A Year After Getting Engaged

I was sitting on my study desk, signing yet another document.

Yes! Just 150 more to go!

I grimaced at the thought, doing the opposite of cheering me up.

"Your majesty, this report has some minor errors in them, you will have to do it again.", June, my secretary who I had known for a few weeks, said in a monotone.

I sighed.

Honestly, being a (future) Empress is so tedious, it makes me wanna steal some money and go runaway somewhere quite.

But I won't, because of a certain someone.

A small smile threatens to show itself at the reminder of my fiance.

It's been so long since I last saw Raashid. Both of us are stuck in our room all day, doing reports. And if we have some free time where we are not doing paperwork, we have to attend noble parties and meetings.

It's tiresome.

As June left my study to get a cup of tea for herself, I heard a small thud behind me.

I turned around a bit in my chair to see a hooded figure landing itself in my room from the window.

Horror filled my veins at the sight and I opened my mouth to scream when the hooded figure ran towards me and clasped their hand on my mouth.

"Shush, it's me.", the hooded figure whispered, moving his hand away from my mouth.

"Raashid! What the fuck?! Were you trying to give me a damned heart attack?!" I whisper yelled at him.

"Sorry, but we gotta get out of here. And wear this." He started, looking around the room.

I frowned, "Why?" But wore the cloak anyway.

He quickly scooped me up in his arms, carrying me bridal style, making me clutch onto his shoulder as a small squeak left my mouth in surprise.

"We are going on a date." He said firmly as my brain seemed to malfunction for a second and my heart screamed with excitement and happiness.

"Yesss!", I shrieked in happiness, finally delighted to do something interesting or mainly, happy at getting away from all the paperwork.

"So, where are we going?", I asked Raashid as he started moving with me in his arms, "Let's get some food while we are at it- wait...the main door's the other way- Raashid why are we moving towards the window?! This is a second storey-STOP!STOP! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" I screamed, shutting my eyes close and clutching onto Raashid as he jumped from the window, taking me down with him.

He landed gracefully and started running towards God knows where.

"Are you fucking insane?! We could have died!!!!" I cried out, tightening my hold around his shoulders.

"Nah. I'm used to jumping from way more heights than this one. Caiden and I used to make bets as to who would jump down from a higher window when we were kids. And I won all of them." He stated nonchalantly but with a hint of pride.

"STOP! YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME LIKE THAT!!!! WHAT ABOUT ALL THESE MOUNTAINS OF PAPERWORK!!!?" I looked up at the window from where Raashid jumped to get a glimpse of a horrified looking June before a canopy of trees obstructed my vision.

Soon Raashid came to a stop in front of a brown horse and placed me down so I was standing on my feet.

He quickly swung his leg and climbed on the horse before extending his hand to me. I took it and he pulled me up and I wiggled a few times to get comfortable on the horse.

But then the horse started moving.

Oh shit, I'm scared. Hope this one doesn't throw me up in the sky.

Raashid's protective arms were caging me as he pulled on the reins and the horse started moving faster.

Within a few minutes, we were almost at the back gates of the palace when Raashid ordered, "OPEN THE GATES!"

While at the same time someone else screamed, "NO!! DON'T OPEN THE GATES!!!"

I looked over Raashid's shoulder to get a glimpse of June and August (Raashid's secretary) running towards us, though they were very far away.

The guards looked confused but were left with no argument when Raashid roared, "OPEN IT NOW!"

The gates opened and I saw June shove her mug in August's hands (spilling some tea on his coat) and outstretched her palms muttering something under her breath with a stoic expression.

"Shit shit shit! She looks like she's going to bombard us!" I panicked as the horse sped up.

And just when we passed the gates, they shut close with such speed that if we were even a second late, the poor horse would have had his neck broken because of the force.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I heard June scream in agony and I felt pity for her. Poor girl will have to manage today's paperwork without me.

It was sad but I was too happy and excited about my date to care about it.

"Now that I think about it, it is our first date together." I told Raashid, looking at the mud road ahead of us.

"Exactly." He said, "I was going over a report when all of a sudden, this realisation struck me that we didn't go on a date. I know we hung out a lot, but we never went on a real date."

"And that thought made you jump out of a fricking window. Am I right?" I smirked.

"As always, my Queen." Raashid replied and I felt something like a light peck on top of my head for a second.

"It's Empress for you, Peasant, now drive the horse!", I ordered with an evil tone in my voice, making Raashid chuckle before the horse sped up and we were moving farther away from the palace.

"Careful, Choi.", Raashid told me but I still jumped off the horse and stumbled a bit before stretching my back.

"Oww. My back and butt hurts." I grumbled.

After an hour and a half of riding on a horse, we were relatively away from the palace and in a field where Raashid was tying his horse to a nearby tree.

"Want me to carry you?" Raashid asked worriedly.

"Nah, my legs are fine, I can walk.", I told him as my eyes peered at the horse, "You sure we can leave it here? What if someone steals it?"

"It has a royal symbol on its saddle. They wouldn't dare." Raashid said as he rubbed the horse while it gulped down the water Raashid gave him.

I raised my hand to give the horse a rub but it avoided my touch, giving me a stink eye.

Huh?

I tried again but it moved away and grunted at me.

I frowned at it, "I was just doing it out of courtesy. I don't like you either, bitch."

"It's a mare, actually.", Raashid said as he barely contained his laughter.

I scowled at him, "Shut up and lead the way."

He smiled and then motioned me to follow him.

"So where are we going?" I asked.

"There's a small festival in this town today, there would be lots of fun things to do and a variety of different food." He said as we walked towards the nearby town, houses coming closer each step we took.

"What if someone recognises us?" I ask.

"That's why we have this cloak." He said, pulling my hood over my head.

I rolled my eyes, "That looks even more suspicious."

He raised his eyebrows, "Really?"

"Yeah."

"Then what should we do?"

"Let's dress like commoners.......wait you brought money with you, right?" I asked him.

"I did." He confirmed, jiggling the heavy pouch in front of my face before putting it somewhere in his cloak.

"Cool.", I said with a smirk as we approached the slightly crowded roads of the town.

Raashid approached a boutique and I followed him as he entered.

We both quickly picked up the simplest and cheapest clothes there were. Me wearing an off white dress with loose pouffy sleeves and a red and white layered shirt edged with ruffles on top of it.

Raashid wore a white shirt with a navy blue vest on while brown pants hung around his waist.

"You look pretty." He commented as his eyes checked me out.

"Obviously." I smirked, "Now pay for the dress and let's go get something to eat, I'm hungry."

He nodded, handing down a few golds to the shopkeeper before both of us headed outside the store.

The streets were crowded as we moved forward.

As we were walking Raashid suddenly said, "Hold my hand, this way we won't be separated in the future."

I looked at him and noticed a slight pink on his cheek making me chuckle.

I bet he wanted to hold hands from the start. That's why he brought me to this crowded place. What a smart trickster.

"Sure." I mumbled and clasped onto his big hand. He wrapped his fingers around my hand with a small smile on his lips which matched mine.

I'm so looking forward to this.
