《What lies beneath》Chapter Three

Addylin's POV

I felt really bad as I walk to the bus stop after my shift. That guy was trying to help and I just looked at him like he was a monster.

He probably always gets treated like that.

I get on the bus and scan my card, as usual smiling politely at the bus driver.

I look for a seat and see the girl Sasha, waving me over. I awkwardly make my way to her and sit beside her. "Hi Addylin," she greets me.

"Hi Sasha," I whisper.

"Your really shy," she points out.

I nod. "I know."

"How was work?" She asks.

"Good," I answer.

"Sorry I'm coming off as a creep," she says. "I just noticed you have the grocery store logo on your shirt."

"Oh," I mumble.

"My friend works there on weekends," Sasha states.

"I don't work weekends," I murmur.

"Have you got a boyfriend?" Sasha asks.

I shake my head, feeling my cheeks burn. "No."

"Really?" Sasha asks surprised. "Your really pretty."

"B-boys d-don't l-like t-the -f-fact t-that I'm w-waiting t-till m-marriage," I admit, fiddling with my fingers.

"Wow," she says. "I lost my virginity at fourteen."

"H-how o-old a-are y-you?" I ask.

"18," she answers. The bus stops and she stands up. "See you later new bestie."

"Bye," I whisper. She walks off the bus and blows me a kiss as it starts moving again.

I get home and sigh disappointed when I see that Jade isn't home. Probably at her boyfriends house.

Her boyfriend is nice, don't get me wrong. I just don't think he's right for Jade.

I get into my jogging gear and grab my AirPods, walking back outside and start walking down the street. I get to the dog park and nearly squeal in excitement when I see all the puppies and dogs.

I love them.

A bulldog runs over to me and jumps onto the fence, panting and waiting for my hand. I giggle and gently pat his head.

"Ronny," I hear a deep voice shout. I look up and my eyes widen, when I see the same guy from this morning.

Holy shit.

He had basketball shorts on and sweat dripped down from his hair down his ripped chest and hard rock abs. Did I mention he was shirtless.

Tattoos littered his skin, but the one that I noticed more were the angel wings covering his whole entire chest.

"Sorry," I say, timidly taking my hand off Ronny.

He stares at me for what seems like forever till his eyes harden. "Your that bitch from the supermarket."

"I-I-"

"Look just because I look like this, doesn't give you the right to write me off as some monster," he growls.

"I'm sorry," I squeak.

His gaze softens and he kneels down, putting Ronny on a leash.

"I'm Addylin," I whisper.

He looks up surprised. "What?"

"I'm Addylin," I say softly.

"I'm Cole," he says. We stand there awkwardly for a few minutes before Cole clears his throat. "Do you want to walk together? Get to know each other?"

My eyes widen in surprise. "Uh okay."

He opens the gate and I giggle getting onto my knees as Ronny runs over to me. I pet him as he starts licking my face. "Your dog is cute," I murmur.

"He's not mine," Cole says. "He's my mums."

I stand up and dust myself off. "D-do y-you l-live w-with y-your m-mum?"

"No," he chuckles. We start walking and I find myself relaxing. Why am I acting like this around him. "I live by myself."

"That's cool," I say and then internally cringe. That's cool?

"How long have you worked at the grocery store?" He asks. Ronny walks in between the two of us.

"Five years," I murmur.

"Dream job or something?" He asks teasingly.

I giggle and shake my head. "Just something to pay the bills," I state. "What do you do?"

"I run an online business," he says. "Can't really do any face to face, since I look like this."

"I-I'm s-Sorry I-I j-judged y-you," I say, fiddling my fingers. "I-I r-regretted I-it a-afterwards, b-because p-people d-do the s-same to me."

"What do you get judged for?" He asks.

"I look like I'm fifteen," I say. "I'm too quiet, I'm a virgin, I don't date, I don't take risks, I let people stomp all over-" I stop when I see Cole smiling at me.

Oops I said too much.

"I don't think you look fifteen," he says. He smirks. "Eighteen at best."

I giggle and look away smiling.

Cole is really funny.
