《Dorming With The Jocks》Chapter 8-

I was sitting at one of the round tan tables inside the school's café where a few students were sitting around chatting or studying. For how cozy and artistic this café was I was surprised there weren't more students here.

The ceiling was painting like one of those fancy cathedral ceilings with naked baby angels with harps and fluffy wings and there were three pillars strategically placed around the room with carvings from old graduating classes and where people had signed their names before leaving this place for good.

So far, Kent hadn't mentioned anything about the shower incident last night and I was hoping it would stay that way.

"Sadie!" I heard Missy squeal as she rushed over to me from the front door. I had barely stood from my chair before she was hugging me so tight I almost couldn't breathe. I hate those kind of hugs, the ones you usually get from that old great aunt who you only see once or twice a year and who always comments on how big you've gotten.

Even though Missy hadn't done anything to me to make me not trust her, I couldn't get that odd feeling in my stomach to go away. Especially since both Kent and Charlie told me to steer clear from her.

"Hi," I greeted in an awkward fashion, although I tried to sound sincere.

"How was your day? Are you getting used to the campus at all?" She asked sitting down across from me at the table.

"Yeah, it's a pretty big campus but I'm getting the hang of things," I said chuckling lightly, mostly because of how uncomfortable this was. Missy sat across from me with her eyes glued to me and a strange, plastic looking smile on her face at all times.

So this was obviously a bad idea, but I wasn't going to say anything to Kent or Charlie. All they would do is shove it in my face.

"I heard you are rooming with Kent," Missy blurted out and if my eyes weren't tricking me, her smile dimmed a bit. "Has he tried anything with you?"

"Excuse me?" I replied, somewhat loud, getting a few looks from the students around. Her question caught me off guard.

"It's only a question Sadie. I just figured since you're living with him and all he's probably tried something with you. He's such a horn dog as it is," Missy giggled.

"Why would you even ask me that?"

"Oh come on Sadie, don't be so naïve. I know you've heard of Kent's reputation," Missy pursed her glossed lips at me and then smiled again. "He has had sex with at least half of the girls at this school, if not more,"

She winked at me. Sure Kent was a major flirt but of all the things I've heard about him around school he wasn't a man-whore. In fact, the only things I really hear about Kent has to do with sports or physical ability.

"Those are probably just rumors Missy," I needed to figure out a good excuse to leave.

"Oh no they are not, trust me," She giggled again and the dark side of me wanted to reach across the table and slap the smile from her face.

"How would you know?" I fired back at her with a smirk.

"Well, Kent and I were together for quite some time,"

"What?" I couldn't begin to hide the shock from my face and that made Missy even happier. I knew it, they had dated in the past.

"I'm guessing he didn't tell you?" Missy threw her head back, dramatically and laughed for a moment before looking back at me, a malicious smile now on her porcelain face. "It's clear to everyone in school, but to you obviously, Kent is mine. We're taking a break for a moment so we can both have our alone time but trust me, we'll be back together in no time,"

For a few moments I sat at the table staring at Missy in disbelief. What could you even say after someone said that? I guess Kent and her would make a great match since they're both bossy as hell and want to control people.

"Oh I totally forgot, Kent and I made plans after classes today so I've got to get going," I said standing up quickly and grabbing my bags. Of course Kent and I had not made any plans, I'm sure he actually hated my guts at the moment, but I knew if I said that I would piss Missy off and that's all I desperately wanted to do at the moment.

"I'll walk you there then," Missy said, smiling and beginning to grab her things.

"That's alright, I can find my way back," I wasn't smiling back at her and she didn't seem to be affected by this one bit. She obviously was not trying to be friends, she had only invited me here today so she could get her threat across to me.

"I need to tell Kent something anyway," She said standing up anyway.

"Text him," I said turning away from her.

"But Sadie. . ."

"I have to go now. Bye," I nearly yelled at her, despite the glares the two of us were getting from others for creating a scene. I turned on my heels and booked it from the little safe, not looking back to see if she was following me once. So everything the guys had said was true from the start. Missy got her message across loud and clear, but luckily for her I wasn't even interested in Kent. Sure a little harmless flirting took place but if she really wanted him to herself she could be my guest!

Within minutes I was storming into my dorm room to be greeted by the two people I did not want to see. Kent and Charlie looked up at me from where they were sitting with surprise on their perfect faces.

"You're back early, did things go alright?" Charlie asked, genuinely caring. Kent didn't say anything but stared at me as well.

"You never told me she was a clingy, crazy ex of yours Kent," I snapped, throwing my back pack onto my bed and flopping down next to it. The two guys laughed and shook their heads like it wasn't a big deal.

"We both tried to warn you not to get caught up in Missy," Kent replied, rolling his eyes dramatically.

"All you had to tell me was that she's a maniac and I think that would've done the job," I said to Kent who only shrugged.

"Chill, trust me Missy is emotionally unstable and extremely dramatic but it's not like she's going to do anything," Charlie said turning his attention back to his magazine.

"She doesn't want me to be around Kent because they're going to be getting back together soon," The two just laughed and shrugged off what I had just told them. Absolutely none of this was funny.

"Like I said, we tried to warn you, it's not our fault you don't listen," Kent mumbled while not making eye contact.

I was ready to make a snarky remark back at Kent when Chunk and Squid burst into the room, looking more excited than a kid on Christmas morning.

"Did you guys know the new Avengers movie is out?" Chunk yelled, way too loud, shaking an also overly excited Squid by the shoulders. I glanced at Charlie and Kent who both looked as confused as I was.

"Wait, what?" Kent managed to mumbled before Squid went on a rampage, telling us all about this super awesome new movie that we all have to go see. Tonight.

"How are we going to go see it tonight? Curfew?" I asked, wondering just how serious the school's curfew policy was.

"Fire escape," Kent mentioned casually, nodding his head at the window in our room. I couldn't lie, I had thought about escaping out our window a few times already.

"It starts at eight, so if we move our butts we can get to the movie theatre in time and be back right after curfew," Squid continued to try to convince us to break the rules.

"I'm in," I stepped towards Squid and Chunk who surrounded me and crushed me between the two of them with an exaggerated bear hug and squeeze. Charlie and Kent glanced at each other again, then to the three of us and then back to each other before finally agreeing.

"I'm driving, meet at my car in five minutes," Kent jumped up, grabbing his shoes and keys while the other guys rushed out of our room to grab their own things, "Here, it's probably cold out tonight,"

Kent tossed a dark blue hoodie in my direction and I failed to catch it.

"Are you sure you play sports?" Kent teased while I hurried to pick up his hoodie from the ground.

"Oh please be quiet already," I grumbled, slipping on the hoodie quickly before hurrying to crawl out the window, ignoring Kent's laughter. Why did his hoodie have to smell so good?

Kent propped the window open for us and helped me out first, before following my lead but making sure to wedge our alarm clock under the window so it wouldn't close and lock us out. The metal squeaked under our weight and the ladder going down was slippery if you weren't careful.

We made it down in two minutes and sprinted towards Kent's car.

"Here, get in on this side," Kent opened his drivers side door and flipped up the center console so that three people could sit in the front seat, "I doubt you'd want to be squished in the back with those guys,"

"Because being squished next to you is better?" I questioned, crawling through the drivers side and sitting in the middle, it wasn't that messy of a car actually.

"Well yeah, at least for me it is," Kent muttered quietly, sliding in next to me and being sure to get as close as possible. How did this guy always smell so good?

As soon as Kent started his car the other three guys were sprinting towards us, as well as Jayden who had probably joined in last minute. I wonder where his brother was and why he wouldn't want to come as well.

"I call shotgun!" Squid screamed at the top of his lungs, but Charlie beat him to it and promptly locked the passenger side door as soon as he jumped in.

"Nice sweatshirt," Charlie commented dryly, glaring at the dark hoodie Kent had handed me, but before Kent or I could say anything Squid was ripping open the back door.

"You know I have motion sickness, jerk," Squid whined, sliding into the middle seat in the back with Chunk and Jayden on either side of him, "This is bullshit,"

"What's bullshit is you screaming at the top of your lungs, trying to get everyone's attention on campus as we're sneaking away to watch a movie," Kent snapped at Squid while throwing one arm behind me and turning to look out the back window while backing out. He was so close to me and I found him extremely attractive in that moment, the way his jaw looked, the focus in his eyes.

"I don't need a lecture from you, sir! Does this thing have Bluetooth? We need to liven you old asses up," Squid whipped out his phone and leaned forward, crushing me into Kent even more, so that he could try to work the stereo. Kent immediately shoved him back and warned Squid he'd throw him out of the damn window if he did that again.

We made it to the theatre in twenty minutes and within another ten minutes we were making our way into a crowded theatre, trying to find our seats. Kent lead the way, even reaching back to grab my hand at one point to help me through the crowds. Finally the six of us settled into our seats just as the movie began. Kent was on one side of me while Charlie was on the other.

"If you get scared just let me know, I'll protect you," Kent nudged me slightly and peered down at me out of the corner of his eye. I nudged him back and scoffed, this wasn't even supposed to be a scary movie and there was no way I'd need him protecting me anyway. Charlie shushed us harshly and we both were quiet for the most of the movie.

I tried my best to pay attention to the movie, I really did, but Kent's leg pushing up against mine and the occasional brush of the fingertips on my thigh made it extremely difficult. I could hear Kent smirk every time he caught me off guard by touching me and I'm glad it was dark because I could feel how red my face was getting.

"What a great movie!" Squid announced as he kicked open the door leading out of the theatre, causing one of the workers to scold him and tell him not to do that again.

"I need to use the bathroom first," I heard a few snarky comments from the boys before Charlie said they'll be waiting in the car, and hurried into the ladies room. If it was going to take 20 minutes to get back to the dorm and we had to climb the fire escape to get to the bathrooms, there was no way my bladder would hold. Pulling over on the side of the road is not an option either.

When I walked out of the bathroom I nearly ran into Kent, who was staring down at his phone and standing right in the way.

"Watch it," Kent turned around to glare down at me.

"Why are you standing right in the way?" I pushed past him and started walking out of the theatre. Kent jogged in front of me and opened the door for us.

"I wasn't standing in the way, you just don't watch where you're going," Kent muttered, opening the drivers door of his car and letting me slide in first. All the other guys were already in the car, buckled up and waiting to go back to the dorm.

Kent rested the side of his hand on my leg and left it there the whole drive home and since it was dark, I let him.

We pulled up to the dorm, Kent parking exactly where he had before we left, and quietly got out of the car, closing the doors gently.

"If we're caught, we're screwed," Chunk made sure to whisper as we made our way to the fire escape, good thing we were all wearing dark clothes.

Squid crawled up first, deciding to go one by one so the old metal fire escape didn't come crashing down on us. Chunk went next and then Jayden and finally Charlie before it was my turn.

"You got it?" Kent reached out and grabbed my hip as I began to pull myself up.

"Got it," I looked down at him and he immediately took his hand off my hip, holding both of his hands up innocently.

"I'm just making sure you're not going to fall," He admitted in a sing song tone, "but if you did, I'd catch you of course,"

I laughed and continued to climb up the slippery ladder. Leave it to Kent to flirt in every situation. I wonder if he was always so flirtatious. When I made it to my room the other guys had already left and closed the door behind them. Kent crawled through a couple moments after me and shut the window, our room was chilly due to it being propped open.

"Jeez, it's freezing in here," Kent complained immediately, grabbing my blanket off of my bed and throwing it on his. He kicked off his shoes and buried himself under the two blankets before poking his head out and lifting the corner of the blanket, inviting me to join.

"Are you serious?" I sat on the edge of my mattress and took of my shoes while Kent continued to hold up the blanket.

"What? I'm just trying to make sure we both don't get sick, I really can't afford that right now," He winked at me and I rolled my eyes but still crawled into bed next to him. He was already radiating heat. "Plus, my mattress is ten times better than yours,"

We definitely should have changed out of our clothes and into pajamas but neither one of us seemed to care about anything other than getting warm, both of our teeth were chattering and even though we were trying not to, we were both shaking.

"We'd get warmer if we took our clothes off," Kent mumbled, reaching out and wrapping one arm around my waist, pulling me completely on top of him. Kent was a lot bigger than me but for some reason I still felt like I was cutting off his air supply.

"We are not taking our clothes off," I wiggled for a moment but Kent wrapped his other arm around me and held me tight until I stopped moving, "how is this supposed to get us warmer?"

"I don't really know, I was just trying to annoy you,"

"You're doing a fantastic job," Kent laughed and loosened his grip, shifting both of us so that my back was against the wall and one of his arms was under my neck while the other was still around my waist. Kent buried his head into my neck and sighed, still laughing to himself.

"I think you enjoy irritating me way too much," I pushed his head away from my neck, it's sensitive anyway, and settled into his bed. It had been a long day and we had an early morning anyway.

Kent's soft snoring was filling the cold room within a few minutes and I felt his whole body relax into mine. We couldn't make this a habit. We aren't even really friends, so we should definitely not be sleeping in each other's beds every night. Although it is a lot warmer in his bed than it would be in mine right now. . . At least he was right about one thing, his mattress was way better than mine.
