《He Has Changed》Chapter 53~ Tote bag

I slip my arm under her thighs and one under her lower back as one of her arms wraps around my neck almost as if it's an instinct, holding her up against myself before leaning down and grabbing her book bag from the seat.
We'd just landed in Spain and she fell asleep a few hours ago while she was reading. I packed her books and annotation things into the tote bag with a design of her favourite flowers covering it. Of course it was a light pink colour.
I freeze when her eyebrows furrow in her sleep, I try not to let her wake up. Abby moves in my hold for a few seconds before settling on cuddling her face into the crook of my neck.
My eyes flutter when she places the lightest kiss on the side of my neck, the corners of my lips tilting up as I turn around to walk out of the jet that had brought us here to save my cousin's ass.
Fuck, that man is always in trouble.
I shake the thought out of my head as I keep walking down the middle of the jet, the flight attendant opens the door with a small smile, which I don't bother returning as I walk out. I hate smiling, but when Abby makes me smile I feel like I'm on a sugar rush.
I have no idea what she's doing to me, although I can't help but love it.
I walk down the stairs and towards the car that awaits us, a warm gust of air rushing past us causes her to hold onto me tighter.
My grip on the tote bag tightens as I pray for nothing to happen to the books, what if I put everything in wrong? She's going to kill me if I ruin her books, murder me.
A guard opens the passenger's seat when he sees Abby in my arms, I give him a small nod as I carefully slip her onto the leather seat of the car, leaning in and grabbing the seat belt.
I fix her gorgeous blond hair so it's out of her face she rests her head against the seat, brushing a few strands from her curtain bangs away from her face before leaving a kiss on her temple.
I make sure the door doesn't make much sound when I close it, so I don't wake her up. When I look at her through the window I can't help but think about how lucky I am to have this woman with me right now.
I open the back door and put her tote bag on the seat, staring at it for a second longer. What if it flies off the seats? She'll be pissed...
Dammit Ximena, you have me wrapped around your finger. I lean forward, ducking so I can lean into the car and pull a seat belt over the fucking tote bag with all her books, highlighters and sticky notes.

My eyes fall to the one of my guards who is grinning, I glare. "Tell a single soul and I'll have your head delivered to your family's doorstep."
Damn...
His smile drops to the ground as does his gaze.
I ignore how he looks at the ground with wide eyes and shut the door lightly, again making sure not to wake up my blond sleeping in the front. Quickly I walk over to the other side and get into the car.
"Open," she demands and I sigh before opening my mouth as I keep my eyes on the road. My eyes flicker to her hand as she shoves an orange sour patch kid into my mouth, she only eats the red and blue ones.
The house is a bit farther than I remembered it to be from the airstrip, and due to it being far along a beach line the jet couldn't have landed closer so we'll have to drive.
I take my hand and lift it off her thigh as she lifts her feet up onto the dashboard, Jesus, I'd kill the person if it was anyone else. The second she's settled and comfortable again, I place my hand back onto her thigh.
Driving down the narrow road with tall trees surrounding us, "it's so pretty." Abby whispers as she lays her head against the window and looks out, small bushes and flowers scattered everywhere.
I hum, playing with the hem of her sundress as I turn the corner, my other hand spins the steering wheel and I slide my hand across the leather wheel to keep control of the car when we're back on a straight path.
I can see the black gates to my house from here, the blue water behind it standing out against the trees. Abby gasps and my eyebrows furrow as I look at her quickly to see a hand covering her mouth.
"What's wrong?"
She doesn't move her eyes from whatever she's staring at as she speaks, "that house is fucking beautiful." I roll my eyes and continue to drive closer to the gates.
I knew she'd like it, I was going to stay at my apartment but when she told me she'd come with me I decided to push the gates of this place back open.
I used to be here a lot three years ago, with Abuela and Nico mostly. But ever since my parents decided to pay me a visit soon after Abby left, I never felt worthy of going here again. My grandfather had this house built, he said he wanted me to take it as my home, not some safe house or temporary living situation.
There's another waiting for Nico too, but I doubt he's ever stepped foot into it.
I didn't want to come here when I felt all those horrible feelings, anger, sadness and even the feeling of being numb for every day, back to back. For the longest time I thought I'd never be worthy to be here again, but here I am.

Finally the man I was when popz told me about the house, or well somewhat close to it.
I stop in front of the gates and watch as two guards pull each door open, "you like it?" I ask her as she tosses a red sour patch kid into her mouth.
"It's amazing"
I agree, the light coloured bricks are washed out but that doesn't take even a bit out of the beauty of the house. Vines with pretty Star Jasmine flowers growing on and between bricks, the vines wrap around the house, the fountain with three layers and water dripping from the top all the way down to the last layer.
The house is bigger then most of my other safe houses, the back has an amazing greenhouse with flowers growing, but since no one has been here in ages I bet they're all dead. But my favourite part has to be the roof. The roof towards the back has a pool up on it with a glass border surrounding it.
And I could have a few walls in the basement taken down so I could make her a library.
I stop the engine and lean forward, grabbing the yellow sour patch kid she was going to stuff into my mouth with my teeth, watching as she just stares at the house.
"Want to go inside or are we going to sit here all day," I asked when she seemed frozen in her spot, my hand gave her thigh a small squeeze and then her eyes snapped to mine.
The grin that slowly made its way to her lips forced me to smile, I forgot to mention how much I love her smile.
She fumbles with all the stuff she had in her lap, I raise an eyebrow when she grabs her pale pink claw clip and clips it onto my blazer.
Okay then.
She grabs her sour patch kids packet and jumps out of her seat after opening the door. I smile and shake my head while grabbing the key and also getting out of the car.
Walking around the car while pulling the black blazer tighter around me, she grabs my arm lightly and loops hers though mine.
I unlocked the house doors with the key that was attached to my car keys before pushing the two big doors open.
I hear her suck in a sharp breath the second she sees the inside, I can't help but do the same after seeing this place after so damn long.
You deserve it now Seb, you're not the man your parents said you are. You aren't heartless, I try telling myself.
I wrap my arm around her waist and ignore every voice in my head that tells me I don't deserve this house, the love my grandfather put into building it for me, because I know I do. Or well I do now.
Abby and I walk into the house and she looks around, the halls have high ceilings with chandeliers hanging to illuminate the place. Not that the windows don't do the job perfectly.
Sunlight from the huge widows peak in as her one arm snakes around my waist.
"I'm staying here forever", I really fucking hope we do, one day.
One day I'll make this our home.
I lean down and kiss the top of her head, just as she was about to lean in towards my body we heard a bark before the sound of paws hitting the tiles fills the house.
When Goose turns around the corner Abby's squeal widens my smile, "my baby!" She exclaims when he stops at her feet, not even seeing me standing beside her.
She pulls away from me and kneels down to hug Goose to her, he barks and places her paws on her thighs as she falls to her ass.
He hasn't even seen me yet, he's too busy showering Abby with kisses and love.
I cross my arms over my chest and watch them, when he finally sets his eyes on me he barks again. Running out of Abby's lap and jumping up in front of me, keeping his paws on my knees as he barks again.
I smile and lean down to pet him, running my hand over his soft fur to calm him down, slowly petting him behind his ear and he stands back onto the ground.
I put out my hand and when she interlocks our fingers I pull her right back off the floor, Goose stands in front of us, his tail moving back and forth as his tongue sticks out.
"You two should show me around," she suggests, wrapping her arms around my waist and putting her chin on my chest. Looking at me with that innocent, tempting and kinda adorable look she knows will get anything she asks for out of me.
And those eyes, those captivating hazel eyes of her's. I can't decide what about her has to be my favourite because it all is, she's my person, she's my favourite. Mi amanecer.
[my sunshine]
"Your wish is my command," I say sarcastically with a fake grin that quickly disappears, she rolls her eyes and gives my side a light punch.
I look down at the prettiest girl in the world, "anything you want, mi vida" I rephrase my words and her eyes light up. Pushing herself onto her toes to lean up and place a kiss on my lips.
"That's better, lets go now"
