《The Runt & The Alpha》Chapter 66- Storm.

Five months later.
In all of the time Layla and I have spent together, all of the mornings we've woken up next to each other. I will never get over how beautiful she looks when she's sleeping. Or just how beautiful in general she is especially carrying our pups. Her belly had grown more and it was now obvious she was very much pregnant considering her size. But, she carried it so well, so perfect if anything she was glowing more.
"Landon." she mumbled sleepily, pushing herself more into my chest.
I smiled and placed my hand on the back of her head to stroke her hair. She's been extra clingy, always wanting me near her and I didn't mind it not one bit. I found it cute that she wanted me around all of the time. We've been going to her appointments for the pregnancy and ultrasounds regularly. She was expected to have three pups.
When we first heard I was scared for her because, of her size. But, Paul had said it was normal for she wolves to have many pups during there first pregnancy. It didn't stop me from being worried about her though. She was so tiny and she was carrying not one but, three pups inside of her. It had already caused her to have body aches, especially in her back.
Every time I asked if she was okay she was adamant on assuring me she was fine. She was so happy about getting to meet them and I was on board with her as well. We had been to numerous shops in town to pick out clothes and she was still wanting more. I also got to work on the room for the pups, it used to be my moms room but, was always meant for the pups. Layla and I both have been making it into the best possible nursery we could.
She groaned beside me, turning around on her back before sitting up, "Are you okay?" I rubbed small soothing circles into her back.
"My back just hurts." she mumbled and I continued to massage her back while eyeing her beautifully messy hair, "Thank you." I smiled at her small morning voice.
I couldn't believe she was my fiancé soon to be wife, she had drilled me about how she didn't want to get married during her pregnancy. She was set on the fact that she'd look bad in her wedding dress with a big belly. Although Jake and I hated the thought of waiting, we would wait for her. No matter if I think she'd absolutely look stunning with or without the belly.
"I'm hungry." she turned back to look at me with a smile on her lips.
"Yeah?" I questioned, already knowing what she wanted.
She wanted her pickles with Nutella that have quickly became her go to breakfast, "I'm just going to go to the restroom." I got up before her to walk around and help her up.

Her hand slipped into mine for support as she got off the bed and she smiled at me, "I'll go get your breakfast." I laughed, pecking her pouty lips before heading for the door.
I walked downstairs in a bit of a hurry not wanting to leave her by herself for too long. I opened the cabinets to grab the Nutella jar and placed it on the counter. Before opening up the fridge to get the pickle jar out. I grabbed a plate, placing two of the pickles onto it and putting the jar back into the fridge. Then I grabbed the plate and Nutella, taking it up back to our room.
When I did she was already back in bed, her excited green eyes finding mine, "Gimme gimme." she made grabby hands at the disgusting combination that she seemed to love.
I could only shake my head and place the plate as well as the Nutella jar in front of her. She began taking the lid off to dip the pickle into it. Ever since the first time I seen her eating it, I still cringed. Yet, I couldn't help but, to admire how stunningly happy she was over the food. Which is why every morning I loved to give it to her.
"Can we go shopping again today?" she asked, chocolate on her lips.
I leaned forward, kissing her lips softly making sure to get the chocolate before pulling away, "Yes we can."
Her cheeks were red, "Okay."
How did I become so lucky as to get such an incredible mate that's going to be my wife.
"This is so cute Landon." she smiled, bouncing on her toes as she held up the little pink onesie that said 'Princess', I smiled at how happy she was, "Look they even have one for boys." she held up a baby blue one that said 'Prince.'
"Do you want them?" I asked and she nodded her head eagerly.
"Please." she pouted, which I was a total sucker for and I nodded my head, "Yay." she threw her arms around my neck and kissed my lips, "I love you."
"You love me or the baby clothes?" I questioned with humor lining my voice, she smiled.
"Definitely the baby clothes." she moved away and turned around to look at the table of clothes, "I mean look at them there so tiny and cute." she cooed while I mentally cooed at her.
We continued to look around the whole mall, buying clothes that were for boys and girls. Since she was having two boys and a girl. I was ecstatic that she was having two boys while Layla was excited about having a girl. But, in the end we both just wanted them to be healthy.
"Look at this." I called over Layla to the shoes for babies, "They have little combat boots." I waved the tiny shoe in my hand and a grin spread onto her face.

Jake was already thinking what I was.
"You should get them, there cute." she grabbed a box that were for newborns and gave them to me.
Soon Layla's feet were starting to hurt her as well as her back so we had to cut our shopping trip short. I helped her in the car and began the drive back to the pack grounds. She had fallen asleep, while I rubbed her thigh up and down. Until I moved my hand to her belly, a smile instantly growing onto my face. I was so anxious to meet them, I wondered what they'd look like, how they'd act.
I wondered so many things but, what sucked was I had to wait four more months.
The new pack house would finally be done in the next couple days and be ready for new members. It turns out my story of dying and being brought back by the moon goddess had traveled far. Which earned the Blood Moon pack tons of recognition and new wolves wanting to join. It was a good thing I allowed them because, Zach finally found his mate. Now he'd stop drooling over mine, just the thought made me growl.
"Hey what's wrong?" Layla grabbed my hand and caressed it, I just shook my head.
"Just thinking." I smiled tightly when my eyes zeroed in on Zach.
We were at Genevieve's pregnancy announcement at her house and she invited anyone who wanted to come. Zach was with his mate who was a nice girl that seemed a lot like him. It was fairly awkward when we first met her. But, Layla being Layla though was such a sweetheart to her and made the whole situation a little less awkward.
"He has a mate now, you shouldn't still be jealous." she spoke and I pulled her towards me suddenly, kissing her lips in a possessive manner.
"There's no reason to be jealous if you're mine." I whispered against her lips, she smiled, clutching my shirt in her hand.
An awkward cough sounded and she pulled away to meet Genevieve's eyes. They laughed, instantly going into conversation, leaving me out. Jacob walked over as well.
"They always do this." he stated, shaking his head with a frown.
I nodded, "Right and they say we love each other." I rolled my eyes at how genuinely fascinated they seemed with one another.
"You look so beautiful." Genevieve awed at Layla, brushing some hair from her shoulder, "I love your hair."
"I love yours." Layla replied, eyeing Genevieve's brown curly hair.
Jake grumbled.
"Okay." I stepped forward, grabbing Layla's hands in mine, "Hey Genevieve." I smiled as Layla frowned at me and Jacob came to get his mate.
"Hi Cars." Jacob smiled and so did Layla as she let herself be wrapped up in my arms.
"Congratulations." she stated, I put my head on her shoulder and placed my hands on either side of her belly.
"Thank you." Jacob replied as Dawn came running over to us.
"Why does baby get gifts, I don't." she crossed her arms with a firm defiant look on her small face.
It made all of us smile especially her parents before Genevieve picked her up, "Would you rather they get nothing and share your stuff?" she questioned.
She instantly shook her head no with wide eyes, then she hid her face in Genevieve's shoulder. We laughed and Layla turned around in my arms. Her smile was as vibrant as ever pulling at numerous strings of my heart.
"I can't wait to have the pups already." she cupped my face and I leaned into her touch.
"Me either." I smiled, tightening my hold around her waist.
She kissed my lips slowly and softly before pulling away, leaving me wanting much more.
Eventually the party had come to an end and we bid goodbye. Layla and I walked home hand in hand peacefully enjoying the moonlight. Once we made it home she had changed into some pajamas and I got into some sweats. When we finally laid down she grabbed my hand to place against her belly.
"They've been kicking all day, feel." she smiled while I ran my hand along her bump.
My eyes grew wide when I felt a light pushing against my palm. A smile grew on my lips when it happened again.
"That's amazing." I whispered, glancing up to Layla to see her eyes were shut already.
I kissed her belly gently before pulling her shirt down and leaning up to peck her lips. Then I turned off our lights and rolled back over to tuck the blankets over Layla and I. She buried herself into my body and I hugged her, falling asleep with a smile on my face.
My eyes squinted into the darkness when I heard loud whimpering. I rubbed at the sleep in my eyes and got up, figuring it was Layla's morning sickness as she wasn't beside me. As I grew closer to the shut bathroom door, I felt how panicked she was through the mate bond. That feeling instantly woke me up and I went to turn the knob but, the door was locked.
"Layla, love open the door for me." I urged, starting to feel Jake also become anxious.
"I'm so sorry Landon."
