People say before you die you see your whole life flash before your eyes or you're in so much pain you don't even know what's going on. For wolves I've come to know it's a lot more than that. It's seeing loved ones in slow flashes and it's reliving that last moment over and over. But, for me I wouldn't know for sure because, I never seemed to want to stay dead.

"Get out I've got it from here." I gasped deeply relishing in the new found oxygen filling my lungs.

I looked around in a panic, my vision was blurry and I could only make out blobs of faces and bodies. My ears were also ringing non stop.

"I'm right here." I shifted my gaze to the muffled noise until I felt the sparks on my face and the voice getting louder, "Love."

"Landon." I managed to say, reaching my hands up shakily to grab his in mine.

He grinned, his facial features visibly relaxing, "I thought we said no more dying on each other?" he breathed as his eyes were bloodshot red and his hair was disheveled.

"I'm sorry, this time I promise." I smiled through a light laugh of relief.

He brought my face towards his and kissed my lips with urgent need before wrapping his pinky around mine, "Promise?"

"Promise." I closed my eyes and leaned my forehead against his as I curled my pinky around his.

My heart was racing at the event that had just occurred and the harsh reality of how much Landon and I have endured. But, no matter what happened we always found our way back to each other. After another kiss my mind was quickly set on the idea of my pups. Landon sensed my worry and immediately moved from his spot on the side of me to reveal their tiny faces.

Mia cooed with nothing but, love in her tone.

I smiled as my hand covered my face in awe at how beautiful they were, "Paul says their healthy and doing well no signs of anything wrong." Landon whispered, "She has your eyes."

"And he has yours." I mumbled in pure awe at how beautiful they both were.

I watched Landon carefully pick him up in his arms and walk over to me. I hummed in pain at my sore body as I tried to sit myself up.

"Careful." Landon stated, catching my eyes with concern.

I smiled lightly, "I'm fine."

He then placed the tiny pup in my arms and I felt like crying when his hazel eyes met mine. He had smooth skin, a patch of black hair and light pink lips.

He was perfect.

Mia stated with laughter as she tried to memorize every feature on his little face.

I smiled at her claim and shifted my gaze to Landon who was focused on the babygirl in his arms. His orbs were mesmerized already filled with love as he gently stroked her cheek.

"She's so beautiful." he whispered, I smiled, "Her eyes are just like yours." he glanced to me, "Ruri." he mumbled, "It means emerald I've always thought that's what your eyes looked like."

I grinned at the name, "I love it."

"And.." he went on as he stared at her, "I already know how strong she's going to be just like you too." he looked up at me again upon his last words with a wink, "Verena...to fear and to respect." he finished.

I nodded my head with a smile while eyeing the little girl in his arms, "Ruri Verena Carter." I repeated all together and he grinned.

"You like that?" he questioned our little pup as he turned around to place Ruri in the small bed.

Landon then wheeled it closer to me and held his arms out to grab him from my arms eagerly. As I wanted to hold Ruri already I allowed him too. Once he was safely in Landon's strong arms, I reached over into the small carrier for Ruri.

"Now what should you be named huh?" he mumbled to him as I seen him smiling down at the small boy.

When Ruri was finally in my arms, my jaw dropped open at how much her eyes did reflect mine. They were stained with green and I was almost in shock as she gazed up at me. My eyes drifted to the small

patch of black hair she had. She was beautiful, I already knew that fact. Even when she started to let out high pitched cries.

I frowned not at all loving her red face, "I guess now we know who she likes more." Landon spoke up and I shifted my gaze to his playful smirk.

"Shut up." I grumbled, rolling my eyes jokingly as he chuckled and I looked back down at her crying face.

I'm sure she was hungry but, to substitute for a second I put the tip of my pinky between her lips. In an instant she quieted down and shut her eyes. I smiled at the simple action, glancing back up to Landon. He was admiring our pup as I thought of names for him. I already knew he'd be strong when

he grew up just like Landon, he'd have sense and be fierce.

"Jarek." I stated, eyeing the tiny pup, "It means strong and if he's anything like you that's what he'll be." Landon smiled at me as I went on, "And there's this word in a book I read once, Kalon." I glanced down at Ruri who was fast asleep.

"It means beauty that's on the inside as much as the outside and I know he'll get that from you too." I looked back up at Landon who was staring fondly at Jarek.

He nodded his head, "Jarek Kalon Carter, three first names I like it." he smiled.

"Actually...more like four, I want him to have your dads name as his middle name." I explained and his eyes instantly looked up at me.

"R-really?" he questioned, his eyes already filling up with unshed tears.

I nodded, "Of course." he sniffled looking back down at him.

"So, Jarek Kalon William Carter, he's going to love that when he gets older." he laughed a little and so did I.

"I love you." I stated, glancing over his features and he looked up from Jarek.

"I love you so much love." he walked over to me and leaned down, carefully with Jarek in his arms to place his lips to mine.

They connected in one of the most sweetest kisses ever. It was soft and brought me comfort and so much happiness that I felt my eyes water. When he pulled away he kissed my cheek softly before standing up straighter. He sat in the chair next to the bed and stroked the black patch of hair on Jarek's head.

Now as I sat holding my little pup in my arms who was perfectly healthy. And my mate, my fiancé, sat next to me with our boy who was also healthy. I couldn't be more happier. A part of me though knew something was missing and that was our third pup who was watching above. Who I knew would have been so beautiful.

A knock was heard at the door and I looked over at Landon. He got up, placing Jarek in the small bed gently before going over to the door. When he opened it I seen it was Jacob, Genevieve, Dawn and Audrey. He opened it wider to let them in and they walked in with smiles on their faces. Dawn ran quickly into the room, hugging Landon around his legs first.

"Hi unc." she said aloud and I laughed while Jacob came over to me, his eyes landing on Ruri as Audrey hugged Landon.

"Hey Cars." he smiled, leaning down to kiss my head.

"Congratulations." Genevieve announced and I smiled, mumbling a thank you as Audrey came over to me.

"Oh come here." Jacob had made some room for Audrey to lean over and embrace me, "I am so proud of you." she whispered in my ear which made my eyes well up once again.

Her coconut scent was filling my senses and her comforting ways made me feel soft, "Thank you." I sniffled, basking in her words.

When she pulled away she looked down at Ruri in my arms, "And who is this?" she asked with glossed over eyes.

"This is Ruri Verena Carter." I leaned over to hand her over to her as she woke up upon movement and Audrey eagerly took her with a grin on her face.

Dawn suddenly scared me when she climbed up onto the end of the bed, "Hi aut lay." I smiled.

"Hi sweet girl." she crawled over into my arms to give me a hug and I hugged her back.

She then sat back, looking over at Ruri in Audrey's arms, "She's so beautiful, she's got the infamous green eyes." Jacob stated, smiling down at her and Genevieve eyed her with awe as well.

"She looks just like you Layla." she inputted and that made me so happy as Audrey agreed.

I looked at Landon to see he had picked Jarek back up catching Jacob's attention. He held out his arms invitingly and he made his way around the bed. Before he carefully placed him in his arms and Dawn sat up on the bed to get a good look at him.

"Hi." Genevieve cooed happily once Jacob had Jarek securely in his arms, "Aren't you so handsome."

"This is Jarek Kalon William Carter." Landon introduced with a proud smile on his face while he looked at our pup.

Audrey had looked up from Ruri once she heard the name, meeting Landon's eyes with somber in them. But, then she smiled and a single tear fell down her cheek as she shifted her gaze to Jarek. He was staring up at Jacob looking snug in his baby blue blanket.

"I am so happy for you guys." she stated, "Their perfect and William would be so happy for you both." she smiled tightly and looked over to Landon who was nodding his head with a sad smile.

"Thank you mom." I grabbed his hand tugging him closer to the bed, closer to me.

Landon met my eyes and held my hand in his, bringing it up to his lips to kiss. I felt my face redden at the simple action. Once again though there was a knock at the door and Landon left my side to get it. It was Zach and his mate Olivia. Zach hugged Landon upon seeing him and he hugged him back.

It was nice to see them so close again. When he came in Olivia smiled at me and I smiled back.

"Congratulations." she stated, as Zach came over to give me a hug.

"Thank you." I replied back, returning his embrace and he pulled away after a second.

"Yeah congratulashions." Dawn yelled, clapping her hands together, the mispronounced word causing all of us to laugh.

Though as much as this moment was super important and so amazing. I couldn't help but, feel myself want to drift off to sleep. My body ached and I felt a bit of sadness consuming me. It was the same feeling as earlier, the part of me that knew something was missing. It was our pup, he should be here.

I glanced around the room, first at Jacob who was easily fascinated by the pups. Genevieve was as well as she brushed against Jarek's hair. Audrey had moved to stand closer to them so that they could all see the pups better. Zach had made his way over and instantly grinned upon seeing their faces. They all had happy smiles on as they cooed over them which made me grateful to have such a loving family.

Landon though must have felt how I was feeling through the mate bond and started to clear everyone out after a few minutes. I smiled sleepily at him as everyone told me goodbye. Audrey had helped place them in their small bed before giving Landon and I one last hug and leaving. Jacob as well as Genevieve gave me a long hug as well, telling me just how proud they were of me.

Once everyone had finally left and it was just Landon and I, I finally realized something. Our pup we lost didn't have a name.

"Caelum Lacuna Carter." I whispered sleepily.

"What?" Landon questioned, his fingers brushing away some hair from my face.

"Their other words I've read in a book once." I explained, meeting his eyes as he sat in the chair next to the bed, "Caelum means heaven and Lacuna means a missing part." his eyebrows drew together, "It's for our pup who didn't make it." I smiled to myself, "He's our missing part." Landon smiles sadly.

"And I'm sure that Caelum loves you very much Layla." he stated, as I felt my eyes shutting and my mind start to drift into darkness.

"He loves you too Landon."
