(Last night before they had breakfast.)

I walked into my room and threw off my shirt. Rogue Sightings have been occurring all night. My pack is starting to question whether they are safe or not.

They question their safety only. Their loyalty is without question. The same people who follow me are the same ones who agree with my system of my pack.

I grabbed a rag off of my dresser and wiped my face.

I over looked the yard of my pack. Mothers are with their children, fathers are training and the prepubescent teens are watching, amazed that their fathers are their idols .

I've recalled many times where I was once one of them. But instead of training I was learning about how to run a meeting, how and when to argue when you disagree with someone. I see my fathers black SUV pull up and I know he's come to talk about breakfast at Alpha Nathaniel's house. Again.

I, personally, don't care to go half the time. I wouldn't be going at all but even an Alpha who doesn't want a mate has to know she's ok. Not for my sake but for my wolfs sake.

He's been feeling what Evangeline feels now, since we've had a lot of physical contact. Last night she was afraid and sad. I couldn't understand why but she was angry as well.

The mate side of me wanted to comfort her and oblige by her every wish and command. But the logical side of me knew If I did, the mate bond would only increase. And that was the last thing I needed.

Although I try to avoid confrontations, conversations, and physical touch I can always feel her starring.

I like her to think I don't know simply because I find it amusing that she could be so naive as to think I'm not observant.

I can smell my father and a couple moments later he's opening my door.

"We've discussed your lack of knocking. You need to start obeying that rule father." I turn to grab a towel so I could take a shower.

"Yes but all the times you haven't knocked when your mother and I were enjoying our private time, I figured this is pay back." I give him a blank look and head towards the shower.

"I'm having breakfast at David's house, care to join me?"

I've started the shower by now but I could still hear him.

"I suppose so. Give me 20 minutes and we'll leave as soon as I'm ready. Please inform Jeremiah that he will need to company us as well. And tell Joshua he is to watch over to pack."

I strip my clothes and let the steam and burning water hit my muscles. My mind tends to feel at ease when I shower. As if I'm on a cloud of nothingness and the earth is what carries all my burdens.

"As you wish."

My father leaves and I tend to my business.

When I've completed my shower, I step out and I get dress in my normal attire. A regular suit and tie.

My hair is some what slicked back but yet loose. As if I just woken out of bed and decided to be careless with my hair.

I put on my watch and head towards the door.

I pass many pack members who bow their heads and say their "Hellos" or "Good Morning Alpha."

I acknowledge all of them of course. I'm not a monster, although some would disagree.

I'm ruthless towards rogues, trespassers, hunters and wanderers. But never towards my pack members.

I finally hit the bottom of the stairs when both my father and Jeremiah step out dressed in suits as well.

"Are we ready?" My father says and Jeremiah and I both nod our heads.

"Where is Joshua?" I ask

"Behind you." Joshua has always been the peacemaker type of person. He has never been stressed, unhappy, or depressed. He's quit cheerful. Which means he's childish at times.

"You are to contact me if anything is to happen. Understood?"

"Understood. Now, go visit your mate." He winks at me but I growl at him. No one is to know of her or she could be put at risk.

He puts his hands up in a surrendering type of fashion and smiles.

"It slipped, my bad. Just go have fun. It won't kill you to smile you know." He shakes his head but I give him a pointed look.

Jeremiah laughs but when I raise an eyebrow at him he sobers up. Quickly, I might add.

We all head out the door and into the car and head towards Alpha Nathaniel's Territory.

We're met with four wolves at the border who let us pass through. We step into the pack house and were greeted by Nathaniel and his father.

"Welcome, won't you all come in?" David leads us through the doors and into the kitchen.

Everyone greets us and I notice Evangeline isn't at the able yet. She's late.

"Nate, you're going to have to call Eva. She has her wall up." Daniel came in and sat next to his mate.

"Alright." His eyes change to a dark brown and A few moments later and his eyes are back to grey.

"She's coming."

"Any idea as to why her wall would be up?" We all turn to her father who asked the question.

"She said she needed time alone."

I focus on her wolf and I notice she seems anxious and worried. But then it all changes to a calm mood. As if she just flipped a switch. Odd.

Evangeline comes bounding down the stairs and starts to say hello before she completely stops and I could hear her heart beat pick up speed.

"Evangeline?" Rider slightly surfaced when he felt that his mate was afraid.

It aggravates me to no end that I'm starting to loose control of my wolf. So I reined him back in and made sure I blocked him out.

Evangeline looked at me with such frightened eyes but turned towards Daniels mate when she asked if she was alright.

Then, Nathaniel asked if she was fine and went to get up but Evangeline seemed eager for him not to .

"Nothing! I... I was expecting a package and I was hoping it was the delivery guy. "

Nathaniel went on to tell her packages don't arrive here but at a different location. She didn't look interested but she nodded and smiled anyways. But when she did you could start to see the dark circles around her eyes start to show.

"Dude, did you even sleep last night? Your bags have gotten darker" Alexander's mate went to touch Evangeline's face but she smacked them away.

"I'm fine. I was just watching movies." She shrugged her shoulders acting normal about it but I knew better. She was lying.

I starred intently at her which made her fidget in her chair. Nathaniel notice and distracted me from his sister. Well played. We talked aimlessly but I still noticed Evangeline falling asleep.

Moments passed and I could tell Evangeline was fighting off sleep. But for a few seconds she was asleep, that was until she screamed.

When she did, she dropped her plate of food on the floor and spilt the orange juice all over the table. She tried frantically cleaning it up but she looked frightened.

She kept apologizing until her father made her stop and calm down. Her father, Nathaniel and I were all out of our seats worried for Evangeline. I was more on alert than anything.

When her father asked what was wrong again, and for the truth .... she lied. But I voiced my opinion this time.

"She's lying.."

"It's not a lie. I promise." I could tell she was silently begging me to let it go but i wanted to know what was troubling her.

"I know something is troubling her I just don't know what." Evangeline just couldn't tell the truth to save her life.

So when her father asked again but this time if someone was threatening her she got scared and shaky. But she calmed down enough to tell yet, another lie.

About how she's upset with me not wanting her. Which is partially true for the most part but I knew there was something else.

Her father believed it and we all sat back down.

Evangeline started talking when both our phones beeped. She read her text message and I read an email from Joshua saying they found a child's shoe outside the border of the territory and all the children have been accounted for. So someone was trying to enter our territory.

I was replying when I caught Evangeline's announcement.

"The separation ceremony is off. I will not explain why I changed my mind but it's to be cancelled. No, this has nothing to do with my mate and I. Just know I will not go through with it any longer."

I looked towards my father confused thinking he had something to do with this but I knew he didn't. So why the change of heart?

When asked she replied "things happen."

She didn't seem to happy with her decision, and when her phone went off again her heart skipped a beat. It was either she was anxious or scared to read the text message but she relaxed when she finally did.

I got up to leave but Nathaniel reminded me of some business we had to discuss. When he finished we all headed towards the front door.

I saw Evangeline get on that bike and all I could think about was a cold shower. She was even more attractive on a motorcycle. When she rode off we all got into the car.

"So... She's not going through with it. Any ideas as to why she changed her mind?" I looked towards my father and thought about it. Why did she change her mind?

"I'm clueless but when she did announce it did you all realize she referred to me as a mate, and not by my name?"

"Don't tell me you're hurt about that?" I looked towards Jeremiah who was loosening his tie.

"Hurt? No. Suspicious? Yes. Everyone at that table knew we were mates. And she's always addressed me as Braxton or Alpha Braxton. Never mate."

"Is that strange?" My father asked.

"It is when you're lying the entire time at breakfast."

"How do you know she's lying?" Jeremiah asked.

"Her wolf. The bond is getting stronger the more I'm around her. I can feel the littlest of emotions but when I do I know it's hers. She was afraid, angry, and saddened last night. But I didn't understand why."

"She did say she was watching movies. Maybe that has some type of explanation to her random

Mood wings."

I thought it over and that could explain all the emotions but I had this feeling that it was more than that.

"You could be right. But I'm not sure anymore." I laid back in the seat and closed my eyes. Her grey eyes still haunt me in my sleep.
