"No! Please don't take them away from me!"
"Mommy! Mommy!" A tiny adorable voice calls out. My eyes flutter open.
Journey and the twins were staring at me.
"What's going on? It's three in the morning."
"Daddy has another nightmare." Sol frowns.
Another?
"Nightmare? He's been having nightmares?"
I got up quickly from my bed, zooming up the stairs with the kids following me.
I opened the door to see Jax shifting and rolling in his bed.
"Please, I need them. Don't take them away from me." He cries.
"Jax." I shook him lightly.
"No, no, no please." He continues to cry.
"Jax, wake up." I pinched his bicep really hard. He jolts up making us hit our heads.
"Damn," I muttered rubbing my head. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah." He swallows hard. "Are you?"
"Yeah. Just give me one moment." I went over to the kids.
"You three need to go back to sleep. I'll stay here with daddy."
"Okay." They all replied in sync.
I went and tucked them all in their bed before returning back to Jax's room.
"You're having nightmares?" I asked sitting down at the end of the bed.
"I've had them for a while." He rubs his face with his palm. "It stopped for a while but they've been coming back recently."
"Did you tell anyone about this?" I sighed.
"No." He shakes his head.
I sighed again, sorry I'm really tired. "Alright, well, in order to make us work again, we can't hide anything from each other. If that's something you can't do then let me know now."
"I'm sorry, I know. It's just hard. I want to make us work, I do. I want us to be a happy family."

"Then prove it. Stop hiding things from me." I wiped a tear from his cheeks.
"I will. I'm sorry."
"Yeah. Do you mind me asking what the nightmare was about?" I asked.
"It's a reoccurring nightmare. Ray was taking you and Journey away from me and I was never able to see you again. I was surrounded by darkness and his laughter. I kept begging for him to let me see you guys again but I just kept hearing the laughter." He cries. "I fucked up, I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. I don't want to lose you.
"Jax." I bit my lip to hold my tears in. "You won't lose any of us. We're here to stay. Whether or not we get into a relationship again I'll always be there for you okay?"
"I don't think I'll be able to be around you if we'd stay as just friends." He mumbles.
"We'll make it work," I answered not wanting to agree with his statement. "Right now, you need to go back to sleep."
I moved to sit next to him on the bed.
"Lay down and sleep. I'll be here the whole time." I smiled.
He laid down and I did too. We didn't touch each other at all. He quickly fell asleep snoring lowly and soon after I followed.
~
"Dylan you don't have to keep checking up on me."
"Oh shut up. I want to okay? Deal with it." He replies rolling his eyes.
"You have a job to do, a girlfriend to tend to and a life to live. Stop worrying about me."
"You've been telling me that for five years. When are you gonna give it up and realize that no matter how much you tell me not to worry, I'm always going to worry." He says.

I stared at him in 'awe'
Please, guys, I'd advise you to go get yourself a Dylan.
"Stop looking at me like I'm the juiciest piece of chicken there is." He snaps his finger.
"Dylan, thank you for being a great person." I smiled.
"Huh?"
"You know you heard me. I'm not repeating myself." I sassed.
We both looked at each other before bursting into laughter.
"No but seriously Dylan thank you for always being there for me. I don't know what I would've done without you."
"Anytime. I just didn't want to lose you either." He frowns. The look in his eyes was the same look he gave me a week ago on his ex-girlfriend's birthday.
"I miss her every day." I hugged him.
"Yeah me too." He hugs me back.
The rest of the day Dylan and I watched A Walk to Remember. When we lived together in an apartment in Miami we'd come home and watch this movie every day with Jackie.
Even his girlfriend would come and join us. I loved his girlfriend. She never once got jealous of me. Instead, she came over to help whenever she could. She cleaned, cooked, babysat. She was also in the delivery room when the twins came, she was the hand I held while I pushed them out.
She traveled for work since she was a journalist so she was barely home. I barely get to spend time with her when she's here because Dylan always hogs her but this time I'm gonna kidnap her.
Mark my words.

The last year is upon us. The world is ending, but you already knew that; everyone does. Spring has come, and the flowers have bloomed here in this small town with no name. Thousands of different colours now paint the field that had been coloured by frost alone just yesterday. The townsfolk have gathered by the field to celebrate the beginning of the last spring with so many smiling faces. Tears too.
