Have fun tonight."

"She did all of this?" Grayson's mouth drops as he looks me up and down. I twirl and burst into light laughter.

"You like it?" I ask, kissing his cheek.
He nods and I run off the lip print on his cheek.
He wraps his arm around my waist and we start waking down the sidewalks of the busy streets. The sun is starting to set leaving the sky almost a cotton candy color.
We walk into one of the ice cream shops in the strip malls and each get a cone. I got cookies and creme and Grayson got cookie dough.
We sit on the tables set up outside, admiring the beautiful sky.
"You ever wonder how many beautiful skies we miss?" I ask, my eyes never leaving the sky's view. "We're always looking down and focus on stuff inside, what if we've missed the prettiest sky because we were distracted."
I feel Grayson's gaze on me and he replies, "I always wonder what goes on in that brain of yours."
I smile, licking my ice cream.
"You know the sky is almost as beautiful as you," he leans in and whispers, "but you beat it by a thousand."
I look over at him, kissing his cheek. "I didn't know you were the cheesy type."
I lean my head against his shoulder and he leans his head on top of mine. "I didn't either, I guess you just bring out the best of me."
After we finish our ice cream we start walking along the boardwalk, letting our feet drag across the cool sand. We link our hands together and sway our hands back and forth.
"We should skinny dip one day," I say low enough for him to hear.
"I'll make sure to add it to my calendar." He hums.
We go to one of the local diners around and order burgers with fries and milkshakes. During the few times we've eaten together, Grayson and I rarely talk. We're too in the moment of eating our food to have a full conversation.

After we finish our food we start walking under the bright street lights. We walk over to the rides near the pier. We eagerly get on the Ferris wheel, feeling my stomach drop as we start getting closer to the top. Once we get to the top it stops as more people get on.
My heart is beating out of my chest and I tighten my grip on Grayson's hand. He chuckles, kissing my temple.
"This day couldn't have gone any more perfect," Grayson exclaims, his eyes shining brightly.
"Best Valentine's Day ever." I kiss his cheek.
I peek my head down seeing the big height difference between the ground and us. I tightly wrap my hands around the handlebar as the ride starts to move again.
As the ride starts going down I begin to squeal when I feel my stomach drop. Grayson laughs and I try my best to laugh along.
"I think I'm falling in love with you, Selena." Grayson says in between laughter.
My heart stops and I feel my eyes almost pop out of their sockets. I tighten my hands as much as I can on the bar. I don't think my stomach is even there anymore. I can't feel it dropping.
"Selena? You okay?" Grayson puts his hand on my back, snapping me into reality.
The ride stops and we finally get off. I immediately rush out of the ride, the sounds around me suddenly stop. I make my way through the crowd, taking out my phone and immediately calling Genevieve.
"Selena!" Grayson grabs my arm, pulling me back. "What's wrong? Are you okay? You look sick."
The big lump in my throat is preventing me from speaking. I take deep breaths as he puts both hands on my shoulders. He tries to look me in the eyes but I can't look at him. I can't see his innocent eyes get crushed.
"I don't love you, Grayson." I squeak.
Just as I imagined, I see his shining eyes lose their shine. His face almost turns. He drops his hands, taking a big breath.
"I'm sorry. I gotta go." I start walking away from him. I disappear into the crowds, catching the local bus just by a second. I sit near an old towards the back of the bus, resting my head against the windows.
The rest of the bus ride home feels faint. I remember tears streaming down my face but that's it. How could I say that to him? He didn't totally confess his love for me.
How could he be falling in love with me? Why?
Is it too quickly for me to fall in love again? My ex is in love with another girl. For fucks sake he's going to be a dad in a few months! Am I ready to fall in love again? Grayson wouldn't hurt me like that, right?
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
I just ruined everything, didn't I? He's going to break up with me. I feel it. What if I do it first? No that's too harsh.
fuck!
