《Intentions》Chapter 52

"You're lucky this was just one of the normal process that your body goes through in pregnancy, your uterus is adjusting, the ligaments are stretching and such so please avoid getting into a ton of stress because the baby's already growing and we wouldn't want to cause any difficulties in your pregnancy."
"I will keep that in mind. Thank you, Angela." I respond with relief while she smiled at me, making me comfortable from the first name basis that she insisted.
I feel like she is basically my angel, guarding me from my pregnancy.
"No worries darling, have a nice day." She said, ending our session.
"I will." I mutter and I stood to my feet, feeling optimistic.
I was basically walking on thread from all of the life-altering events that came to happen from the past several weeks in my life and there was no denying that it almost caused me to lose my relationship with Matheo, even wrecking myself and almost losing the baby. Now, I felt like the damage has done enough and I resist to even feel like a sore loser sulking anymore. I needed to be strong and at least try my best to make out of this problem with hope and a light out of the situation.
Which explains the reason why I came here today at the clinic, to see how my pregnancy's been going due from the belly ache that I felt last night. Theo insisted as well and though he couldn't come due to his own matters that he should prioritize, knowing he really wanted to join me and cancel his plans. I persisted that he should at least attend to it, considering they were important.
Going out of the clinic, my phone rang and speaking of, his caller ID flashed through the phone. He even sent me a text message that I wasn't aware of, making a mental note to read it later, I answered.
"Hey." I greeted, smiling while talking on the phone.
"Hey, babe. I figured, you must be done from your appointment? He asked.
"Yup, you're just on time for a phone call." I chirped while walking through the hallway.
"I see you." He said, then it put a stop in my tracks.
"What?" Speechless and with an excited feeling, my eyes started to search around the area until it landed on the hospital's entrance, and there he was. Right in front with a grin on his face and a small bouquet of flowers in his hand.
"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at the office?" I said in a surprised manner as a smile was tugging up on the corner of my mouth while I went outside, walking towards him.
"I wanted to surprise you actually." He responds, a playful smile etched on his face.
"Well congratulations mister, you very much did." I spoke showing great pleasure, embracing him into a hug while I could already feel the blush starting to creep its way on my cheeks.
"But wait, did you waited for like the whole time?" I asked out of curiosity, worried that I could have delayed his plans of him waiting out here for me.
"No, I just got here actually." He stated.
"You look beautiful by the way." He adds, placing a kiss on the top of my head and hands me the bouquet of flowers.
"Guess who's earning a lot of points, you just never fail to amaze me." I said with a giggle, brushing off my worries as I plant a quick kiss on his lips.

He genuinely smiles, laughing softly as he offers me a hand, delightedly reaching out for it as he guided me to his car.
"So what did she told you?" He questioned as he held a stern expression, concern in his voice.
"She told me it's a normal phase of my body going through pregnancy and as much as possible, stress should be out of the equation." I explained, a feeling of reassurance because my concerns have been answered.
"Thank God, you two are alright. That's some good news." He mutters and he gives me a tight-lipped smile, opening the car door for me as I climbed in.
While I noticed at the back that a couple of our bags were packed. Curious in all of a sudden, I asked.
"You went there?"
"Yeah, I was about to tell you this morning but I knew you were in the middle of your appointment so I just sent a message." He said.
Now that explains the text message, I wish I could have gone there as well. I thought.
"So how did it go? have you talked to them?" I asked, holding myself back to ask a lot of questions and not to overwhelm him.
"Just a quick visit and for me to get our things while the maids were still in. I didn't saw your mom but dad was around." He explained in a serious manner.
I swallow a lump in my throat, flashbacks of the argument came flooding my thoughts. "Did you two talk? Did he said something?"
He takes a deep breath a confused look in his expression and clearly he was in a thought as well.
"Just a small talk ... as expected he's disappointed and tells me that us, separating from the family is what's best for now. Said they need the time to heal, he even took me by surprise when he said he wishes us well ... then he just walked away, after that I left." He clearly explained.
"We live and we learn, don't we?" I said and a sad smile escaped my lips, seeing it as a hard time of how things have escalated so quickly.
"Yeah, you're right– but before that ... I have something to tell you." He responds.
"What is it?" I managed to ask, with an accelerated heart beat and an anxious feeling.
"I'm not part of the company anymore Cleo, I quit my job." He said.
"What? I–I don't understand." I stutter, leaving me astound as I could not comprehend what the fuck just happened.
"After the encounter, I went straight to the company and to the department and told them that I would like to leave." He stated seriously.
"Why? No, I .... just don't understand. Is this because of me? because I swear to God–"
"No, babygirl." He cuts me off short, cupping my cheeks and looking straight into my eyes.
"I want you to understand that this decision was never against my will. I did it to prove myself that I can do shit without the help of my father, I knew that I have to grow out of my comfort and I took this as a chance, I am more than willing to do so." He sternly asserted.
I flash him a small smile and nodded my head for response, coming to my sense as I refuse to cry and rather just show him my support all the way.
"I will never let anything happen to you Cleo, I promise." Our foreheads touched while he held my gaze and heat traveled through my body.

"And I want you to know that you will never run out of support because I am here– with you, always." I said with sincerity in every word.
Unable to hold back, he pressed his lips to mine, kissing me thoroughly. I loved the feeling, as K kissed him back with my tongue against his lips and the way how his lips touched, making me moan in satisfaction. He groans under his breath while his hands were pulling me into his body, hands that were needy. As I kissed him long and soft until we finally pulled ourselves apart, a playful smile on our faces for the sake of being in control and to avoid ourselves of doing one again in public, for the nth time.
A couple of months passed, our life was slowly coming back into place. Though we were still figuring things out; I was proud to say that we are consistently making progress. We both got ourselves a decent apartment to live in, Theo got a job at another growing real estate company outside California, I on the other hand was on the second trimester of my pregnancy and have plans to go back in college after the baby is born, I couldn't be more happier.
It somehow took the reality that my mother hasn't talked to me ever since, God knows I've been blowing up her phone with my numerous calls and I even tried to be at the company to reach out for her, but there was just none. Either the line went dead or she was not around, she was basically good at avoiding my presence. But the point is, I was starting to have thoughts that she might not be able to forgive me, let alone a reconciliation that I dream of.
But I am not a quitter.
Caught up in making a phone call on a fine Monday morning, I was persistent to make one and hopefully talk to my mother. But as expected, the phone kept ringing and ringing, as I was already close to frustration and defeat when the door opened, revealing Matheo with a wide smile on his face.
"Look who's early, is something's up? you look deceitful." I comment in a playful manner, and a habit I acquired for the last couple of months to ask if something was up due to the recent tough occurrences I've experienced in my life.
"I swear, this is good. Are you still calling your mom?" He responds, giving me a quick kiss on the lips and on my belly.
"Yup, and she still never answers." I sigh, forcing a smile.
"I'm sure she'll come around. Not a day goes by that I hope we could at least talk and make something out of our relationship as a family." He said, giving me the sense of comfort and encouraging me to do the best and just hope that something good will eventually come out.
"Yeah, I guess so." I replied, smiling for real this time and he flashes me a smile back, caressing my cheek on the process.
"Anyway, what do you wanted to tell me?" I asked attentively, lending an ear towards the topic. Amused as to how he had the time to come here knowing well he should be at his office.
"I need to run some errands like right now and it actually happens to be in San Diego. I just have to do a meeting and a quick evaluation towards the latest project of the company." He said, and it seemed like he trailed off, hesitant to say what's next.
"And? that's it?" I asked, having no trouble of calling Brenna to be my company later for the night.
"And ... you're coming with me, to San Diego and our flight leaves at 10:30." He blurted out, with his brows raised expecting for a bright answer.
While I was taken a back of what he just had told me. I find it a hard time to react nor even respond.
"And you never told me this for like the past few days or the night before this?"
Knowing how well, I hated packing and fixing a ton of our shit on a limited time and I was basically starting to feel this irrational pressure at the moment.
"Trust me babe, I had nothing to do with this. The plan was just on the spot, like in a flash." He stated, while it looked like he was holding back a laughter mentally making me question his motives as I see he might be up to no good.
"It better be!" I exclaimed, as I back away taking long strides towards our bedroom seeing that the time is, 8:30.
"Fingers crossed!" He responds a hint of mischief in his manner but making it seem like he was innocent.
I hastily packed a couple of bags and stuff that we'll mostly need, as he followed suit helping me do so. After 15 minutes we were packed and ready to go, wasting no time as we left the apartment, we head straight away to the airport.
The travel to San Diego was short, given that we took our transportation by air. Making some plans of what activities we could do for the day if he happens to be free of his schedules. Surprisingly, the company had given us a vehicle for privacy and convenience in our current stay in the city.
"Where are we off to?" I asked, as we got inside the car while he started the engine.
"To the site of the project, they wanted me to be there and see the proximity's potential in building a private residential." He replied as he started to drive, taking us both to the site.
To much of my surprise, the site was already in a gated community. Tree lined streets can be seen with good landscaping, houses stood in a continuous row and what felt like a great neighborhood. Some went about their daily business; unloading the groceries, taking their dog for a walk, the usual.
This was a breathe of fresh air, I liked it.
The car came to a stop, taking away the thought off as I turn around to acknowledge Theo who was already unstrapping his seat belts.
"Where's the site?" I asked, curious while I see no blank space in the neighborhood and he never mentioned any word that could best describe as to where we are at the moment.
"You'll see." He briefly replied while we took a walk for a second and when we finally turned to a corner, we were greeted by a house constructed into a bungalow type.
From that moment on, it struck me that maybe after all this whole thing wasn't even related to business, maybe it was—
"This is the site? it's constructed already?" Questions have clouded my brain, considering he just told me in our conversation that they were planning to build, though I might have misheard him but I was definitely confused.
In the midst of admiring the finished product, while thinking who's lucky family would get to live here. Theo casually puts his arms around my shoulders with a mischievous smile plastered on his face as he took a deep breathe, like he was about to say something.
"We're gonna live here."
And for sure when he spoke those words, I could not almost believe it as it left me speechless.
"We? like this is going to be our house?" I asked, while I was practically keeping myself cool because I was about to freak out.
"Absolutely, I got this on a good deal and the company was happy to give me the opportunity. I did not hesitate and so this was it." He said with a grin, because for sure he loves to surprise me with his plans and ideas.
I fucking knew it.
"So all along there was never a meeting or an evaluation to begin with? this was all a surprise for me?" I teasingly respond as I was already smiling from ear to ear.
"Yeah, and to make you cry like a baby." He comments while he chuckles, smiling broadly back at me.
With the most awkward squeal that came out of my mouth, I suddenly engulfed him in a hug. Taking him in surprise as I wrapped my arms around him tightly, with my eyes closed, feeling the moment as to how everything just felt good.
"Do you like it?" He asked, obviously playing around.
"Of course, you idiot." I respond, as we both erupted in laughter enjoying the moment.
"How about you roam around the house and see, I know you will like the interior." He said and my excitement peeked, I was eager to do so because I was fond of interior designing.
"Okay." I replied with a bright smile still on my face as I could not contain my happiness.
Starting to do a tour around the house, going through every part to see. The kitchen was the perfect size as it was enough for me to cook and do our dinner. The living room was lovely as the decorations were not too tacky and everything was placed right where they should be, making it look spacious and minimal. The bedroom was great, it comfy and simple like it should be. It made me want to live here in an instant, but unfortunately half of our stuff was still at Cali. I was excited, I felt like the house was made perfectly for the both of us as we start our own family.
Walking back towards Theo, as I went to the living room. He was still standing on the same place, waiting for me and an unreadable expression on his face as I couldn't help but chuckle, knowing he could just have taken a seat and make himself at home.
"Is there something wrong?" I asked while I approach him, just to make sure.
With no response, he lowered his for a second, a small smile on his face like he was thinking and he looked back up, staring at me intently and what left me shocked for good was the moment he got down on one knee.
He pulls out a small velvet ring box, as he opens it in the process and reveals a small shiny beautiful ring.
"Cleo Cohen, I kneel before you to profess my unconditional love as I have the privileged to know you. You're all that I want and when I see the future, I picture growing a family with you, growing old with you as I cherish you with love, protection and care as I keep you with me, forever."
My eyes widened, hands covering my mouth as I gaped from the sheer shock that came over my features. Trying to prevent myself from crying hysterically as I feel like I was about, while tears were already streaming down on my face.
"I love you, Cleo. More than words can ever express. I'd be honored if you give me the chance to spend my life with you. Will you marry me?" Telling the words with such truth and sincerity as I felt the rapid beating of my heart, surprised while the feeling of joy radiated throughout my body, for I was definitely happy as fuck.
Nodding my head for several times like an idiot, while I was crying like a baby. He was smiling genuinely, gazing at me with adoration and a look like he just won the ultimate prize.
I just already knew what to say.
"Yes! yes!"
I exclaimed the answer, agreeing with a full heart.
Because this was it, finally.
