'I know how to open a door.' I replied to Mia rolling my eyes.

It was just the fact that I was a bit scared, I haven't interacted with the pack for years. Mostly because, I was locked away in my room. Then there's the obvious reason, they never helped me. None of them with the exception of that one girl three years ago who tried to defend me. I often did wonder where she was at, whatever happened to her.

But, this morning when Landon told me he was going to work and that I'd be left here. It was like a brick hit me in the face, I've been with Landon for so long. That I guess I didn't think about going a day without him. Yet here I am in front of the front door trying to get the guts to just go outside. Where would I even go though.

I for once had the chance to go outside with no fear of the guys or anyone being just around the corner.

Mia encouraged.

I took a deep breath in before opening the door, allowing the cool wind to hit my face. Then I walked outside, shutting the door behind me. I can't believe I'm doing this, I walked through the trail and into the pack grounds. My hands balled into fists at my sides, at the sight of people.

There were people walking around heading to their destinations. And kids running around playing with one another, happy smiles on their faces. I walked further into the view of everyone and as I didn't want. Some people looked at me, stopping what they were doing. Their looks would consist of shock, pity, and some even wore smiles.

And most of their looks I couldn't even decipher, but, not one of them showed disgust like I originally thought. I was quite anxious having everyone look at me. But, I tried to keep my head held high and just walk. Where to I had absolutely no idea, but, I think I had one idea. The side walk I was on led straight into the woods.

To a clearing of a pond somewhere my mother and father used to bring me. I haven't thought about them lately and it was a surprise to me. But, honestly for once I didn't miss them, they left me and I'm just starting to accept that.

"Layla." I jumped at the sound of the voice before turning around to see Donna.

I swallowed harshly feeling my nerves kick in, "Yes?" I replied trying to keep my voice normal.

As I looked her over, she looked terrible she had dark bags under her eyes. And her hair looked as if she hadn't washed it in days. Her clothes were wrinkled and wait, are those pajamas?

"So, um." she was fiddling nervously with her hands looking everywhere but, my eyes, "I-I." she sighed, "I heard..eh everyone was saying you were o-outside and so I came to find you." her eyes looked red and she looked overall tired.

Then suddenly I wasn't scared anymore because, right now she didn't hold such a confident composure as she usually did. She didn't look so spiteful and mean, she looked hurt and deprived. Something in me felt bad for her and I know I shouldn't but, it was like an instinct.

"What for?" I asked.

"I-" her eyes alarmingly went up to mine, "I miss Brad, I can't eat, I can't sleep and all I can think about is him and how he's down there with no one." I raised my eyebrows about to talk, "Wait, let me finish please." I bit my lip and nodded, "While thinking about him, I also thought about why he's in there, how he hurt you, how I hurt you."

Images of how she treated me came into mind, "Okay, I think I know where this is going." I muttered, she's probably just saying this to get Brad back.

She took a step forward and I on instinct took one back, her eyes widen, "Sorry, I mean, no you don't understand I-" she sighed in a conflicted manner, squeezing her eyes shut, "What I'm trying to say is that I'm sorry, I really am and it's not because, Brad is in the cells or that I'm hurting it's because, what I did to you..it wasn't okay and I know that now." she opened her eyes and I was shocked to see tears stream down her cheeks, "I'm sorry Layla."

I was awestruck, not once have I ever imagined an apology from her. Now here she was apologizing to me looking so mournful. My mouth went dry and I didn't even know what to say.

But, a couple words, "I forgive you, Donna and thank you for the apology." I said softly, and she nodded her head.

Then I made my way past her without so much as a second glance back. My heart was pounding in my chest and I felt good. I smiled a bit because, everything had turned around for me. Everything was better for me now. And I couldn't be more grateful for that.

While walking, I passed the pack house and some heads turned my way. But, they didn't linger like others. Some people didn't even look at me for more than a second.

As I continued to walk I heard a cry, it sounded like a little kid. I followed the noise on instinct and in my view came a little girl. She had short black hair that was in a bob cut reminding me of someone, with brown eyes. Her back was up against a tree while her hands held her bloody knee. The pink dress she wore looked dirty and tears streamed down her cheeks.

My foot stepped on a twig making a snapping sound and she looked up, "Hey." I said softly, eyeing the scrape on her knee with dried up blood around it.

"Helwo." she hiccuped, watching me curiously as if to see if she can trust me.

It was obvious she felt she could since she allowed me to get closer and kneel in front of her, "What happened?" I asked.

"I run an then fall." she started to cry again and as if instinct I stood up and picked her up.

She wrapped her legs around my torso and her arms around my neck, "It's alright what's your name?" I replied softly, rubbing her back.

"Dawn." she muttered, her cries dying down, I have no idea why or how but, I could feel that she felt safe in my arms.

"It's nice to meet you Dawn I'm Layla." I replied gently once again, turning around to start walking.

"Uh huh, mom tell me." she spoke softly.

My eyebrows drew together in confusion, "What?"

"Mama says you're luna." her reply shocked me a bit.

Who was her mom?

Mia spoke pretty proudly, and I just shook my head.

"Oh well, could I know where your mom lives, so I can take you to her?" I questioned, stopping for a bit to wait for her response.

"Big yellow house." her voice sounded so tiny and innocent reminding me of when I was younger.

That girl was long gone.

When she said this I didn't really know where it was but, it was a yellow house. It couldn't be so hard to find. And it wasn't, it was a bit away from the main pack grounds but, I found it. I walked up the bit of steps and knocked on the door.

Once it opened my eyes widen to the size of saucers, "Layla?" she said, disbelief lining her tone.

"Y-yeah."
