《Wolf》Chapter 17- Wolf

The days slipped into weeks and the empty feeling didnt go away. It's stupid to feel something so strong for someone I'd only really known a few days and yet I did. Uncle ran all his usual tests as predicted I failed them all I had missed two of my yearly shots amongst others he wasn't happy with my conditioning or my vitals as a result I was forced back into intensive training and banned from leaving the compound.
Beast had taken it upon himself to make my life a living hell I'd always hated training with him he's cold calculating and lacking of any form of human emotion. He beat me senseless with zero compassion on his features at least Bear would feel a little guilty not Beast though in his eyes I deserved every punch every kick every slice of the blade every crack of the whip every session with him would finish with me dripping in blood from the multiple wounds he had inflicted upon me that day. I would drag my tired body to my room only to heal and go through the motions again the next day even that pain couldn't take away from the pain I felt of not being close to Reaper.
"You're distracted" he barked as I lay on the floor panting not even caring that I was bleeding pretty badly the physical pain numbed the ache in my heart so I realished it sometimes I would piss Beast off on purpose just to get a swift distraction from it all before it came crashing back again. "No I'm not" I shakily got to my feet hearing the whip whistle through the air I just managed to catch the tip before it cracked down on me pulling him close clipping my elbow into his face crunching his nose.

"Yes you are! You broke the rules Wolf you deserve your punishment. Uncle asked I go easy on you but you've always been his favourite. His precious. I wonder would he feel the same if he knew about your love for the outsider" I froze at his words the outsider if Uncle knew about Reaper he would order Beast to kill him "you dont know what you're talking about" I bluffed at him wiping my face with a towel.
His expression changed into a cold smile "no? I hear you cry at night into that pitiful shirt of yours Bear told me about that outsider you wrapped yourself around. We were created to kill not to love Wolf remember that" I flinched at him "and what about Bear? Uncle wanted us to marry and bare children"
His smile deepened "that was merely for procreation we dont feel love Wolf we feel nothing. Uncle wanted you and Bear to create natural killers not man made ones like us. He wanted our genes to flourish. By choosing this outsider you have now ruined that. You are tainted by him. Not to worry though I will beat it out of you"
"So that's why you're doing this instead of Bear? You think he will go easy on me?" I challenged him he tilted his head slightly his gaze taking me in "do you love him?"
"What?"
"The Outsider do you love him?"
Yes. Yes I do.
"I barely know him" I scoffed swallowing down the lump in my throat I've never felt love before and yet my entire being screamed for a man I'd only spent a few days with.
The door to the training room opened and Bear strolled in his gaze not meeting mine focusing only on Beast "Uncle requests your prescence he has a job for us. Wolf your training is dismissed for the day I suggest you clean up we will have a guest tonight" he turned on his heel exiting sharply Beast smirked at me before following. Although I was happy I wouldn't be getting any more beatings I felt slightly nauseous at the mention of a guest we weren't Uncle's only experiments over the years we were the most successful ones we blended in with the humans but the others. They would make Beast look like a cute puppy.

I had showered and changed opting for a classic white dress. Uncle liked when I wore white sitting on the edge of the bed I waited to be summoned to dinner my stomach twisting into knots.
"Wolf come please"
Gulping down the lump in my throat for the second time today I stood from my bed exiting my room walking down the winding hallway towards the dining room I always hated this damn hallway it was like navigating a maze. I came to a stop outside the dining hall Bear stood beside Beast his eyes on the floor "Wolf I'm so sorry but Uncle he insisted and well it's not like the asshole made things easy for himself. If he'd have just kept his mouth shut things would probably have gone smoother I just hope he backs up his threats for your sake" his voice trailed off.
I looked between him and Beast registering their expressions Bear looked uncharacteristically apologetic while Beast looked like he had just been given the best news of his life "what are you talking about?" My voice came out as a whisper "we had a trespasser on our grounds earlier today that was the job Uncle called us too" Beast was practically singing in delight "I can see now why you were so drawn to the outsider Wolf he looks strong" my stomach dropped I suddenly found it difficult to breathe I looked at Bear with wide eyes.
He stared at the floor intently his expression pulled into a frown while Beast looked dangerously happy "shall we?" He motioned to the doors I gulped and followed them through them. Looking around the table I saw Uncle sitting at the top Thea stood beside him cutlery in her hand ready to carve. Everything is white just like everywhere else in this God forsaken place white always white like a clinic. I closed my eyes not wanting to look at the other figures sitting at the table standing out in their black leather jackets I was trying to control my breathing and not drop of a panic attack when his voice cut through the silence making my whole world crumble.

The most challenging MMO ever created—that’s how they advertised it. Taglines like, “Not your granddaddy’s game,” and, “Only for the hardest of the hardcore,” had gamers going crazy. Set in a gothic, Lovecraftian world, with fully realized A.I. NPCS, gamers were desperate to get their hands on the new game and dive in, and Clay was one of them. It was going to be tough, but he was ready for it. What he wasn’t ready for, was countless players having their minds hijacked and being transformed into mindless, hostile creatures filled with nothing but hate who killed anyone on sight. They called them the Bloodless. Clay’s best and only friend, Rey, moved across the country she was twelve, but they kept in touch online, playing countless games together, and when Blood Seekers was released, they were both ready to step up to the plate and face the new challenge together. But now, Rey has been taken by the plague, her mind held hostage as one of the Bloodless. A mysterious black monolith has appeared at the center of the highest level zone in the game, a place no one has even come close to. Some say it will provide us with answers. Others say it will only lead to more questions. Who’s behind all this? Why are people’s minds being taken? Will we ever get to bring them back? How many more will be lost if we stay logged in? Nothing is certain, but if there’s any chance that reaching the monolith will bring Rey back back, then Clay will do everything he can to reach it. This is Book 1 in a new series from Stephen Roark! I will be posting chapters here until the book is done and published on Amazon!
