《Being a Villainess is No Joke》19. A Little Less Trash Today

"Which part of 'I'll do it' do you not understand?!" I was barely able to keep my voice from rising.
I was currently seated beside Seanna in the Archmage's office, talking to her secretary.
Seanna was called early in the morning to the Archmage's office and I could guess why. Since she broke the rule by using her magic outside the school grounds before graduation, she'll be punished.
I followed her and am currently explaining the Archmage's secretary that I was the one to force her to do it, so it's only fair that I get her punishment.
But she is very reluctant to listen to me and is fixated that Seanna should be punished since she used it. Again I could guess why. Adailia is the daughter of the Archduke. Giving Adailia punishment is like asking for death or maybe worse.
"We can't Lady Adailia, Lady Seanna used the magic. So she must be punished."
Uhh!!! This dumb background character! Just let the female lead live peacefully!
"But I was the one who forced her, so I must take the punishment."
Seanna looked really uncomfortable so she timidly said, "It's okay, lady Adailia I-" "Stop talking." I snapped at her.
She shut up after that.
Here I am, trying to make her life easy but no! She just wants more things to add to her 'my problems' list!
"I'll take the detentions in Mage's building and whatever other punishments there are." I said. Seanna's life is already shit and I don't plan on making it any more shittier.
The lady was ready to argue but I cut her off sternly, "If you go against me now, you'll have to face the consequences of it. I'll take the detentions tomorrow and that's final." I stormed out of the cabin with Seanna strolling behind me.
Stupid lady, I am already ten minutes late for my first class! And guess what, it's Mathematics! That meanie professor will not let it slide.
As I opened the door to exit the cabin, I saw Mari standing next to the door he looked at me with an expressionless face and then said, "That was a nice thing you did just now. Owning up, I mean."
I looked at him, mirroring his expressionless face, "That was not a nice thing you did just now. Eavesdropping, I mean."
He chuckled at that and went inside the cabin and I left for my building only for Seanna to call me, "Lady Adailia!" She paused for a second as I turned to look at her, "Thank you."
I didn't reply cause I didn't know what to reply and quickened my pace to reach the far end of the Knight's building and reach my class.

When I opened the door the Professor was already in the middle of teaching something.
"We are so honoured that Lady Adailia finally decided to bestow us with her presence." He mocked me.
Yeah, you better be honoured.
I thought sarcastically.
I didn't say anything but just made my way towards the very last bench where I was supposed to sit with Traashid.
"Care to explain what made you late, Lady Adailia?" The professor asked sternly.
"I was in the Archmage's office." Was my simple reply.
He raised a brow and asked, "And why did they need you there?"
"Because of a reason which is too long to explain and will probably take up your entire period if I started explaining now." I replied and sat down.
"Solve the entire exercise on page 68 by the end of the period and you shall not leave the class till you show it to me." He said and I nodded before taking out my books and opening the page.
I snorted and then covered my mouth with my hand to stop myself from laughing.
Who in the world would name their children Radish and Carrot? A typical background character name (who aren't even mentioned in the book but just exist), at times like this I feel happy that I'm not a background character. The author can't come up with so many names I guess. Besides, can this sum get any easier?
I quickly started solving the rest of the exercise and when I was on my last one, Traashid raised his hand and said, "I finished the work professor."
As expected from the Male lead, intelligent and quick.
I quickly wrote down the answer to the last one and raised my hand as well, saying "Me too."
Both Traashid and the professor looked surprised.
Then the professor checked both of our works, Traashid got all correct as expected.
And so did I.
Hah. Bitch, I'm awesome.
I thought as I did an imaginary hair flip.
"Did you copy the answers from the Crown Prince?"
Ugh! Here he goes again, doubting my intelligence.
"No. I did not."
"I don't think so. You can't get-"
"No, professor. Lady Adailia solved them all on her own." Traashid cut him off.
Wait.....
Traashid??!?!
The guy who hates me to death and who's personality is worse than trash (while dealing with Adailia)??
Yes!!! That means I'm doing a good job getting on his good side.
I gave him a grateful smile while he frowned and turned away.
Whatever. I'm just happy he did that for me.
"Well okay then", the professor finally left our table to go help a student who seemed to have a problem with something.

"Thanks", I whispered to Traashid who seemed a little less Trash today.

The rest of the day went pretty fast as usual. There was the announcement of the 'Competition' taking place at the end of the week during lunch break.
Also, our embroidery class teacher announced that the next class (which is tomorrow) will be our last class (since embroidery learning doesn't take that much time, besides the noblewomen were taught this skill from the beginning of the year. I was scared when I was told to design a flower pattern on the handkerchief cause I had no idea what to do.
So I left it to my (Adailia's) subconscious mind. I just zoned out for the entire lesson and at the end of the day, I had a sloppy and flawed but a flower design nonetheless, stitched on the handkerchief.
The day was over and a new day begins, the day on which I had a detention.
After the school hours were over I was supposed to sit in the Mage's detention room (knights and mages had separate detention rooms) for two hours or so. Seanna was reluctant to leave but I said it's okay and ordered the knight to take her back to the mansion and return to pick me up after two hours.
The Mage's detention room was a bit different than what I had expected. It had a mixture of different colours painted on the wall but when I stared at it for a few more seconds I realised it was moving. Like the colours on the walls were moving. And that was creepy as hell.
"It extracts your mana from you when you enter so you wouldn't be able to use magic inside it." The person in charge said after looking at my reaction. I nodded and took a seat at one of the tables. There were two other kids who seemed to be writing something.
"You were supposed to write 'I will not use magic outside the school premises', 1000 times but I don't see the point in making you write since you're not a mage anyway. So just keep quiet for two hours and do whatever you want while sitting in a place." The in-charge (she's a nice person) instructed me and I nodded.
For the first hour, I re-read one of the books I had but soon got bored and started doodling random things like eyes and flowers and whatnot.
After two hours were over, we were finally allowed to go out. I started making my way towards the parking lot, expecting to see my knight their, however, it was someone else.
"What are you doing here, father?", I asked as I saw an angry Archduke approaching me.
I gulped unconsciously.
"Ha! I come home early to find out that my dear daughter is still in this goddamn Academy without any escorts or protection! You have no idea how I must have felt!!" He scolded me.
I opened my mouth to say something but he again continued, cutting me off effectively, "Its the third day of the first week of your new and final Semester and you're already getting a detention, Lia! For heavens sake what have you done now?" He asked, clearly frustrated and stressed.
I kinda feel bad for him.
"I'm disappointed in you." He added looking at me with a sorrowful expression.
Wow! This guy has no idea what disappointment feels like. Disappointment is that feeling when you patiently wait for a week for your favourite comic to be updated only to end up with an author's note telling you they're going on a break for a month.
"Uh- actually it was Seanna who was supposed to get the detention but-" before I could finish the Archduke started laughing and shaking his head he said, "Stop lying, Lia. You and I both know how Seanna is. That child will not do anything against the rules even if we give her million golds for that."
Yeah right. Seanna is too much of a good child who doesn't do things for money. Unlike me.
"It was an emergency, father. That was why I forced Seanna to use her magic outside the school grounds. So she was supposed to attend the detention today but I thought it was really unfair for her so I decided to take the punishment in her stead." I explained.
"And what was the emergency?" The Archduke asked suspiciously.
"I.... broke my toenail and it hurt like bitc- I mean, it hurt so much that I forced Seanna to heal me." I lied.
The Archduke thought for a second.
Buyitbuyitbuyitbuyit....
"Seems good enough of a reason." He said.
Oh Thank God!
"Now who dared to detain my daughter?" Archduke asked, his malicious aura spreading.
"Uhh-"
"Names, Lia. I need names."
Stop it Archdude (oh Archdude sounds cool!), your killer vibes are showing.
" I don't know her name." I said with a straight face, "hell, I don't even remember her face that well. Let it just go, father."
The Archdude (yes I'm calling him Archdude from now on) narrowed his eyes, suspiciously but didn't say anything.
After that, the Archdude took me back to the mansion and the next day I had five more snitches on my back.
