"Are you feeling okay now?" Rudra asks while carressing my right cheek lovingly.

"Umm, I am fine." I reply timidly.

"Now, go to the washroom and get fresh or mom will think that I have made her favorite person cry." He says with a teasing tone.

"Who says I am maa's favorite person?" I ask confusingly.

"We have our eyes and ears so we know everything. Now go or you will be late for your office." He replies while pushing me a little. Suddenly, I realize that I am sitting on his lap so without wasting any time I get up and rush inside the washroom.

Oh, God! I don't have any idea when I sit on his lap. What would he be thinking of me? So stupid of me.

"Ishita, are you okay?" Rudra asks.

"Yes, I am okay. You go downstairs, I'll be back in a while." I reply while running my hands under the water. I hear his retreating footsteps and then I release the breath I am holding.

I splash some cold water on my face and then wipe the extra water with a clean towel. I fix my clothes and hair before making my way out of the washroom.

I take my purse out of the closet and decide to go downstairs because it's already past office hours. I just hope Soniya won't get angry with me for my tardiness.

When I reach downstairs I notice that everyone is already sitting at the dining table. I take my place beside Rudra who gives me a small smile which I return with my own.

Everyone talks about various things while I only reply when someone asks me something. Finally, we are ready to go office. Like every day I take maa and dad's blessing before getting out of the house. Rudra offers to drive me to the office which I don't decline. We get inside his car while Soniye goes with Aarav as she will be going to her parents' house first.

"You know you can talk to me about anything, right?" Rudra asks while driving the car.

"I know but everything is very new to me so I don't know how to start a conversation." I reply fiddling with my fingers.

"If we both really want to give this marriage a chance then we have to share our feelings. It's not that I am forcing you to tell me everything but I hope that I will be the one to solve your dilemmas." He says and holds my right hand in his left hand.

"Umm, can I ask you something?" I let out.

"Of course." He replies with a smile.

"Why didn't you want to get married?" I ask and feel his hold tighten on my hand a little.

"Do you want to know the truth?" He asks without looking at me.

"Yes but if it's something personal then no." I quickly reply not wanting to offend him.

"How about we go out tomorrow and then I will tell you everything, sounds good?" He asks.

"Going out? Like a date?" I ask feeling a blush rising on my face.

"Yes, as in a date. I think you deserve some special time with me and I also want to know my wife. So, will you go on a date with me?" He asks stopping the car when the traffic lights turn red.

"Oh, okay." I answer making him chuckle before he puts a small kiss on my forehead.

After dropping me in front of my office, Rudra goes to his office in a hurry as he has a lot of meetings to attend. I walk inside the office and give a small wave towards the receptionist who waves back.

Upon arriving in my cabin, I put my purse on the couch before sitting on my chair and starts working. Halfway through my work, I hear a knock on my door so I ask the person to come inside.

"What are you doing?" Soniya asks taking a seat across from me.

"I am signing some papers and after that, they need your signature too." I reply looking at her.

"Okay, I will do that. But I am here for another reason." She says with a mischievous smile.

"What reason?" I ask.

"I have found the perfect assistant for you." She answers happily.

"Really? That's great because I was thinking about this matter and wanted to talk to you." I let out with a happy sigh.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's call her inside." She says while I nod my head in response.

"Can you come inside Miss Assistant?" I give her a curious look but she only winks at me.

Just then the door gets open and a girl with long hair enters. However, when she lifts her head to look at me I can't believe if I am seeing correctly or everything is an illusion. I shake my head to clear my mind but when nothing changes in front of me, in a second I am out of my seat before rushing towards my new assistant aka my best friend Kuhu.

"You are here." I say aloud while hugging her tightly.

"Naah, my ghost is here." Kuhu replies sarcastically making me chuckle.

I pull away from the hug before looking at her again to see if she is really here or not. But my assumption turns out correct when she starts squeezing my cheeks hard while Soniya laughs aloud in the background.

"But you didn't tell me you would be here." I accuse while pouting at her.

"I told her not to tell you anything or the surprise would have spoiled." Soniya replies with a wicked smile before giving a high five to Kuhu who smiles in the same way making me huff.

"Hey, why are you mad? You should be happy that now I am going to live in Mumbai and we will spend time as before." Kuhu remarks nudging me in the rib making me giggle.

"Okay fine, I get it." I reply getting away from her tortures hands knowing well how much she likes to tickle me.

"But when did you give an interview for this job?" I ask while sitting on my chair.

"You know I don't feel good without you in Delhi, so when you told me about your job, then I got a solid idea. I had Sonia's number so I contacted her and told her that if any post is vacant for me then I also want to work here. But she was already taking interviews to find an assistant for you. So, I asked her if I could attend the interview and she said yes. I came here three days ago with Dad and gave my interview when you were not present here. Finally, I passed the interview and now here I am in front of you." Kuhu explains with a proud smile.

"She was so incredible in the interview that not only me but also the other board of directors approved of her." Soniye lets out.

"Thank you so much for selecting her, Soniya." I tell her in which she only shakes her head in response.

"She deserves the job the way you deserve your position in the company. There is no point in hiding that I will not be able to come to the office after a few months. I have a lot of faith in both of you so I want you both to run this company in my absence. Not that the rest of the staff doesn't work well but you two are like my sisters. So, my belief in you is more than them." I don't know how to reply to this because I didn't have any idea that she has so much faith in me, also on Kuhu who has just joined the company.

After spending some more time Soniya leaves the cabin saying she is going to sign some important documents. I heave a sigh before looking at Kuhu who is looking at the cabin in excitement.

"Do you want to see your cabin?" I ask her.

"Of course I want." She exclaims enthusiastically so I ask her to follow me.

After showing her the cabin where she will be working, I give her some manuscripts to read and ask her to make the necessary changes needed. The writers will be here tomorrow so we have to complete the editing in hurry.

It's now lunchtime but I have forgotten to bring my lunchbox. So I decide to go out with Kuhu and have lunch. I knock on her cabin before going inside when asks me to. I tell her my plan which she agrees immediately. I also asks Soniya if she wants to go with us but she replies that Aarav is coming here with her lunch.

Kuhu and I decide to go to a nearby restaurant which is not very expensive but serve great foods. Upon arriving there, Kuhu orders Pav Bhaji while I choose to eat Chhole Bhature. Thankfully they serve vegetarian foods too so I get to eat here without any problem.

"Come on now tell me how is everything going in your life?" She asks while we wait for our food to arrive.

"What shall I tell? I have already told you everything over the phone." I reply taking a sip of the cold water.

"Are you sure about that?" She asks looking skeptical making me groan. I don't know why I try to hide things from her when she can read me like an open book.

"I have something to tell you." I answer with a grumble.

"Now, that's like my bestie. Come on, tell me everything." She says giving me a triumph smile.

For the next fifteen minutes, I describe everything to her. Like how both Rudra and I want to give this marriage a real chance. I also tell her about the deal we have made before marriage in which I get a swat on my arm from her.

"At least now you guys are behaving like mature persons. Thankfully no one from both families knows about your deal. Otherwise, they would have been heartbroken." She says while taking a bite from her food.

"Hmm, but now I don't have to worry about that. By the way, there is one more thing that I need to tell you." I let out with a nervous laugh.

"Ishu, please don't say that Rudra is going to take you on a date." She retorts jokingly but when she sees my face her mouth hangs open in shock.

"Are you kidding me?" I shake my head in response while giving her a big smile trying to look innocent but I don't think this trick is working this time.

"So you're saying that you guys are decided to give this marriage a chance as well as going to have a date. Wow, great going." She says sarcastically while stabbing on the poor pav(bread) with a knife.

"All these happened this morning so I didn't get time to tell you. But now I have told you everything so please don't be angry at me." I tell her and bat my eyelashes at her.

"You are lucky that you are cute or I would have beat you so bad for hiding things from me." She replies.

"By the way when are you going on the date?" She asks after a few seconds.

"Tomorrow night." I reply shyly.

"Then we don't have much time at all to get you ready for the date. Idiot finish the food quickly because after office we have to go shopping." She says before taking large bites of her food.

"But why shopping?" I ask in confusion.

"So that I can prepare you properly for your date." She replies which makes me more confused.

"But the date is tomorrow so why would you prepare me today?" She rubs her forehead hearing my question.

"Are you having a headache?" I ask worriedly.

"No, my mother. I do not have a headache at all. But if you don't stop questioning me like a fool it will definitely happen." She replies with a sweet smile which only means it's better if I keep my mouth shut.
