《The Runt & The Alpha》Chapter 43- The Luna.

It was so nice to watch the sunset with Landon, it was a very sweet moment. And I had it engraved in my heart forever. I'd never have thought that I would ever be this happy. But, I am and I'm enjoying every second of it. Being with Landon makes me so incredibly happy.
Especially knowing he loves me.
I love that all I had to worry about was what I was going to eat for breakfast. Instead of who was going to hit me first. The guys were nothing to me now, only a big obstacle that I over came.
"Layla." he called into the mind link with his deep voice.
"Yeah?" I questioned watching the bright orange sun sink behind the river.
"I want you to be my Luna and I want to have a proper ceremony with you." he stated and my heart stopped.
I haven't even thought about being Luna in a while other than my original thoughts. How I didn't deserve it or want it. But, now that's all changed since I've been spending time with Landon. I did want it and I've come so far, I felt like I've grown a lot. And it was all thanks to Landon and myself.
"Okay." I whispered.
"So, you want me to help you get ready?" Genevieve asked warily.
I didn't know exactly what I was supposed to be wearing for this sorta thing. Last night Landon and I went home and went to bed after we discussed the ceremony. Which will be held today, I was so anxious because, it was so soon. And I didn't have anything to wear.
"Yeah, your the only friend I have and I don't exactly have the best wardrobe." I muttered feeling heat rise to my cheeks.
She smiled softly, "I got you, I just can't believe this."
"Believe what?" I questioned, confusion clear in my voice.
"That you're my luna and you're exactly what a luna should be, you're strong and I know what you went through to get you here really sucked but, you did it you're here." she told me with such emotion in her tone that I couldn't help but, feel grateful.
"Thank you, you're here too." she smiled, just as Dawn came running into the room.
"Mommy, mommy!" she yelled accidentally bumping into me, "Oof, I sowy." she mumbled timidly looking down.
I smiled, "That's alright."
Genevieve picked her daughter up and stared at her with such affection, "What is it?" she asked.
"Daddy's here!" she shouted and Genevieve's smile grew bigger.
Just as a guy with black hair emerged from the door, my eyebrows drew together as I locked eyes with his green ones. There was something oddly familiar about him but, I couldn't pinpoint what.
He looked to Genevieve and kissed her lips, "Hey, I missed you." he then gave Dawn a kiss on the cheek, "You too princess." she giggled.

"I missed you." Genevieve said then locked eyes with me, "This is the luna, Layla I don't think you guys have ever even crossed paths and Layla this is Jacob my mate." she introduced and his eyes flickered to me.
"It's nice to meet you." he put his hand out for me to shake and I reluctantly took it with a smile.
"It's nice to meet you as well." I said.
I've definitely never seen him around before, "I'm actually helping Layla with something could you watch her?" Genevieve asked, handing Dawn over to Jacobs open arms.
"Of course." he tickled her stomach while walking outside with her, "By the way what happened to the door, wasn't it darker."
"Long story."
She looked to me with a knowing look and I smiled sheepishly. Earlier today Landon sent some people over to install her a freshly new door.
"Okay let's get started yeah?"
"Wow." she muttered, with astonishment in her brown eyes.
"What?" I inwardly panicked at how I looked, "Is it too much, I look stupid don't I?"
I knew this was a bad idea, Mia exclaimed.
"What, no luna quite the opposite see for yourself." she told me, with a grin on her face.
For once I couldn't see disgust anywhere on her face like I'd usually see on other faces. I just don't think I'd ever get used to actually realizing. People in my life right now, actually care about me.
A bit of my anxiety washed away and I turned around to look myself in the body length mirror. My mouth dropped open slightly. The girl who looked back at me was not one I'd have liked months ago. I seen my eyes were brighter than ever. No black and blue coated my skin, but, instead a light tan complexion.
Accompanied with my long black hair that Genevieve had put in light waves. She didn't put makeup on me just curled my eyelashes. The white dress I wore went well with me and it definitely brought out the green in my eyes. With them she gave me white flats.
I look beautiful.
(Outfit in the end of chapt.)
As I walked back to the house I held my head high, hoping to wash down my anxiety. People had glanced at me with smiles and I smiled back, thinking about how I'm going to see Landon. Even if I had to wait for a bit, because, he did say he had something to take care of for the pack. I didn't question him since I didn't want to pry.
"Layla." I turned around and met eyes with Audrey, which made me smile.
I hadn't seen her in a couple days which now made me feel a bit guilty. So I obviously stopped to talk with her. She looked like she was glowing and her smile could wash away any anxiety I once had.

"Well where's my hug?" she said with playfulness in her tone.
I laughed a bit and I was brought into her open arms. Her scent of coconut feeling my nose.
"You look absolutely beautiful." she held my face in her hands.
"Thank you, so do you." I replied grabbing her hands to hold in mine.
She smiled, "I actually wanted to speak to you and tell you thank you."
"For what?" I tilted my head in confusion.
"I'm sure you noticed how I was sick but, ever since you came into our lives I've gotten better I feel stronger." I stared intently taking in her words, "More alive and I didn't think I'd ever feel like this again and I'm sure it has a lot to do with you and how I know you'll make my son happy and be a great luna to this pack." My heart warmed and I couldn't believe the words she was saying.
I pulled her into another hug, "I'm glad you're better, I really am, you deserve it." she hugged me tightly.
After I pulled away I smiled thankfully at her, "And your son makes me happy."
"Layla, I'm ho-" he stopped mid sentence when he seen me.
I was glancing at myself in the mirror overthinking but, I kept reassuring myself. I turned to him slowly his eyes scanning my body agonizingly slow. His lips parted in shock and I felt my heart speed up.
"Too much?" I mumbled looking down at the dress.
His finger hooked underneath my chin to lift my head. Our eyes locked and his deep brown ones washed over in love, amazement and a bit of lust.
"You look perfect my love." he leaned down pressing his lips against mine softly and slowly.
This one was gentle and nice, he pulled away and all my nerves were gone, "Genevieve let me have it she said she never wore it anyways." I explained and he cupped my face.
"Well you look so gorgeous." he kissed my lips more rough this time making me smile into the kiss, "Like." he breathed in deeply and grabbed my hand to make me spin around, "Damn." he muttered and kissed my lips again harder.
I giggled, my cheeks stained red from blushing, "God, you look so beautiful baby." he pecked my lips multiple times, before kissing my cheeks.
"Landon." I laughed, hiding my face in his chest.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I just can't help it." he eyed me again with a glint in his eye.
Then he attacked me with kisses on my jawline leading down my neck. Where he sucked on the soft skin to leave little marks. Before he kissed my mark making a shiver run through me. I moaned softly, right into his ear.
He hummed and hesitantly took a step back so he wasn't touching me, "You are so sexy but, if I don't stop will be late for your own ceremony." he winked at me which made my cheeks flush.
I smiled and got the courage to kiss his cheek before leaving him in the bathroom. Once I almost successfully left he tugged my wrist back, making me turn around. Allowing me to fall right into his arms, his hands threading into my hair to mold his lips with mine.
"Just mesmerizing." he mumbled against my lips, glancing all over my face.
Before letting me leave with the biggest grin on my face.
"Do you Audrey Carter hand over your position as luna to my mate?" Landon asked Audrey who smiled while nodding her head.
"She deserves it." she replied and I looked to Landon.
"Then it's my pleasure and honor to introduce to you all my mate and your new luna Layla Anderson." I smiled up at him as the nerves knotted in my stomach.
The whole pack was here and that alone had my anxiety shooting high. These same people who either didn't help me or didn't even know. They were right in front of me and I was one of their leaders. But, none of that in the past mattered now. What good would it do to hold onto that time in my life that was so terrible.
Rather then move forward and just live my life.
People clapped and I seen Donna and Sara's faces in the crowd. Sara glared at me which Mia made me return. While Donna on the other hand she actually had a genuine smile on her face, clapping along with everyone else. Genevieve though was clapping the loudest with the biggest smile on her face. Her mate stared at me with such a weird look though but, I just brushed it off.
When I looked to Dawn she was waving at me with her little smile. My eyes met Zach's who also had a grin on his face and he hollered a bit. Come to think of it, I felt a bit bad for never thanking him for that sandwich. And for just telling me he's there for me, last but, never least though.
Landon, he looked at me with such a bright smile, his perfectly straight teeth on view. Showcasing his show stopping grin. He looked really handsome in his black button up and dark blue jeans. His arms wrapped around my waist to bring me into him. Our noses touching as I held his face in my hands, comfortably.
"I love you." he stated, brushing his lips against mine.
I caressed his cheek standing on my tippy toes slightly, eager to kiss him, "And, I love you." I stated, leaning up more while he leaned down.
Our lips finally connecting in an eager slow but, very passionate kiss.
Yeah, I really really love him.
