《queenie ⚤ lando norris ✓》𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐲-𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞

The week between the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix passes by in record time and soon enough, Queenie is being dragged through the paddock by Charlotte in order to reach McLaren's garage and motorhome a little more inconspicuous than walking alongside Lando would have been this morning.
Queenie feels nauseous; she's meeting the Norris family today—or at least, the remainder of them, anyway, having met Oliver in the summer—and she can't help but feel out of practice. The last time she had to meet a boy's parents was back when she was dating Will. This is different, though. Meeting this boy's parents feels like it means a lot more important to Queenie than meeting any other boy's parents has previously.
There wasn't any pressure with Will's parents, Queenie started out as just a friend; a girl in his class at school. Meeting the Lahey family didn't come with any stress... meeting the Norris family comes with a whole lot of stress.
When she reaches the McLaren motorhome, Lando is waiting for her with a cautious smile. "Are you okay?" He asks, amused by the look on the girl's face.
"No." Queenie whines, walking into Lando's open arms.
Charlotte shares a smile with Lando before leaving the pair on their own, having to catch up with other colleagues to prepare for the weekend.
Lando chuckles. "It's going to be great, Queens. They'll love you."
"What if they don't?" Queenie frowns.
"Then we have to break up." Lando says, smirking when Queenie jolts away from his grasp to see if he's joking or not. Once she's satisfied that he's only poking fun at her, she shoves at his chest and rolls her eyes.
"You're not funny." The twenty-two-year-old scowls, shoving past her boyfriend so that she can enter the team motorhome and take a seat in the make-shift staff café.
"You should use that when my mum asks you what you like about me." Lando calls after her, laughing harder when Queenie flips him off over her shoulder.

"I'll just tell her you're a pity shag." Queenie retorts as Lando wraps an arm over her shoulder. She yelps when he pulls her closer to him and rubs a hand in her hair, wasting the effort Queenie had put in that morning to make it look presentable.
"Even better," Lando says. "Then you should follow up with questions about how much the family is worth."
"How much is the family worth?" Queenie jokes, already laughing at the deadpan look Lando sends her way before she can even finish her sentence.
"You're not funny." Lando pouts, using Queenie's words against herself. Queenie only smiles innocently in reply.
"Is everyone else here?" Queenie asks, taking the hint from Lando and changing the subject towards the Quadrant team visiting for his final race of the season.
Lando nods, grinning. "Yeah, I saw them about thirty minutes ago."
"Max said he's bringing foam fingers for everyone." Queenie chuckles to herself, thinking back to a recent text message she received from the older boy.
Lando rolls his eyes. "Make sure you bin them when you get the chance."
Queenie laughs at this. "But then how will we show our support?"
Before Lando can reply, a shout echos through the motorhome and Queenie's stomach drops.
"Lando!"
Lando's head swivels to his left and his smile stretches the largest Queenie has ever seen it. His arm leaves Queenie's shoulder in an instant and he's rushing towards where his family is entering the door they both just came through, she's surprised Lando's mum doesn't topple over from the speed Lando hits her, arms wrapping around the middle-aged woman's shoulders.
"Mum," Lando sighs in relief. "I've missed you so much."
"I've missed you too, darling." Cisca Norris coo's, kissing her son's cheek as she squeezes him just as tight.
Queenie waits patiently with a soft smile as she watches Lando be passed between his parents and siblings for welcome greetings and tight hugs. Then it gets a little harder to smile as the nerves take over her body as five pairs of eyes suddenly move over to her.

"Guys, this is Queenie," Lando introduces with a grin. "Queenie, this is my mum, dad, Flo and Cisca."
"Hi." Queenie waves awkwardly, stepping forward so that she's closer to the group.
"It's so lovely to meet you," Lando's mum, Cisca, grins, reaching forward to pull Queenie in for a hug. "Lando hasn't stopped talking our ears off over the phone about you for a while now."
Queenie blushes. "Oh," She exhales, sharing a look with the young racing driver. "All good things, I hope?"
"No." Lando shakes his head.
Cisca chuckles, rolling her eyes at her son. "Yes." She replies to Queenie's question.
"Good." Queenie smiles, feeling herself ease up as her nerves begin to disappear.
"Lando says you're a solicitor?" Lando's dad, Adam, says, his tone questioning rather than firm.
"Yeah, well, I'm a trainee anyway," Queenie nods, smiling at the older man. "I'm not in criminal law though so I've not got any interesting stories to tell you."
Adam chuckles. "Hard work, though?"
"Definitely." Queenie grins, happy for the smallest moments of bonding with Lando's family.
Flo makes a move to link her arm with Queenie's pulling her away from the group and towards some table and chairs. Young Cisca follows behind. "So, tell me everything," Flo grins. "How did you meet my brother?"
Queenie pales, shooting Lando a nervous glance. "Uh—I dm'd him on Instagram."
"You made the first move?" Cisca giggles, eyebrows raised in surprise. She could've sworn her brother had told them he made the first move.
"How else was I supposed to get his attention?" Queenie laughs and Cisca nods, agreeing that it makes more sense for Queenie to reach out to Lando.
"Do we even want to know what you said to him?" Flo chuckles, cringing already at what Queenie and Lando's first messages may have looked like.
Queenie blushes, shaking her head. "It wasn't anything like you're thinking," She denies. "I'd sent a message that said the Queen's dead."
Flo and Cisca burst into laughter, caught off guard by the comment. "What?" They ask through their laughter and Queenie joins them, face flushed and cheeks hurting from smiling so wide at the thought of hers and her boyfriend's first encounter.
Mere metres away from the three girls, Lando stands with his parents. His eyes are glued to the caramel skinned brunette in the middle of his sisters, a soft smile on his lips at the sound of their mixed laughter.
"Look at you, son." His mum, Cisca, almost whispers. She grabs his chin in her hand, turning his face so that his eyes meet her own. She's wearing that knowing smile he's only ever seen once before—when he'd watched her meet Oli's now-fiancée, Sav.
He instantly blushes, flicking his mum's hand away from his face and glancing at his dad over her shoulder. Adam Norris wears the same smile on his lips, only his eyes tease Lando rather than comfort him. Lando looks back to his mother, rolling his eyes as he does.
"What?" He mumbles, embarrassed.
"You're so in love with her," Cisca comments, smile widening when her son blushes a deeper red. "It's the first time I've seen you like this... it's nice."
Lando remains quiet, not meet his mum's eyes as he glances back to see how Queenie and his sisters are getting on.
"Have you told her?" Adam asks.
Lando looks back at his parents and nods, trying not to smile too hard. "Yeah, I have."
"That's great, Lando," Cisca grins at her son, rubbing his back comfortingly. "That's really great."
