《His Runt |✔️|》Chapter 20

Unlike the night before, she woke with Kole still laying beside her. She couldn't help but relish in the warmth and comfort he projected. As much as she wanted to stay in his arms all morning, she knew she had to get up and get things done- specifically call Blue to meet up and she wanted to find out for sure if she was pregnant or not. Not wanting to wake Kole up before his morning alarm, she quietly slid out of bed, wincing as he shifted in the bed behind her.

She walked past the living room, where Ian was up playing a videogame, looking like he hadn't even slept yet; if the junk food wraps laying beside him and the beginning of bags under his eyes were anything to go by.

"Did you even sleep last night?" She frowned crossing her arms.

"No, I'm so close to defeating the game. I cant stop now." Ian said slowly, his eyes never leaving the TV.

"Ian, you can have thirty more minute, and then you are gong to bed." Rory frowned.

"Fine." Ian said.

"Ian, I mean it." She said more sternly.

"Ok, I will."

Rory smiled walking into the kitchen and started to make some eggs. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the note from Blue. She knew she was going to keep pushing it away, so she picked up her cell phone and quickly dialed the number.

"Good morning sunshine." Blue greeted.

"Morning." Rory said. "Um, I was wondering if you were still in the area?"

"I am. Do you want to meet up?"

"I do... I think...um, yeah." She stuttered.

"Good. How about we meet at Edna's house, and I will bring by some lunch?"

"Yeah, that sounds good."

"Perfect, I will see you in a few hours." Blue said before hanging up.

Rory grabbed a plate from the cupboard and smiled when she heard the TV turn off and Ian make his way to his bedroom. She scooped up the eggs and walked into the livingroom hoping to watch some TV before she had to get around for the day. She pushed around the eggs not entirely hungry but knowing that she may have be pregnant she had to keep her strength up as she could be eating for two.

"Good Morning," Kole said kidding her on her head, breaking her out of her thoughts.

"Morning." She smiled, happy that something seemed to be back to normal. "What do you having going on today?"

"Meetings with parts of the pack. Are you ready for the full moon tonight?"

"I am. Do you want me to come to the pack meeting? I called Blue and was going to meet with her, but I can reschedule it?"

"No you don't have to, the meeting is just a general update. When are you meeting Blue, I can meet you guys."

"We're meeting around lunch time at Edna's and if you can make it that would be awesome, but if not that's ok too."

"No, I'll be there. I want to hear what she has to say." Kole said.

"OK, thank you." She smiled.

"Not to cut this short but I have to get going." Kole said kissing her forehead.

"Sure." She nodded. "I think I'm going to visit Edna for a little."

"That's a great Idea, I'm sure she will be happy to see you."

As soon as Kole left, and as she felt their connection stretch she was sure that he was out of hearing distance. She picked up the phone and asked Georgia to meet her at Edna's with a pregnancy test.

"Ian, I am heading to Edna's, I will be back before lunch." She yelled through his bedroom door, needing to remind him that he needed sleep.

"Ok."

"Go to sleep, young man."

"Yes mum." She heard him say sarcastically, but the word mum made her stomach drop at the all to real possibility that she was carrying a pack pup. She walked out the door and got onto their golf cart and slowly drove to Edna's smiling as soon as her knick-knack filled yard came to view.

She pulled to the edge of Edna's grass and noticed Edna standing at her door, obviously waiting for her to appear.

"Good Morning, Edna." Rory smiled.

"Good Morning, dearie. I see the Moon Goddess blessed you with a mating mark." Edna smiled hugging Rory and moving her hair away to get a better view of the bite mark Kole gave her two nights before.

"Yeah," I smiled. "How are you doing?"

"I'd be better if people came and visited me more." She smiled, "Peter hasn't stopped by in ages, too busy with meetings and patrol."

"I'm sorry, Edna. I can talk to him for you." Rory said.

"You do that dear, give him a firm talking too." Edna said a sparkle in her eye.

"Good Morning!" Georgia smiled running onto the porch and launching herself at Rory with a big hug.

"Did you bring the test?" Rory asked while she was trapped into the tight hug of her best friend.

"I did. Do you want to do it right now? Get it over with?" She asked.

"Yeah I do." Rory nodded before looking at Edna, "Can I use your bathroom?"

"Of course dearie, but what's wrong?" Edna questioned noticing the nerves that came over the young Luna's face.

"I think that I may be pregnant." Rory said.

"Kole, did the marriage mark." Georgia explained.

"Oh my goodness, that's such a blessing." Edna beamed. Rory nodded but not sure what to say but took the bag from Georgia and walked into the bathroom.

The three minute wait was torture. She was trying not to stare at the pregnancy test, and was grateful for Georgia as a distraction.

"OK, times up." Georgia said softly, noticing the paleness on her friends face. "Do you want me to look for you?"

"Yes please." Rory nodded, biting her nails in nerves. She looked at Georgia waiting the verdict.

"It's positive." Georgia whispered, looking at Rory looking for her reaction.

"Oh." Was all Rory was able to say before her eyes rolled back in her head, and everything went black.

"Rory, Rory." Georgia sweet voice echoed in her head. Rory slowly opened her eyes wincing at the pain in the back of her head.

"Careful, you hit your head when you fell." Edna said.

"Are you alright?" Georgia asked.

"Yeah. How long was I out?" Rory asked.

"Ten minutes, maybe a little more." Edna spoke. "I will go start some tea."

"I'm pregnant." Rory whispered more to herself. She wasn't sure what she was feeling at the moment, she was happy about having a baby. She could only dream about having a family when she was in Darren's pack never believing that it would happen. The only thing she was worried about was telling Kole.

"You don't have to worry about Kole, he will be so happy." Georgia said.

"Are you sure?" Rory asked.

"Of course, you are giving him a child. Planned or not, this is such a blessing for you both." Georgia said.

"Thanks." Rory smiled. "Please don't say anything to him, I want to be the one to tell him."

"I wont."

"Don't even tell Alex."

"I wont." Georgia beamed.

"I'm serious, don't spill the beans."

"Ok, ok. I promise." Georgia nodded.

Edna entered the room with cups of tea in her hand, and they began to talk about other things.

All too soon, there was a knock on the door and Edna let Blue inside. Rory shifted nervously and stood to great the girl.

"Thanks for coming." Rory smiled giving her a hug.

"No problem, I am so glad you decided to call me." Blue smiled.

"Let me set out some of the food and we can sit down and talk." Edna said grabbing the food.

"Is your mate coming?" Blue questioned looking around for Kole.

"He's supposed to be, he has a meeting so he will get here when he can." Rory explained, wishing more than anything that he was already there. As if wishes could come true there was a knock on the door and Georgia moved to let the person in. Rory smiled as Kole moved towards her taking his place at her side.

"Well I need to get back home, Alex is supposed to be taking me to lunch." Georgia spoke and gathered her things. "Let me know if you need anything." She said locking eyes with Rory.

"See you later." Kole said with a nod before he turned to the women that was supposedly holding all the answers for his little mate.

"Thank you for sticking around." He said.

"Of course." Blue nodded. Edna came back with the deli sandwiches and fruit on plates for each of them, Kole's plate holding four sandwiches instead of one like the others.

"Thank you Edna." He said.

"Now, what would you like to know?" Blue said after a moment of them eating.

"I guess how I ended up in a wolf pack." Rory said tensing up, her nerves taking over her thoughts.

"Of, course." Blue nodded. "Let me give you a little more detail about the Kingdom and that will lead into those answers."

Rory felt Kole take her hand as she nodded, ready for the answers she's been wanting since she was a little girl.

"The Kingdom, used to have more of presence in the world of Shifting. In the beginning of time, the Kingdom was made of Six Houses. Originating from North America; was the House of Bears, South America- Canines, Europe- Monkeys, Asia- Snakes, Africa- Feline, and Australia- Birds. Obviously there was no House from Antarctica as it is inhabitable for Humans. Within each house there are many species of the animal. Overtime, the Hunters were slayed down the shifters, as of now only three of the House are still in existence; the Wolves, Snakes and the Birds. The Kingdom Elders are in charge of monitoring all the houses and track who is mating with who and their lineage and there was only one family that were Foxes. Your parents; Nico Franklin, son of John and Gloria Franklin, and your mother Isabella, son of Henry and Fiona Barber, married young. Your mother was a full human so your parents relationship was a tad taboo but not forbidden. They married when your father was 20, your mom 17. They didn't have you until much later, your mother was 35 and father 38. You were only two when you were kidnapped by rouges who were working with Hunters. We don't know exactly how you ended up in Darren's pack and we didn't know that they had you until one of our scouts saw you in Kole's pack." Blue explained.

"So they didn't give me up?" Rory asked shocked.

"Of course not." Blue said.

"Where are my parents then?" Rory hesitated.

"Unfortunately they were killed by some Hunters and Rouges when they were looking for you..." Blue whispered, knowing how hard it would be for her to find out that her parents didn't abandoned her, but that they were also dead.

Kole reached over and put his hand on her back, gently rubbing it. He couldn't imagine how she felt finding out the truth about her parents, but also not being able to actually meet them.

"I'm sorry, I know that it's not what you would like to hear." Blue frowned.

"No, that's ok." Rory said, looking at her hands.

"I'm going to go make some more tea," Edna said quietly, "Blue, why don't you help me?"

"Sure." Blue nodded, understanding that she was called away to give Kole and Rory some time to themselves.

"Rory, are you sure you're alright?" Kole said kissing the side of her head.

"I suppose. It's not like I'm really losing out on anything, I didn't know them to begin with. I guess believing that they were terrible parents that abandoned me throughout my childhood and finding out that it wasn't the case, kind of puts me to ease." Rory explained.

The duo sat in silence for a while before Blue and Edna came back into the room laughing.

"I need to be heading back to the Elders' Mansion, but I am supposed to invite you to the annual ball. It's held in the first weekend in December, so it gives you a couple months to think about it. I will send the formal invitation when I get to the house, but look for it in the mail." Blue said.

"Thank you, and thank you for staying around to answer my questions." Rory said standing up to hug their guest goodbye.

"Of course, and you have my number so let me know if you need anything." Blue said hugging her in return.

Rory stood on Edna's porch, watching as Blue shifted into the Blue Jay and flew away. She rest her head against Kole's chest and thanked the Moon Goddess that at least she had him.

"I am going to go for a quick run." Rory said. "Just to clear my head."

"I have to get back to the meeting but we can finish it a different time if you want me to go with you?" Kole said.

"No, that's ok. I will be back in time for dinner." Rory shook her head, needing the time alone and also not wanting to take Kole away from another one of his duties.

Rory shifted and began to head into the woods. She made it to the edge of the stream, before shifting and letting the smooth movements of the water calm her thoughts. Rory didn't hear the footsteps until it was too late and her world went black.
