Chapter 17

Nathaniel stood up from his booth, bringing out some dollar bills from his back pocket, slamming it on the table as he gestured to the waiter for the bill then walked out, tugging his tie.

He contemplated when he entered his car whether to call his maid and ask if his wife was awake or not but he chose the latter and drove off.

He checked his Patek Phillippe wristwatch and saw 1:04 glaring at him accusingly. He had wasted enough time today with different dramas. He connected his earpod with his phone, calling his PA to cancel all his schedule and fixed it at another time.

"Sir… Mr Jang's contract is still pending for approval" his PA stopped to gather his thoughts, "Today is the last day befo…."he interrupted him.

"Cancel all, I'm not available." he said dismissively.

"Okay sir" he could hear his PA's disapproval yet Nathaniel shrugged it off. It was his office, he could do anything he wanted at any time without anyone's approval. Well, Mr Jang wouldn't go because he knew the profit he would gain by working with his company.

"Sir…" the PA called hesitantly, which Nathaniel felt a wave of anger in him.

"What?!." he barked out, hating how his PA was dragging words after words.

"Your mother called earlier…".

"I understand" Nathaniel didn't let his poor PA finish his sentence, he could hear the nervousness and hesitation in his voice before he cut it off and hung up, throwing the earpod at the back seat.

He wasn't in the mood for his slowness, he just wanted to get home to see his wife and try to make a little conversation then stare at her beautiful oval shape face with her hourglass curve.

He stopped at a confectionery store which was down the road, buying different kinds of candy from caramel to chocolates to gummies and so on as an appeasement for leaving her today. And he hoped she could overlook today's incident.

Nathaniel drove in the opened gate, stopping at the entrance, igniting the car off as he calmed his breathing heart. He wasn't someone of strong belief yet he said a quick prayers underneath his breath for strength. He opened the car's door only to see his securitymen waiting for him to come down. One of them tried to collect the package from him while he didn't bulge to give it to him. He waved his hand dismissively, pointing to his drive to drive to go park the car as he stood regal on his suit.

He noticed the subtle changes in his security men but chose not to talk about as they stood nervously, gulping hard and their eyes on everywhere yet, not him. He rolled his eyes and walked languidly inside unannounced, shocking the maids who were rearranging the sitting room even one of the maids clumsily broke the flower vase.

The maids bowed their head, greeting their boss. Nathaniel looked around for any presence of his wife but found none. Maybe she's in the room, he thought before his gaze reached the maids and he grunted in response because it wasn't what mattered to him. Seeing his wife was his first priority.

He didn't say anything and left for his wife's room, upon getting there, it was empty. Faith followed him, carrying his briefcase for him as he clenched his fist on the package he held. Where can she be?.

Faith couldn't tell him that the person he was searching for had left an hour ago. She was scared, her boss was known to be hot tempered .

"Sir…."Faith's voice trembled as Nathaniel whipped his head back and scowled at her which made her gulp.

He walked down the stairs, three steps per one, when he got down, he went to the kitchen and found it empty also then to the terrace maybe she has been bewitched by the beauty of the flowers yet nothing.

"Where is my wife?!" he asked as his thundered voice sent chills round the maid's bodies as he walked predatory to where the maids were assembled. His eyes scanned the assembled and noticed Ester - his nanny was missing. He was scared - no, he was afraid. She too couldn't leave him. His heart thudding lub-dub-lub rhythmically in anxiety.

Has she left him?!, no - she can't. Having an inner battle with himself, cupping his palm into a fist as his vein was prominent while the skin turned white.

"Where is Ester?" he bit out, trying to control the emotions he was feeling. Less than twenty four hours he has gotten married, his wife has brought out a different swing of emotions in him ; lust, jealousy, envy and others.

"She is in t-he ro-om, ta-king her after-noon naaap af-ter her me-dication" a maid stuttered, beads of sweat rolling down her face.

"Okay" he grunted, taking a mental note to see her later.

"Where is my angel - Angelina?".

"She h-as went out…".

"She has what?!" he growled, throwing the candies he brought away in anger.

"Ye-ss" the maid said.

"When?".

"Around an hour ago".

"Where did she say she was going, what did she wear, how happy was she when she was going out, what was she doing before she left…" he had to stop himself from asking all the questions that were running through his head.

"After ange- ma'am woke up," the maid quickly corrected herself from calling her mistress by name when her mistress husband was around, "she was so excited," she exaggerated, "then cook a large meal of Italian meal and she served us" The maid stopped, nervously looking at her boss for reactions but when she didn't see, she continued, "She went upstairs to call you but…" She stopped, taking in a large breath. He was listening attentively as the maid was filling him with what his little wife did was shocked when the maid said she cooked and served them but his stomach knotted in guilty when the maid stopped because he understood. She cooked for him and he wasn't around. She was disappointed in him and he was ashamed of himself.

"Are there any leftovers?" he asked in a small voice, a tiny hope could be detected in his voice. He didn't care whether it was cold or not but as long as it was made by his wife, he could dive in it. And he couldn't wait to taste her food as his body lit up in delight.

They all nodded meekly before one of them voiced out, "yes" in a cooked voice.

"Okay" he smiled and went to the dining room for his meal. He uncuffed the cufflinks of his shirt and rolled the sleeves to his biceps, showing the inked colored design on his left hand. He rubbed his hand anticipatedly as faith served the spaghetti at his front.

He stared at the spaghetti for a long time yet just a fleeting moment before he scoped the spaghetti with his fork and down to his mouth. He closed his eyes when the succulent taste of the meal met his eager taste bud, he hummed in approval, shaking his head.

Woah, more scrumptious better than the five star chefs.

He forgot all the table manners while eating as he was making noise when eating and unconsciously moving his body. Very adorable. The maids were shocked to see their boss doing like a child given his favorite presence on festival day.

After he was through, he drank a gulped of water and went for his phone to call the bodyguard he assigned to her.

First ring, "Sir,".

"Where?" he asked in a clip tone.

"At the Cafe shop beside her college, ma'am is with Miss Belle" the bodyguard informed.

"Okay".

Sorry for the late update

Last week has been hectic, I'm sorry there wasn't an update - _-.

My updating schedule is once a week now because of college and life but if I'm less busy, I can make it double update in a week. I'm not promising that though 😅.

AN: I want you guys thoughts on this question, *sigh*. I'm conflicted, very conflicted on how to describe Nathaniel's character because in my book where I've written the manuscript of this book although, it's a very short story with maybe 28 chapters. I described Nathaniel as a dark lover in my written manuscript but with you guys now, I'm having second thoughts of changing him to cheesy, lovesick guy yet possessive though I've already changed him to that.

But our Angelina is an innocent kind lady, the opposite of me.

And I know you guys would be frustrated how this book is going in slow pace. I'm sorry and not sorry because all the books I've written are always at a fast pace. I want to make the book at a slow pace and I'm trying to work on my descriptive mechanism of writing.

And I need your criticism also, where do you think I should improve, and how do you see the pace of the book with the description?.

So do rate this book, from the blurb to the cover and the chapters.

Please, I need your honest thoughts, you are helping me improve.

Thank you sweetie *kisses*

So that's all the rant for now ^_^.
