My wolf cooed, as he stared at Layla's sleeping face.

I couldn't help but, agree her black hair made her pale complexion stand out more. Only managing to make her emerald like eyes shine. Gently lifting my hand to her face my forefinger outlined her jaw, just itching to touch her lips. Only just imagining how addicting her lips must be if her scent is extraordinary. Not to mention how short she was and tiny only making me more protective of her.

When she first woke up I was in awe at how shy she seemed to be not to mention scared. Once she told me about Steven I lost it, it makes me sick to think this happened right under my nose. Especially the thing with Brad, he has no idea what I have planned for him.

I know there's more of what's going on here I can feel it and I'm going to do everything in my power to find out every last detail. Layla's holding back but, she doesn't have to I need her to know it's alright and I will do anything to protect her. Moving onto other things, her scars, it pained me to see them. This was the main reason why I needed to get down to what was really going on here.

Was she hurting that much, she needed to hurt herself?

Soon I felt her stir by me, her eyes fluttering open allowing me to see her beautiful colored eyes, "Good morning." I whispered, moving some hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.

"Um...good morning." her voice was quite and sounded small in a way I didn't like.

"How was your sleep?" I questioned, searching her eyes that never left mine.

"It was good." her voice was still quite which was unsettling in a way.

How could I help her if I didn't know what was going on?

"We need to talk today." I stated, deciding to dismiss the way she was acting for now while I sat up in the bed.

"About wh-" she hissed in pain making my head snap to her so fast.

"Fuck, Layla be more careful." I said, out of worry she might hurt her ribs more than they already are which made my jaw clench.

As I went to help her sit up she flinched hard making me instantly regret cursing at her. The air was silent and she slowly looked down.

"I-I'm sorry." she breathed out in a whisper that made my heart ache, "I didn't me-"

"You did Layla, you did mean to flinch away from me and I want to know why, that's what we're talking about today." I replied, getting up from her bed and slipping my clothes on in an angry manner.

I hate that she flinched away from me and that the reason could be because, of my damned beta and omega plus my gammas. They played with fire when they decided to touch her and I will not let them go unpunished. Right now they're sitting in the most dirtiest cells the guards could find awaiting punishment.

When I turned around to face her, she was sitting up against the bedrest now, looking down, "I'll be back in an hour then will talk and when we do, don't hold back anything Layla." I cautiously walked over to her and slowly lifted her head to meet my eyes, "I need you to trust me." Hesitantly I leaned down and placed a soft single kiss on her cheek.

Before walking out of the very tiny room, that I never knew existed. I must have walked past this room over a hundred times and wouldn't have thought my mate was behind it. As I made my way to my room I took a quick shower before putting on fresh clothes. In no time I was down in the cells with a few of my guards.

"Steven." I stated, nodding to his cell, my guards being quick to unlock the cell for me.

The amount of bruises I caused after what Layla told me he did was insane. I just couldn't stop once I started, all I could think about was Layla in pain and her bloody nose. Which was the fuel to my strength and torture to him. His arms were hanging above him by silver chains while his head hung low. I walked over to him lifting his head up by his hair, in return his eyes opened.

"How you feeling?" I smirked, knowing he was in absolute pain.

"Fuck you." he spit, quite literally actually.

My face contorts into disgust as a guard handed me a cloth that I used to wipe his spit off with. I only smirked more knowing this was another reason to punish him further.

"No my friend, you fucked yourself when you touched Layla." My voice was dark and venomous.

"So this is what this is about." he laughed bitterly, "The fucking runt?" he questioned shaking his head, "I should have killed her when I had the chance."

That was the last thing he said before my fist connected with his jaw making his head fly to the right. Blood spouting from his lip that busted, while his head fell, indicating he was definitely knocked out. My jaw ticked as all I felt was anger consume me, what the hell was he talking about. I went to Brad's cell next who's face was no better than Steven's.

I'd definitely say worse.

"Get up." I boomed out to his lying form on the ground, he rolled over onto his back sporting a very swollen black and blue face with a busted lip.

No doubt some broken ribs but, I could careless at this point neither could my wolf.

"Chain him up." I ordered the guards.

They immediately obeyed, grabbing Brad with ease and chaining his arms to the silver. While Brad mumbles incoherent words but, I soon blocked them out and listened to my wolf.

he growled clearly being vengeful more than anything,

"Neck too." I stated, before walking away not before I heard Brad mumble Layla's name, "Mind speaking up there?" I spoke, turning around with venom laced in my words, I was not to be messed with right now.

"I said." he paused looking up and straight at me, "Tell Layla sorry she never got that birthday beating." his lip curved up into a smirk.

It was as if I seen red, one minute I was standing a good distance away from him the next I was exactly in front of him punching him over and over. Like time was in slow motion and nothing mattered but, causing him pain.

"Alpha, alpha." It rang in my ears but, that didn't stop me, "That's enough, Layla is waiting is she not?" Hearing Layla's name got me to freeze mid air about to land another punch.

Slowly I put my hand down and stared at Brad's bloody face that was no longer recognizable from all the bruising. Then my attention snapped to the person who broke me out of the daze. It was Zach my top warrior, the person I'm only now realizing probably would have been a better beta. When I found Layla I told him about her and updated him on things.

Nodding at each other in an understanding way, I walked away from the cells and out of there, I'd have to come visit Jameson and Chester later. Right now I wanted answers and Layla, my sweet Layla better give them too me.

Jake voiced making me freeze on his command,

As much as I hate to admit it he's right, I don't ever want her afraid of me. Changing my direction I headed straight for my house to talk to my mom. This news of finding my mate would definitely brighten her up, at the thought I could already feel my anger leaving.

When I made it to my house I jogged up the stairs soon making it to my moms room. With a light knock I opened the door to see her sitting up and watching tv. Upon hearing the door she looks over spotting me and smiling.

"Landon, you didn't come home last night, may I assume-" Before she could say anything else I cut her off.

"Yes mom I found her and she's perfect."
