《Psychotic》Chapter 16

Kage's P.O.V.
I woke up to the light from my window shining in my eyes, Erika still asleep on top of me. I smiled and kissed her forehead before slowly shifting to rest her on the mattress instead.
I heard that oh so familiar knock on my door as I put my shirt on. None other than Jess popped her head in.
"Checks!" She said obnoxiously loud. When she saw Erika asleep in my bed, something clicked. Her entire expression changed from joy to anger real quick. She walked into the room and closed the door behind her.
"I heard the rumors but I didn't think they were true." She stated after taking the key from her lanyard and locking the door. I stood up and blocked her from Erika.
"Jess you need to leave." She just stared down at her with a menacing face.
"She can't treat you the way I could, Kage. You can't replace me with her!"
"I'm not replacing anyone, she doesn't use me like you did." I stated angrily while keeping my voice low.
Of course Erika woke up because Jess wouldn't keep her voice down. She sat up, rubbed her eyes, and stared at me in confusion.
"Erika, this is Jess. The nurse who needs to be fired for sleeping with a patient." I said while glaring at Jess to try and get my point across.
"Hey hun, I was the girl Kage used to fuck before he met you. Careful though, he likes it rough." She laughed like a maniac. Maybe she should get checked in herself...
Erika's jaw dropped and I shook my head, grabbing Jess's wrist and unlocking the door after taking her lanyard and shoving her out. When I closed the door, I turned around to see Erika standing right in front of me.
"Kage is that true? You used to sleep with her?" I nodded slowly and leaned back against the door. I felt so ashamed. She looked down at her feet and chewed her bottom lip.
"In your bed?" She looked disgusted in the fact that she slept in that bed. Once again, I nodded.

I was expecting her to be angry or upset with me but instead she just hugged me tightly.
"Never again right?" She asked and I nodded.
"Never again." I confirmed to her that it was all in the past.
"Kage?"
"Yeah?"
"You're mine."
"I'm ok with that."
She laughed gently and rested her head on my chest. I rested one hand on the small of her back and one to push the hair behind her ears, the burn marks still visible. She frowned and stared at the wall.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"What is it?"
"Why her?" I sighed and shifted her away from me.
"Erika, look, don't overthink this. She was a nurse that wanted attention and I was desperate. All of that changed when I met you." She wouldn't make eye contact with me. She just nodded and turned to look out the window.
"Do you think she's pretty?" She asked me while playing with the end of her sleeve. I furrowed my brows and sighed, turning her around to face me.
"What are you talking about?" She just groaned and sat on the floor. I locked the door with Jess's lanyard I still had and sat down in front of her, placing my hand on her shoulder.
"What is going on with you, Erika?"
"It's stupid..." I shook my head and lifted her chin up to make eye contact with her, "well... uh... I'm a little jealous I guess."
"Why? There's no reason to be jealous." I asked, not being able to stop myself from smiling at the thought of her being jealous over anything.
"I don't know... probably because the thought of you with anyone else infuriates me..." She mumbled. I bit my bottom lip and stared at her. She glanced at me before she saw my expression.
"Why are you smiling like that?" You could tell she was annoyed by my grin.
"You get what it feels like to love someone. I fucking despise the thought of you with anyone else, Erika. It's not jealousy you just... love me." I explained. She paused for a moment and scooted closer to me.

She didn't say anything after that, she just rested her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes tightly.
"We can't stay in here forever..." I told her. As much as I wanted to, it wasn't an option. Not in this place.
--
At lunch, everything was quiet; no one said a word. Every nurse and staff member knew that Erika had been staying in my room but none of them either cared or had the balls to do anything about it.
It's gotten to the point that everyone knows that when I'm with Erika, I won't have an outburst so they really loosened up on us. I'm not saying that this is the best way of living but we can survive like this for a while.
Ms.Miller told me earlier that there would be a new psychiatrist in today but I told them that it was only under the condition that Erika never be alone in there again. I know they took me seriously because this time they wrote it down on that damn clipboard and put it in the new guy's office.
I was told the new psychiatrist's name was Doctor Hansen and is supposedly one of the best. I don't know if that is true or not but I assume we will find out.
After lunch was over, Erika and I walked through the halls together to Dr.Hansen's office. I told her that I couldn't go in there with her but a nurse would be with her because she can never be in there alone after what happened with Finch. I just can't take that risk ever again.
--
While I was in Dr.Hansen's office, I looked around at the walls; they still hadn't fixed the holes Kage made in them.
The doctor was a tall guy with receding brown hair. He was middle aged so already a lot younger and a lot less creepy.
Kage wasn't allowed in there with me so I was joined by Ms.Miller who was told to sit across the room and remain silent. She was just a supervisor in case things got weird again.
"So, Erika... why does your mother say you lied about being abused?" I shrugged my shoulders and slumped down in my seat, looking at the desk. He glanced at Ms.Miller before looking back at me.
"Okay then tell me about Kage." He said, clapping his hands together in front of him. I hesitated while I thought about what to say.
"He's my boyfriend."
"And you are aware he is 19 years old?" I nodded and watched his facial expressions like I was taught to do with everyone who works here. You have to know what they're thinking before they say anything... it helps a lot in the long run. He nodded understandingly and cleared his throat.
"Well Miss Daniels, tell me more about him. You two seem to spend a lot of time together so just tell me things you enjoy."
"He's nice to me and he doesn't ask stupid questions like a lot of the people here do." He set down his pen and took his glasses off, placing them in front of him on the desk.
"Look Erika, I know you don't trust me and that's okay. Trust is something you have to earn and clearly, I haven't earned yours yet." He said before handing me a paper to fill out.
'Do you feel like you are not safe?' Check
'Do you feel like your mental heath is worse?' Check
'Do you feel helpless/powerless?' Check
The other boxes weren't even worth mentioning, just stuff talking about depression and how if you feel suicidal, talk to the nurses and/or the psychiatrist.
When I handed it back to him, he didn't even read it. He just removed the paper and put it on his desk.
"Well other than that, your weight has improved. You haven't attacked any staff in a while either so... you're on the right track, Erika." He said with a smile.
"Can I leave now?" I asked as I stood up from my seat.
"Ms.Miller, please send in my next patient on your way out." He mentioned before I opened the door and walked out, Ms.Miller following close behind me.
