《Always Him.》𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑡𝑒𝑟 3

I pull the grey fluffy blanket over my body as I watch The Bachelorette. I took a break from the office today. I never do that but I just didn't feel like going at all. I choose to drown my sorrows in potato chips and chocolate. I haven't returned calls or messages. Just locked away in my apartment. Away from everyone. Sometimes you just need to be alone and not interact with people at all.
My phone starts ringing and I internally scream.
"Who the hell is calling me now?" I mutter grabbing it.
Axton's name flashes across the screen.
"Hey," I answer the call.
"Hey, Soph. You kind of been MIA today, everything okay?" I sigh
"Yeah, I'm fine. Did you need something?"
"Actually this evening there's a party at our place to announce my, um, engagement." He speaks and I frown.
"Um, Axton are you actually happy about this?" I ask, honestly scared of what his answer might be. I want him happy but I want him to myself. Shut up you jealous bitch.
"Yeah Yeah, I am." My heart clenches in my chest.
But he's my best friend and the right thing to do would be to go and support him. Even if it means seeing him with someone else.
"I'll be there." I sigh.
"Great Soph. See you."
"Bye." I hang up the phone.
So much for staying locked up in my apartment.
My phone vibrates and I see a text from Amyra.
Amyra: Dress shopping in 1o, get off your couch please, and thank you.
She knows me too well.
I walk into my room, just like my office my apartment is pretty damn nice. Not to brag or anything but I have good taste.
I moved out when I was twenty. My house was just too crowded to work in, with my eighteen at the time sister and seventeen at the time brother. I didn't get much peace to work in.
I walk into my closet and grabbed a white spaghetti strap top that I tucked into my light blue jeans. I threw over a loose knitted casual cardigan.

I took my hair out of the messy bun it had been in all day and brushed through my brown locks.
My phone was ringing, again. I rush to the living room, annoyed because why is everyone calling me?
Eleanor's name flashed across my screen. Why was Axton's mom calling me?
"Hi, Eleanor, what's up?" I wouldn't dare call her Mrs.McKay, she would lecture me for hours.
"Hi honey, I'm in a huge disaster. I need your help." She sounded really worried.
"What is it?"
"We need an event planner, our usual one is booked and so is every other one I know, the others aren't really top-notched and Piper refuses to have them plan the party this evening. I have an interview soon too."
"Mhm.." I wasn't sure where she was going with this..
"Remember when you planned Jace's parent's anniversary party, in less than two hours.?
Never mind, I knew exactly where she was going with this.
"Eleanor-"
"Sophia you're my only option." If being a designer didn't work out, event planning was right under modeling. I even took a course at an online university. I have a certificate and everything. But was I willing to plan an event that brought me pain? But it brings Axton happiness so why not? Not like it'll make Piper hate me or anything.
"Alright."
"Thank you so much, honey! See you soon."
I see a text from Amyra saying she was here.
I grab my stuff and walked into the elevator. Hitting the main floor. I pull my phone out making a few calls for the event.
"You look stressed what's wrong?" Amyra asks me as she pulls away from my building.
"Eleanor wants me to plan Axton's engagement party," I mumble as I search my contact list for a catering company.
"No way." she bursts out laughing.
"Myra stop laughing or I will jump out of this car." I glare at her while she tries to calm herself down.
"Come on it's funny, pretty awkward too." she giggles.
"We have to stop off at McKay mansion before going shopping." I raise my phone to my ear.

The rest of the ride was basically me making calls to get this party together, which was very difficult because the party was in four freaking hours.
We finally pulled up at the McKay mansion and the parking lot was filled with cars, usually, they have a lot of events, but there weren't this many people.
"Sophia!" I look up to see Axton's mom running down the staircase.
"Thank you so much, Linda, I'll have someone pick it up," I speak into my phone to the baker.
"Thank you for coming and helping." She hugs me.
"No problem." I look around to see people hanging gold streamers, black balloons, setting tables up, everything was looking good.
My eyes fall into gaze with a familiar pair of blue-green eyes. He stood there as his designer took his measurements.
He looked handsome as hell, hair devilishly pushed back. Eyes looking me head to toe. I gulp as he breaks eye contact.
This boy is going to be the death of me.
"Girl! I've been calling your name!" Amyra walks to me with a bottle of water.
"Come on drink some water, you've been on the phone since you stepped foot out your building."
I shake my head as my phone rings. The catering company.
"Hel-" The phone was pulled away from me, by no one other than Axton. My skin was on fire just by the simple contact.
"She's busy. She'll call you back." He says looking directly at me.
"Axton what are you doing?" I ask, but he pays no attention to me, he grabs the bottle of water from Amyra.
"Drink." he opens it and holds it out to me.
"Oh look, walls!" Amyra runs off. Traitor.
"I'm go-"
"I said, drink Soph." He says more sternly. I look at him and grab the bottle. I chug the water down, I was honestly pretty thirsty.
"Good girl." That sent chills down my spine. Moving on. Where's my phone?
"Axton, give me my phone back!"
"Not before you call Sophia Rivera Designs and request a suit for," he watches the watch on his left hand. I've been best friends with the guy since what? Five? I have never seen him a day without a watch. It's always on his left hand too, never on his right. It's one of the random details about him that I for no reason love.
"About three hours." he flashes me a smirk.
"You want my company to design your suit?" I ask smiling.
"Yes." he nods.
"Okay then." I laugh.
"Babe!" I hear an all too familiar voice.
"Oh hello, Sophia." Piper sends a fake smile my way.
"Piper." I nod.
"Babe we have to get going." she wraps her hand around Axton's arm and I swear someone kicks me in the stomach.
"But-" she drags him away.
"Disgusting." Amyra walks up to me wrapping her shoulder around me.
"Let them be." I sigh.
I turn to see them talking to his dad. He's smiling, it doesn't look real but he said he's happy so maybe I should stop thinking he's not.
"Dress shopping solves everything right?" I giggle walking out of the house with Amyra.
"Where is Axton?" I hear his designer yell in her thick French accent.
"Right here." he walks towards us, with Piper by his side.
"Great, I need one more measurement. Oh and, Sophia what color dress will you be attending in tonight?" She asks.
"Not sure, probably blue," I murmur, avoiding the daggers being thrown my way, courtesy of Piper.
"And a blue ty for Axton." she scribbles down. The smart part of me knew it was right to remind her that his ty shouldn't match my dress, but the dumb jealous side of me didn't want to. I eventually did.
"His ty should match Piper's dress, tonight and well basically every other night," I whisper the ending. His gaze meets mines and my heart breaks for what? The fifth time or something?
"Oh, it is true Axton. My apologies." she walks away.
His ties always match my dresses, even if we're not attending the event together. I frown at the thought of him matching his ty with someone else's dress.
"Let's get going, Sophia." Amyra pulls me away.
----
An hour later and we're walking out of Versace. Happy with our dresses, shoes, and the fact that the paparazzi was super polite.
The only thing left to survive is this party.
