"Dylan, I'm pretty sure we were supposed to turn right three intersections ago."

"Shush I know a shortcut."

"Dude we could've been there like five minutes ago."

"Would you shut up? You talk too much." He groans making me shut up.

I do not talk a lot.

Maybe I do.

"Ah, we have arrived." Dylan smiles.

"A lake? Why are we at a lake?"

"Didn't I just tell you, you talk too much." He says getting out of the car.

I forgot how much of an attitude he has.

I got out of the car and he locked it. "Walk with me."

"Don't you have a girlfriend that you can take on walks?" I asked walking beside him putting my hands in my pockets.

"She travels for work."

I furrowed my brows. "Chloe right? How come every time she comes home, you never bring her over?"

"Because I miss her and I'm selfish so I wanna keep her with me all day." He answers bluntly.

"I can tell, Brynn is always asking me to ask you to bring Chloe over." I laughed.

"Yeah I know, I get that message about three times a day." He rolls his eyes.

We walked down the path, where I could see children playing with their parents, dogs running around, and couples holding hands and enjoying each other's company.

"Didn't you block her one day?"

"Yeah, then she emailed me. I blocked her on that and then she emailed on my second email and so on and so forth. In conclusion, though, your girlfriend is crazy."

"She's not my girlfriend." I sighed.

"Yet."

"What makes you think we'll get back together?" I asked him.

He shrugs, "You both want to, you're both just too scared to make a move."

"I just don't want to lose her again." Dylan sat down on a bench and I followed his action.

"What makes you think you will?"

"Because I'm a fuck up. I hurt her too many damn times already. I don't want to cause her any more pain."

"Yeah, but she stayed."

"She shouldn't have."

"You're right about that." He says making me glare at him. "But she stayed because she loves you and she wants to make it work."

"Listen, buddy." He pats my back a couple of times, "Levi taught her to know her worth and Issac taught her how to be strong and independent. If she wanted to leave, she would've but like I said she loves you, she understands the things that you have going on and she is willing to wait."

"Did she tell you that?"

"No but I'm her best friend and I can see it. I can see how much you two want to be together, how much you yearn for her touch which is why I'm telling you to plan something special for the both of you and just roll with the flow. Do not worry about what she'll think of if you'll fuck it up again. Just ask her out and do what feels right." He tells me.

"Since when did you get so... like this?" I asked looking at him like he was a new person. I've been back for almost a year and I have never heard him talk like this.

"I've been having a lot of long talks with Levi and Jackie." He nods.

"Yeah, that explains everything." I chuckled making him laugh too.

"I don't think getting a pet monkey is the best idea." Brynn's soft voice says.

"Why not?" Bodhi asks.

"Because it'll help you destroy the house faster," Journey says. "It'll also stress out mommy." Journey cuddles closer into Brynn's chest.

The corner of Brynn's lips lifted. "It most definitely would stress me out."

"Awwww. Can I get a monkey when I'm older?" He asks.

"Sure, if you can handle it." Brynn shrugs. She lifts her head up and makes eye contact with me. Her smile gets a little bigger.

My eyes have truly been blessed.

"How was your date with Dylan?" She asked.

"Daddy went to see uncle, Dylan? That's not fair." Sol whines.

"You'll see him next week," I told Sol. "It was good, he is very... inspirational," I told her making her laugh.

"He can be."

Journey gets off the bed and comes up to me. "Can you tuck me into bed?" She asks politely.

"Of course." I picked her up. Brynn continued to talk to the twins in their rooms while I took Journey to her room.

"How was your day baby?" I asked.

"It was good, mommy took us to the carnival."

"Did you have fun?" I asked as I put the blanket over her.

She lays on the side, putting an arm under her head. I sat on the ground facing her.

"I did. I saw a boy from my school."

"Who's this boy we speak of?" I questioned her.

Journey? My six-year-old daughter and a boy? Absolutely not. Not on my watch.

"His name is Kendrick. He's really nice." She smiled. I watched her as she traced the animals on her covers, smiling. "He has a little brother just like me."

"Oh, what's his brother's name?"

"Brandon. He's a wild one. Kind of like Sol." She giggled. "I think Sol may have a crush on Brandon."

"A crush? No, not my daughter." I freaked.

Ugh, they're so grown. I might have to stuff them in a box so they could stop growing.

Nah, that's like abuse.

I gotta stop them somehow.

"Yeah, but Brandon is also Bodhi's best friend so Bodhi and Sol always fight over Brandon." She tells me.

I smiled, having kids is fun especially when they tell you about the drama. Little kids are just like miniature adults.

"Daddy, can I ask you something? Please don't be mad."

I furrowed my brow, "You can ask me anything."

"Will you and mommy get back together?" She frowns.

I smiled stroking her hair. "I want to be with your mommy. It'll just take some time okay?"

She smiles and nods. "I love you." I kissed her head.

"I love you." I plugged in her night light and then turned of the light.

I gave her one last kiss before walking out and closing the door.

Mine is to be financially stable and happy. Both of those are kind of self-explanatory. I just wanna be straight-up happy and not have to worry about not being able to pay bills and stuff like that.
