《MC's Viking Warriors- Rogue #5》Katie

"Dad," I call from the hallway, I haven't seen the outside world in three days and I'm going stir crazy.
"What, monkey?" My father calls back as I hear his footsteps on the stairs as he comes towards me.
"I'm going out with Grace into town." I state with conviction as my father pulls me into his arms.
"I-I don't know Katie..."
"B-but dad, you said the threat was gone..."
"I know..." my father trails off, "but I like knowing you're safe and I can't when you're not with me."
I bite my lip as he strokes his hand through my hair and sighs heavily. My father has hardly let me leave his sight since that man left the prison, I've seen him walking around the compound a few times but he's gone most of the time. Disappointingly, he hasn't seen me since but that's hardly surprising- my father has kept my curtains drawn nearly all the time.
"Please dad, it will only be for an hour or two."
"Fine, but I'll drop you off and pick you up."
"Yay!" I squeal and squeeze his middle making him groan out in surprise.
"Come on them munchkin," he mumbled as he kisses the top of my head before pulling away to find his shoes.
I'm already ready and waiting by the door, my plans with Grace prepared and a feeling of freedom in my chest.
"Are you going to be warm enough?" Dad asks as he scans my outfit of some jeans and a long sleeve top.
I roll my eyes playfully at him as I open up the front door and step into the lightly warming September sun.
"I'll be fine, dad, stop worrying." I press a kiss to his bristly cheek before skipping over to the waiting car. Even though my father is the most feared president in the biker world, I have never even sat on a bike, my father doesn't want to risk it.

We drive in a companionable silence until Grace waiting on the pavement appears in the windscreen and then my father begins to speak. He gives me the usual spiel about the rules and how I am to be waiting in this exact position in two hours.
"I know, I know dad." I give him another kiss on the cheek and lean over to the other side to open the door. My father's hand catches mine and I turn back to look at him, my face etched with confusion.
I look down at my palm and notice my father has pressed fifty pounds into my palm. Squealing I throw my arms around him again and tell him that I love him.
When I hear my dad's car pulling away from the curb, pulling away from me, I feel a prickle of fear at not having him close to me but Grace smiles and throws her arm over my shoulder.
"Come on Katie, let's have some fun."
I briefly glance over my shoulder, hoping my father will still be behind me, but he isn't.
Grace and I visit my favourite bookshop and I can't resist buying a few books, even as Grace whines about being bored. Then, as punishment for the bookshop, Grace drags me towards the biggest clothing store in the town.
"Do we really need any more clothes Grace?" I plead as I'm dragged into the stuffy shop.
"We always need more clothes girl!" She exclaims and I suddenly find myself standing in front of the lingerie section.
"Grace!" I whine as I squeeze my eyes shut tightly, I've never seen bras like these before.
"Oh come on Katie," Grace laughs, "you can't act all innocent on me now girl, I know you got a horny kitty just like the rest of us."

We both cackle as I blush at her filthy words but I weakly pry my eyes open and stare at the frilly lace and slips of material.
"Pick a few Katie, you won't believe how sexy they'll make you feel."
"Grace, I can't... my dad would kill me."
"So just hide them," Grace shrugs before she leaves my side and begins to pick out her own unmentionables.
My eyes are drawn to a pale, baby blue set that appears to be more modest than most, but still shockingly scandalous for me.
"Have a closer look at it." Grace suggests, and gives me a gentle nudge towards the set. She's caught my eye hovering over it and winks at me supportively.
After I finally pluck up the courage to buy the blue set, Grace and I visit a small cafe and talk about nothing and everything. Luckily the boy from before doesn't come into the topic, I don't want to turn into a tomato in public because of Grace's lewd mouth.
My eye catches on the hands of my watch and I realise that I only have a few minutes before my father is expecting me. We quickly pay and leave the cafe.
I glance up at the sky and notice ominous grey clouds looming above our heads.
"How're you getting home?" I ask Grace as we wait on the curb to be collected.
"My brother," Grace replies as she checks her phone.
No sooner does she answer than her brother's car pulls up and the first few drops of rain fall at our feet.
Grace waves to her brother before turning back to me with a smile.
"You're dad will be here soon, won't he?" Grace asks worriedly as the rain begins to fall harder.
"Yes," I nod and smile reassuringly at her, "he'll be here any minute."
"Ok," Grace nods but she still looks unconvinced as she gives me a kick squeeze before getting into the car.
We wave to each other as she drives off. No sooner does the car disappear down the road than a text dings on my phone.
I look down, wiping the rain drops off the screen and see a text from my father telling me that a prospect will be picking me up instead.
Groaning, I step back from the road and try to find some cover from the now torrential rain.
Twenty unanswered phone calls to my father later and I'm beginning to get worried, and cold.
When a car slows up before me I step forwards with a smile, finally the prospect is here. But when the window rolls down my smile falters, this isn't one of my father's men.
"You need a lift darlin'?" The man drawls as I shift uneasily from foot to foot.
"Ummm." I squint into the rain and shiver from the chill.
"You'll get sick standing out here in this rain, I'll give you a lift home."
"Ummm..." I hesitate for a moment and then the boom of thunder makes my decision for me.
I take another step towards the still running car and reach my hand out for the handle.
Suddenly, a voice booms behind me, making me flinch and pause.
"What do you think you're doing?"

This must be in the hidden gems collection " -3ndlesslove"This was, by far, the best one I've read. It just resonated with me when it came to Noah's POV. It wasn't something that just magically came together. It took time and effort for them to get to where they are, and I respect that. It taught me more about how to look at things so thanks a lot for making this book. I meant a lot to me. I will definitely read the sequel and your other books" - Generik_Jay
