Sera's POV

I tried to disappear in my covers as my mom yelled at me to wake up. I knew I had school today, but I did not want to go. I had spent the whole summer holed up in my room, reading romance novels, and I wasn't ready to leave the comfort of my bed. But my mom had other ideas.

"Wake up! Wake up!" my mom pulled the covers off of me and I curled up into a tight ball.

"Go away," I squinted against the sunlight of the window. "My eyes are burning!"

"You're not a vampire," my mom smirked. "You're a werewolf so wake up!"

10 minutes later, I was dressed in a pair of denim shorts and a loose flowered shirt that I had tucked into my pants. At the door I pulled on my favorite brown boots and grabbed a granola bar from my mom. I had no time to actually eat breakfast, so I shoved the bar down my throat and tried to swallow it.

When I arrived at school, I met up with my group of friends and we started discussing the newest book by Cassandra Clare.

"Will and Tessa are better!" I exclaimed to my best friend Bella.

"No I hate Will!" Bella yelled. "He sucks! Jem is way better!"

While we were yelling at each other and probably embarrassing ourselves, my boyfriend Dylan walked toward us and hugged me from the back. He was perfect. I knew he wasn't my mate, and that one day we would meet our mates and separate, but I wanted to enjoy time with him until we met them.

"Are you talking about other men?" Dylan grinned. "I thought I was your only baby." He dramatically clutched his hand on his chest and clutched my waist tighter.

"Shut up dumbie," I giggled. We all started talking about some random stuff until the bell rang. I separated from Dylan and Bella and went to my first class, which was AP English.

The school day dragged on and I got more and more tired as each period passed. Don't get me wrong, I work hard in all my classes, but school was just so boring. As I walked out of the school doors and looked for Bella, a loud alarm sounded throughout the school.

"Leave if you can!" a teacher yelled as he started to get ready to shift. "There is an attack!"

"Oh my god!" I watched as a large group of humongous brown wolves started to surround the field outside of the school. Now, I would like to say that I started moving immediately after I saw the first wolf attack another, but I actually just froze like an idiot.

When I finally came to my wits, I started to look around for anything that I could use to defend myself. I knew that I couldn't shift because I couldn't show everyone that I had a white wolf, so I just tried to fight in my human form.

Suddenly, a loud growl reverberated through the field as a ginormous black wolf entered the field. He was 2 times taller than me, and I could feel that he was an incredibly strong alpha.

I started to smell the best thing I have ever smelled. Imagine your favorite scent, be it cookies, vanilla, coffee, etc, multiplied by 100,000. I started to think back to what I had learned in that one awkward Sex Ed class I had been forced to take when I was a junior, and I realized what the smell meant with a gasp.

The black wolf looked towards me after I gasped and his piercing green eyes stared into my bright blue ones. It felt as if time had stopped, and that the only people in the field were him and me.

After what seemed like an eternity, I saw him shift back and then whisper, "Mine."
