《What lies beneath》Chapter Four

Cole's POV

I want to go to the grocery store. That's how keen I was to see Addylin again. Yesterday afternoon we talked about literally everything. She told me about her roommate Jade, told me her dream job (run her own cafe) and even admitted to not speaking to her parents.

Of course I noticed her stutter, which I knew was nervousness, which obviously comes from anxiety.

I suffered from anxiety after my kidnapping. Still do in big crowds. Don't know why I just do.

Anyway this is why I'm parked outside the supermarket on a Friday, hoping Addylin is on.

I'm such a stalker.

I get out of my car and head inside quickly, before I could change my mind. I grab a basket and grab random things as I go down the aisles. I feel my entire body brighten when I see Addylin stocking up the chocolate bars.

"Reckon you could pass me a Hershey's?" I whisper in her ear.

She jumps and turns around clutching her heart. I smile at her. "H-hi C-Cole," she says.

"Hey," I say. I sidestep around her and grab a Hershey's bar. "How's work?"

"Good," she answers. "No one has spoke to me today."

"Well except for me," I joke. She giggles and I smile proudly. I love her giggle.

"Addylin," I hear someone scream. I turn my head and see a guy standing at the end of the aisle. "Get back to work!"

"Hey asshat she's helping me," I growl.

He takes a step back quickly. "S-sorry."

He walks away and I turn back to Addylin, who's jaw was dropped. "Sorry," I say. "That's for if you get in trouble."

"No it's okay," she whispers. "Andy doesn't like me very much anyway."

"So I was right to call him an asshat?" I question. She giggles and nods. "Cool."

She starts rubbing her arm awkwardly. "I-I get off at six tonight."

"Okay," I say.

She huffs. "I mean do you want to come over for dinner?"

"Is Jade going to be there?" I ask. She shakes her head. "Um sure."

Her face brightens. "Okay."

"Do you want my number?" I ask. She nods and quickly gets her phone out. I type my number in and out me down as Cole💙.

I give it back and a big smile appears on her face. "I'll text you the address," she murmurs.

"What time you want me there?" I ask.

"7:30," she answers.

I nod and surprise her by kissing her cheek. "See you then."

I wore a nice button up black shirt and ripped jeans for this dinner tonight with Addylin. I didn't even know if this was a date. Was this a date?

I nervously pull out of my driveway and head to Addylin's apartment.

When I get there, I see no car in the driveway and sigh in relief.

Her friend won't be here.

Like I knew she wasn't joining us for dinner, but I didn't want to see her just yet. Well I mean I didn't want her to see me.

I get out of my car and wipe my sweaty hands on my jeans, before grabbing the flowers I bought for Addylin. I walk up her doorstep and flinch when I accidentally bang too hard on the door.

The door opens and my jaw drops. Addylin was wearing a dark blue, knee high dress, that was tight around her upper body and loose on the bottom. She had her hair down and curled and a little makeup own.

It's not like she needs it.

"Hey," she says timidly.

I clear my throat and hand her the flowers. "For you."

Her cheeks turn bright red, as she takes them out of my hand. "Thank you."

She lets me in and I follow her into the kitchen. I nearly moan at how good it all smells. "It smells amazing," I comment, sitting on a stool.

"Thanks," she says, blushing again.

She's so cute!

"What are you making?" I ask.

"Well I've made some butter chicken for dinner," she says. "And then a raspberry chocolate tart for dessert."

"That sounds so good," I say. "Especially since I've been living off spaghetti these last six years."

She giggles and I grunt a little when she bends down to grab out some plates.

I'm going to hell.

I know she's waiting till marriage, but she's not helping my case.

"Did you get in trouble after I left?" I ask her, watching her put some rice onto the plates.

"No," she answers, giggling a little. "I think you scared him a bit."

"Not a little bit," I say. "He probably shat himself."

She giggles again and hands me my butter chicken. She gets out some cutlery and then sits beside me.

"How is your business doing?" She asks.

"Good," I answer. "I got two new clients today."

"What is your business?" She asks, digging into her dinner.

"I sell art," I answer.

Her eyes widen in surprise. "Your own art?"

I nod. "Yeah and others too."

"So like people bid for the art online?" She questions.

"Yep," I answer. "I could show you some of my art sometime."

"I would love that," she murmurs, giving me a shy smile.
