《What lies beneath》Chapter Two

Cole's POV

Darkness.

That's all I saw as I beat up the guy, who tried to steal my wallet.

He will think again before trying to steal off me.

"I'm sorry," he cries. "I won't do it ever again."

I get off of him and wipe his blood on my hands onto my shirt. "Don't under estimate me," I say, my tone cold, making him shiver.

I storm off and head back to my apartment. My empty, lonely apartment.

I take off my clothes that were stained in his blood and chuck them into the washing machine. I then walk to the bathroom and wash the rest of the blood off my hands. I look into the mirror and frown at the face in front of me.

I hated myself.

I looked awful.

Or what some people like to say, I look like a monster.

I never used to look like this. I was a pretty handsome guy. Till I was sixteen, kidnapped and tortured. Half of my face was burnt while the other side was badly scarred.

The rest of my body was also covered with scars, but I covered most of them up with tattoos. Ma says they make me look even scarier.

I don't really give a fuck.

I have my reasons for having them, so if people want to judge me for them, that's there own fault.

I guess I don't help it when I lash out at people that touch me, but that's because it only brings back memories.

Bad memories.

I walk to my room and put fresh clothes on, before heading into the kitchen to make some food. I open the fridge and see that it's empty.

When was the last time I went grocery shopping?

"Two weeks ago," I mutter, answering It out loud.

I groan and grab my car keys off the hook. I hate grocery shopping. A lot of people are there.

Judgemental people are there.

When I pull up, I feel a little relief when I see the parking lot isn't that packed.

I get out and see a couple of stoned teenagers staring my way. As soon as I give them an icy cold glare, they run away frightened.

Pussies.

I walk in and grab a trolley, before strolling through the store, grabbing the shit I needed. I get to the canned goods and start packing my trolley with spaghetti, when I hear a crash. I look ahead and my eyes widen in shock.

A petite brunette, stood down the aisle, cans all around her. Tears brimmed in her beautiful blue eyes and her sexy plump lips were pouted. I quickly walk over and pick up the cans. I see her stiffen and quickly stand up. We make eye contact and her eyes widen in horror.

I guess she was one of those judgemental people. "Here," I grumble, dropping the cans back into the box she was holding. "Your welcome by the way."

I storm off, my veins pumping.

Fuck people.

"My baby," ma cheers, as I enter her home.

"Hey Ma," I whisper, kissing her cheek.

I love my ma. I always have a soft spot for her.

"How was your week?" She asks, indicating for me to follow her into the living room.

"Shit," I answer honestly, sitting on the sofa. "I went to the supermarket and this dumbass employee dropped cans all over the floor," I explain. "I for once try to be a nice person and then when she sees my face, she looks at me in horror."

Ma pours me a cup of tea and I nod at her in appreciation. "Maybe she was surprised," ma states. "You don't really give anybody the benefit of the doubt."

I grunt and take a sip of my tea. "I think I know the difference between surprised and horror."

"Was she pretty?" Ma asks, sitting beside me and grabbing the jar of cookies.

"A little," I mutter.

Who was I kidding, she was fucking beautiful.

"Okay," ma says. "Do you think I could set you up with someone?"

"No," I answer coldly.

"But ba-"

"Ma," I growl. "I said no."

"Okay," she says, while pouting.

"I'm sorry ma," I apologise. "I just don't want to blind date because I don't want those girls getting there hopes up for some hot guy and then they get me."

"Your handsome," mum says.

I chuckle dryly. "Ma people say I look like a monster."

Her bottom lip trembles. "They don't know the real you."

"I know Ma," I whisper, kissing her cheek. "Only you do."
