《What lies beneath》Chapter Fifteen

Addylin's POV

There was a reason I didn't like my parents.

And it was a good one.

I was raised in a rich household, so they weren't there at all. Jenny and I were left with our nanny to be taken care of.

Once I turned 18, I moved out with Jade and started my own life, not using any of there money. They obviously didn't like that because they wanted me to be some housewife to one of the ceos of their other company's.

So since I didn't, Jenny did. And the last time I'd seen them, they said something very hurtful.

"You will never be anything without us Addylin."

"You will be just a low life scumbag."

So I told them where to shove everything they owned.

I watched them, as they made themselves comfortable on my couch. I'm not making them breakfast. I'll make Cole and Jade breakfast but not them.

"You okay?" Jade whispers.

"Yeah," I whisper. "I will be."

"I guess it could've worse," Jade says. "They could've screamed and ran away from Cole."

"Or laughed like you did," Cole mutters.

"Funny," Jade grumbles.

"Can you get rid of them?" I ask Jade. "I'm going back to bed."

I grab Cole's wrist and pull him back into my room with me. I lay down and so does Cole. I snuggle into his chest, feeling the tears brimming.

One drips and I know Cole could feel it. He kisses my forehead and runs his fingers through my hair. "You okay?" He asks.

"No," I croak.

He pulls my head up and looks me in the eyes. "What happened?"

"They said some things last time we met," I say softly. "Things that really hurt me Cole."

He nods. "I understand." I frown at him. "Everyday I get treated like shit for how I look," he whispers. "But just because I'm used to it, doesn't make it hurt any less."

"Sorry," I whisper.

"You have nothing to be sorry about," he whispers back.

"I do though," I say. "Our first meeting, I treated you like shit."

"Then apologised for it," he states. "You are so much better than everybody else, Addylin."

I get into his lap and lean down to kiss him. Our tongues find each other immediately, as his arms wrap around me.

"Shit wait," he says, pulling away.

"What?" I question.

"I'm getting hard," he laughs. I blush and get off his lap.

"Sorry," I say.

"Don't apologise," he says. "I just needed to stop so I don't make you hate me."

"I could never hate you," I mumble.

He sits up and then softly kisses me. "Good to know."

There's a knock at my door and then it opens. "They are gone," Jade says. She holds an envelope in her right hand and passes it to me. "They told me to give you this."

I rip it open and see an invitation.

To Addylin Green,

You are sincerely invited to the christening of Lily Jane Green at Julian Saint Church, commencing at 3pm.

Please RSVP with Jenny and Andrew Mcray.

"What is it?" Cole asks.

I frown at the letter. "Jenny has a child."

"Wow," Jade says. "So your an aunt?"

"Yeah," I whisper.

"You okay?" Cole asks, as he rubs circular motions on my back.

"I don't know," I answer. "Why didn't she tell me before it was born, that she was pregnant?"

"Maybe because Jenny knew you disliked her," Jade states.

Cole glares up at her. "Addylin is still the Aunty."

"And?" Jade questions. "I never spoke to my aunties and uncles."

"Maybe cause they didn't want to speak to you," Cole growls.

"Guys enough," I whisper.

"Sorry," they both say.

"So what's the letter about?" Cole asks.

"Lily's christening," I answer.

"Argh," Jade groans. "I hate those."

"You don't have to come with me," I mutter.

"Good," Jade says. She walks out of the room and I see Cole scowling at her retreating figure.

"Will you come with me?" I ask Cole.

"Is that a good idea?" Cole asks. "I mean I would love to come, but did you see how your mum reacted to my face. Imagine her friends and family."

"Your right," I mumble. "Maybe I could ask Sasha."

"Who's Sasha?" Cole asks.

"My friend from the bus," I answer.

Cole smiles at me. "You've never told me about her."

"I met her a day before I met you," I state.

"That's nice," Cole says. "I'd love to meet her."

"She's 18," I claim. "And we pretty much only talk on the bus."

Cole frowns. "And you think of her as a friend?"

"Well we gossip and talk about our lives," I state. "That's what I do with Jade."

Cole hesitantly grabs my hand. "Is Jade your only friend?"

"Yes," I answer. "Oh and Kade."

"Your ex right," Cole mutters.

"What about your friends?" I ask. "When do I get to meet them?"

"I don't have any," Cole states. I frown. "After what happened, no one wanted to be seen with me, so I lost most of my friends."

"Most?" I murmur.

"One did stick by," he says. "Darren."

"Can I meet Darren?" I ask.

Cole shrugs. "You can at a graveyard."

My heart breaks for Cole. "What happened?" I whisper.

"He was at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester," Cole states. "He was taking his five year old daughter to her first concert."

"Oh my god," I whisper in horror.

He nods. "Yeah."

"What about the mother?" I ask.

"Oh she wasn't in the picture," Cole states. "Darren raised Willow all by himself."

"I'm so sorry," I say. "You've been through so much Cole."

"Gods a cunt," Cole mutters. I flinch. "Sorry I know your Christian."

"No I just don't like the c word," I mumble. "I'm actually an atheist."

Cole looks at me, puzzled.

Why is he confused?
