"He was flirting on the job!" Axton yells back at me.

"You didn't have to fire him!" I yell.

"Only because he was flirting!"

Axton fired a guy for flirting on the job. We were on our way to my apartment, after going to Crowne Plaza and ensuring everything was ready for tonight.

Axton's phone rings and he ignores it.

"Are you deaf?" I ask him and he rolls his eyes, his blue-greenish eyes. How can you be obsessed with someone's eyes Sophia?

"No, it's my dad. I don't feel like speaking to the world's shittiest dad at the moment." If there was a trophy, Denzell would probably be the face of it.

"And if it's important?" I ask him and he looks at me with a blank expression.

"Fine." he picks the phone up and answers it, coldly.

"Can I help you?"

I look out the window, watching the evening sky.

"Fuck no." Axton says and turn my attention to him.

He looks angry.

"Not happening." He says and it's killing me to not ask what he's talking about.

He hangs up the phone and I pretend I don't want to know.

"My dad wants Piper to come as my date to your party." Well, she is your future wife.

"That's a good idea." I mumble as my building comes into view.

"But-"

"You know, for someone who has been waiting years to propose," I use his own words, "You sure don't act like that." I try not to smile, I see him tense.

"Well, uh, look, paparazzi!" he says and I look out the window, sure enough there's a mob of paparazzi outside my building.

"Shit." I mumble, grabbing my purse, ready to face the mob.

"Come on, let's go." Axton says unbuckling his seatbelt.

"No, I can manage."

"Soph, I'm not letting you walk to your building alone, with a mob of fucking paparazzi, rushing after you."

"No, it's really fine."

"No, I'm going with-" his phone starts ringing.

"Take it,I can magane, see you tonight." I tell him, closing the door and walking into the building.

"Sophia, who was Axton on the phone with, in that picture?"

"Sophia, what do you have to say about your mom slapping your father in front of city hall?" I don't know buddy, that's news to me. I really have to give mom a call.

"Sophia, is Piper coming to your party tonight?"

"Trey's sister said, your break-up with him was mutual, is that true?" I'm so tired of these questions.

"Sophia, who are you wearing tonight?" Finally a question I can answer.

"I'll be wearing something from my own line." I smile at the camera.

"Mind telling us what you'll be wearing?"

"You're going to have to wait." I chuckle.

"Have a nice night, Sophia."

"You too! Be careful with the cars!" I tell the man, he was holding a camera and walking backwards on a busy as hell street.

I walk through the doors of my building, entering the fairly crowded lobby. I get into the elevator, thanking God that it was empty. I take my phone out, searching for mom's contact.

She answers on the third ring.

"Hi darling."

"Hey, supermom, heard you slapped dad?" I ask her laughing.

"Oh, yes, he was talking about how we ruined his life, more you than me, so I slapped some sense into his thick skull, I hope it worked." she laughs and I hear her heels click against the floor.

"Badass mom, how cool." I chuckle.

"Are you coming tonight?"

"Of course, I want to support you in any way I can." I can practically see her smile.

"Thank you mom, I'll see you tonight." I tell her, hanging up and walking out the elevator.

I unlock my door, walking into my dark apartment. I turn all the lights on, because that some how makes the ghosts I've convinced myself, lives here, go away.

I take my heels out and practically dive onto the couch, with my phone in my hand. I scroll through Instagram and Pinterest before I was rudely disturbed by a knock on my door.

"Ready Sophia?" I open the door to see Claire, my make-up artist. Being a model and a designer means attending events, and looking as good as I can. I hated the process. Sorry, I hate the process.

"Wow, you have a lot of flowers in there." she glances over at the many bouquets of flowers on my table.

"Alright, let's get this over with." she walks in and sets up her, workspace. She's been with me so long, I know what fuels her. I walk to my refriedegrator, taking out a bottle of red wine and grabbing to wine glasses.

"Okay, Hayley also sent your dress with me and-" she pauses when she sees the wine bottle in my hand.

"You know me so well Soph." I chuckle, sitting down as she begins her process of giving me back pain.

We catch up, since I haven't seen her in a while.

In about a hour she sends me to change into the dress I designed.

Only my staff and Myra has seen it.

The glamourous dress was gold, to fit the whole yellow summer theme, it was fitted in all the right places.

"You look hot as fuck!" she squeals and I laugh.

"If I didn't have a girlfriend I would definitely flirt with you." she says and I chuckle, grabbing my gold clutch and phone.

"Are you walking in alone?" she asks and I nod.

"Yes! We love a bad independent queen!"

"Go get dressed!" I tell her as my phone rings.

"Hi Jace what's up?"

"Is there a way I can enter your party without being seen?" he asks and I raise an eyebrow.

"What do you mean, without being seen?"

"Unnoticed by paparazzi, name off the list and out the pictures." We''re talking about the same boy that smiles for the paparazzi every time. He even poses now and then.

"Sure, I can get your name of the list, I'm sad you won't be in the pictures and well, it's Axton's hotel, you know your way through it." I tell him, still confused.

"Thanks, Soph, Kira isn't comfortable with the paparazzi." I smile thinking of how he's making these changes for her.

"Alright, see you soon!" I hang up and Claire walks out in a stunning black dress.

"You look stunning!" I tell her and she does a twirl.

"I have to pick up Alina, so see you at the party." She tells me.

"Alright, bye!" she walks out of the apartment and I follow her, taking the lights off.

As I walk out the glass doors, my security escorts me to the car, as a small, yet powerful mob of paparazzi attacks us.

"Sophia, dear you look wonderful," Marty tells me and I smile.

"Thank you." I smile. It doesn't take him long to pull up at the front of Crowne Plaza, where a lot, of paparazzi, attack us and other guests.

I get out of the car, as flashes of lights blind me. Everyone is yelling and the only thing keeping me sane is the cool breeze.

Then, out of nowhere.

I hear a gunshot.

I'm taken to the ground as strong arms push me, and pull me down. The only thing I recognize is a familiar scent.
