《Kill Me ✔️》Chapter 35: Him

Nico definitely likes the winter weather more than I do.
"Come on, baby. It's not that cold," Nico said with a slightly amused smirk. He knows it's freezing.
My teeth jittered as I replied while crossing my arms, "Are you sure we can't stay in Dubai forever?"
His answer came as we entered the airport, "You've got school here, remember?"
I think I just went into cardiac arrest at him daring to mention school while I'm on Christmas break.
"Mention school again and I'll tell airport security you have a pound of cocaine in your suitcase," I threatened, although he just rolled his eyes, clearly got scared by my threat.
I took a deep breath and tried to take my suitcase from Nico, but he swatted my hand away. My voice raised an octave, "Hey!"
"Can't have you hurting those pretty hands of yours with our wedding tomorrow," he insisted, and hearing him say our wedding nearly made me melt.
My heart and stomach felt like a marshmallow remembering the night we decided to go to Dubai and get married.
"I can't believe Winter is still with Sin," Nico said once the door to Sins' house was completely shut.
I shrugged with a smile, "I think they complement each other very well."
"Yea?" Nico raised his dark eyebrows slightly as we started walking down the sidewalk. He wanted to drive, but we were gonna finish dinner with Winter and Sin at sunset, so I thought it would be nice to walk home after. Even if the October weather was a little cold.
I nodded, "Yea. But we complement each other better."
"I know," he agreed.
I stared at the sunset, my steps coming to a stop as I admired it. It was Nico and mines favorite kind of sunset - pink.

I got accepted to the same college as Winter, and we even have some classes together. I decided to go to be an addiction counselor, it was something I was sure I'd never regret.
"I want to get married under a sky like this," I thought out loud.
"So lets do it."
"I never said with you."
Nico rolled his eyes and grunted, not liking my joke. I laughed and kissed his cheek, "I'm just kidding. Where will we get married?"
"Dubai," he replied instantly, and grabbed both of my hands in his. "This December. I don't wanna start another year not being married to you, Elle. Lets go, during your break."
I felt shocked at his words. I asked like an idiot, "Are you being serious, or are you kidding? Because if you're kidding, it's not funny."
"I'm not kidding. Please say yes," his voice was soft.
My heart literally exploded in my chest. Everything flashed in my mind. My wedding dress, my ring, his last name.
"Yes!" I exclaimed, jumping and wrapping my arms around his neck.
He lifted me off the ground, allowing for me to wrap my legs around his waist. I hugged him tighter than I ever had in my entire life.
He whispered in my ear, "I love you so much, Elle goddamn Russo."
As we approached our gate, my eyebrows furrowed seeing something in his pocket. I poked it and asked, "What's that?"
"The rocks from the day we went to the beach. You think I was gonna give you a ring with no memories infused into it?" he said before kissing my forehead.
I smiled widely while holding his hand tightly. Nico hasn't seen my wedding dress yet, but I can't wait for him to see it tomorrow. If he doesn't start crying as I walk down the aisle then I'll kick him in the balls to make him cry.

"Flight 329 now boarding," a woman announced over the speaker. Our flight.
I took a deep breath, and turned to look at Nico. Nico has always protected me, taken care of me, loved me. He holds me together when I need it, and doesn't judge me when I fall apart. He appreciates me, he values me, he loves me with his whole heart.
And with him, I know my life is a meaningful one.
"Amara was right," I heard him whisper under his breath.
He snaked his arm around my waist, "Lets go, Maribelle Russo."
"Why are you using my full name?" I asked with lowered eyebrows.
He grabbed my face with one hand, before pressing a long and sweet kiss against my lips. And as my lips moved with my soon-to-be husband, blissful happiness overtook me.
He pulled away, and used both of his hands to move the hair out of my face and hold my cheeks. He looked into my eyes, "Because this is the last time I'll be able to call you it."
He dropped his hands, and grabbed mine in his. As we walked to board the plane, he looked over his shoulder at me and held up a middle finger, just like when I was nine.
"From now on, you'll be Elle goddamn Cross."
