I want to start off by saying thank you.

So:

Thank you.

I have been reading and writing ever since I was little, but sharing my work with others made me thoroughly anxious. This is the first piece of writing that I have ever shared with anyone, and despite being anonymous (in a way), it was still extremely daunting.

When I wrote this book, I had a few things that I wanted to achieve:

1. To write strong characters, despite their flaws

2. To ensure that there was some kind of character growth

3. To show the importance of communication

4. To make you laugh

5. To make you think

6. To make you learn at least one thing

7. To give an example of what love can be, could be, should be

8. To highlight the importance healing yourself and giving yourself time

Alette is, at its core, an extremely simple book, and despite that, I wanted to ensure that it tackled things beyond a surface level.

We're all bombarded with such intense themes and forms of media nowadays, and it honestly is difficult to see people romanticizing toxicity. Don't get me wrong, if that is your thing, and it is consensual, that's fine.

This story was first and foremost about Alette. About her growth and her experiences. About how we as human beings, have so many different sides to us. How versatile we can be. How strong we can be. How we can heal. And then comes the love.

I enjoyed writing a book about a simple love. About two characters that fell in love at first sight. Even though I don't believe in it, I think there's something kind of magical about it.
