《The Alpha's House ✔️》Chapter 23

It has been a month since they kidnapped Penelope. Being away from his mate is slowly killing Ezra so I have been giving him some of my strength to keep him functioning. All of my warriors and trackers have been working around the clock. Our most promising lead however is Ryan, Owen's mate. Even though Ezra still wants to kill him, for helping Penny get kidnapped, he has been helping us. He meets with informants from the rouge army. He has been feeding them false information, and has been placing trackers on them. We have been charting their journeys, and have been narrowing down the main base.

We have it narrowed down to four different locations, but we don't want to strike the wrong area. If we go to the wrong site, then they will know we are onto them and they will move. If they move Penny we will be back to square one and lose our informants. I groan sitting down at my newly repaired desk. I pour over the charts and information for hours before there is a knock on the door.

"Alpha, you need to see this." I know it is serious when Noah calls me Alpha, and not James.

I quickly get up and as I walk to the door I can feel Ezra on edge. Opening the door I see a stressed Noah with a brown package in his hand. I immediately realize why he is stressed. The package with my name on it has a scent of Penny, and blood. I take the package and shut the door in his face. I love Noah, but I want to be able to react to the package honestly, and not have to act like and Alpha. I feel my eyes pool with tears as I think of what could be in the package.

I unwrap it as quickly as I can, tearing the paper off. Spreading the contents on my desk I take a deep breath in. I first pick up the black dress that my Princess was wearing when she was kidnapped. It was ripped up, but it remains intact. I hold the dress to my face and inhale the faint smell of the love of my life. Her sweet scent was paired with the scent of rabbit blood. I am relieved that it wasn't her blood, but I know he is sending a clear message. My shaking hands lay the dress on the desk, and pick up the note. My tears fall on the paper as I began to read the letter from Percy.

I would like to return the dress, the last shred of you has been torn from my Pippa, and she does not miss you. It barely took a week for her to forget you, and rejoice in my presence once again. In the past month my darling and I have grown deeper in love, and have some amazing news! We are expecting our first child. Penelope is with her rightful family. Our family is growing, and we have no room for you, so if you care about Penny you would stop looking for her.

I drop the note as I reach out for the final item in the package. My hands shake violently as I pull the human pregnancy test in front of me. Wolves don't need pregnancy tests because at six weeks the female wolf's scent changes, and you know. I know he had her take the test as proof. I know it is hers because it has her scent all over it. I can't help but cry. Penny's pregnancy means one of two things. Either she is happy with Percy and moved on and is starting a family, which I highly doubt. Or he forced her again, and she is being tortured like she was before. Either option makes Ezra whine, as I feel part of my soul crumbling.

I flipped my repaired desk in anger, and mindlinked someone to buy a new one. I run out and shift into Ezra. Even though he is weak, he anger and despair pushed him further into the woods. My primal instincts take over as I just run. As I get to the edge of the pack's boarder I notice a pungent smell. My fur stands on edge as I realize there are rogues at the border. I mindlink my warriors, and can sense them getting closer. I know I should wait for them, but I am pushed forward my white hot anger. I charge at the rogues and began attacking. By the time my warriors arrived I had already taken out thirteen rouges.

We quickly wipe out the onslaught of rogues, but as the adrenaline leaves my system I feel pain searing through my side. I look down, and realize I have been bleeding profusely throughout the fight. I see Noah walk up to me, and before I could say anything, I feel myself falling forward. I see a worried look in his eyes as he quickly goes to pick me up with a warrior's help. I got to speak, but my words come out slurred. My brows furrow, and I try to speak again. I blink a few times as my vision darkens.

I find myself falling into darkness. I smile as I see Penny standing over me. I reach up to touch her smiling face, and run my fingers through her auburn curls. I go to kiss her, but she fades into darkness.
